It will mark the 35th match of the 16th edition's Indian Premier League (IPL) & will mark the exact halfway of the league phase. Team Preview (Gujarat Titans): Well Hardik Pandya has is a different personnel when he leads a team. Whether it is leading the Indian side or it is leading an IPL franchise Hardik is a role model. His cool & calm nature around has inspired his side to come on top in many crunch situations & which is why they manage to close out games on their side which actually they had no right to win. The Titans are coming off something similar to what they do the best- heist. It was a fairly easy run chase for Lucknow Super Giants but KL Rahul & Co. made a meal of it in the end handing the Gujarat-based franchise a 7-run win. Batting first on a slowish track at Lucknow GT crawled their way to 135. It was a welcome return to form for Kung-Fu Pandya who notched a responsible fifty before Mohit Sharma held his nerve to bowl a superb final over stopping well-set KL Rahul from taking his team over the line. Overall GT have won four of their six games & have eight points in their kitty. The team management trusts their regular players & gives them a long go. However they do alter a few players according to the situation like they are using Noor instead of Little & also have sidelined Joseph in the last few matches. They have trusted Vijay Shankar & Abhinav Manohar with B Sai Sudharsan getting dropped in the previous fixture. However they might take a decision on these players based on pitch & venue. Team Preview (Mumbai Indians): Though coming off a loss against Punjab in a run-fest at Wankhede the Rohit Sharma-led unit is a team to watch for as they are in every season. It was a tough pill to swallow as they lost by 13 runs in a record run chase of 215 against PBKS. While Chawla has been a revolution bringing back the good old memories of when he was a regular starter with Team India. Hrithik Shokeen has been economical but needs to add some volume under the wickets column which is why MI have been going for plenty with the ball this season. MI's fast bowling unit has so many world-class players but has looked toothless even with the comeback of English seamer Jofra Archer. Arjun was on spot in his first two matches but has been taken to the cleaners & was hammered to 31 runs by Bhatia & Curran in an over. Whether the management keep the young Tendulkar going is a thing to watch out for with Warrier waiting in the dug-out. Mumbai Indians as always have a tremendous batting force with Kishan & Rohit giving flying starts up at the top followed by Green Suryakumar & Tilak holding the fort in the middle order before Tim David unleashes the brute power in the slog overs. Apart from Green & Tilak they haven't been consistent which is why the Mumbai-based franchise are struggling. At present Mumbai Indians have won three of their six matches & have six points to be stationed at seventh place in the points table. With the players in form it's going to be a cracking match at Ahmedabad. Head-to-Head (GT vs MI): Mumbai Indians won the solitary fixture between the two sides last season & was the only game GT lost while chasing in the IPL. Outstanding effort from Rohit and Gill to put a double-century opening stand. 420 looked easily possible at one stage but the Blackcaps made a stellar comeback as the ball aged. Ball was stopping on the batters and India lost 6 wickets for 101 runs. Pressure was totally shifted back to India and it took a determined Hardik Pandya to steer them out of trouble again. Shardul gave him a great hand and the duo added a brisk 54-run stand to lift the dressing room again. Lockie and Santner were really good with the ball. Tickner was impressive too while Duffy was taken to the cleaners despite taking three wickets. New Zealand should fancy their chances too because they bat deep and if they have wickets in hands and if dew sets in it won't be easy for the Indian bowlers. If dew stays away we could see Kul-Cha trouble New Zealand. 386 is by no means an easy target but the dew factor can prove to be the ally for the Kiwis. They need a strong foundation at the top of the order or the asking rate will mount too much on them. Rohit is having a chat with his teammates in the huddle and everyone's body language is positive and relaxed. Hardik Pandya to start off with the new ball Despite Tom Latham calling it right and choosing to bowl first the Kiwi bowlers failed to start well with the ball allowing India to get off to a flyer. The visitors kept bowling loose deliveries and were blown away by the onslaught of the Indian openers. However once they broke the opening stand they clawed their way back into the game during the last 20 overs of their bowling effort. They kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals and did not allow India to gather any momentum. Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur did trouble them towards the end but they got rid of both batters before they could inflict any more damage. Lockie Ferguson Mitchell Santner went wicketless today but bowled economical spells. Jacob Duffy and Blair Tickner accounted for three wickets each while Michael Bracewell finished with a wicket to his name. This has been a solid fightback by New Zealand and they have done extremely well to keep India under 400. At one stage India were on course to post a total in excess of 400 but they end up with 385 on the board. Having been sent into bat first India were off to a flying start courtesy of their openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both batters notched up their respective hundreds and stitched a 212-run opening stand. However once this partnership was broken India lost their way in the innings and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The 54-run stand between Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur provided India with some much-needed impetus towards the back end of the innings. Despite failing to cross the 400-run mark India have a challenging total on the board. We are into the ODI World Cup year now and though T20 cricket continues to entertain us with all T20 leagues around the world ODI cricket has taken the centerstage in international cricket. It is now time for the third and final ODI of this three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand and with India taking an unassailable lead of 2-0 after winning the second ODI we can expect some changes in both sides as they look to fine-tune their preparation ahead of the World Cup.
