Chandler Morris Throws For 461 Yards To Lead TCU To A 30-28 Upset Against 12th Ranked Baylor
Chandler Morris Throws For 461 Yards To Lead TCU To A 30-28 Upset Against 12th Ranked Baylor

FORT WORTH, TX – TCU (4-5, 2-4) upsets Baylor (7-2, 4-2) 30-28 in Fort Worth Saturday afternoon and they were led by Chandler Morris. Morris threw 29-of-41 for 461 yards in the air to lead the Frogs to a victory. TCU started the game off with a quick series and a punt after an incomplete pass from Chandler Morris to Blair Conwright. Baylor took over on offense and in three quick plays the Bears were on the board 7-0 after a seven yard pass to Tyquan Thornton from Gerry Bohanon. With seven minutes left in the first quarter TCU got on the board 7-7 after Morris’s pass was completed to Derius Davis for 63 yards to the Baylor 14 for a 1ST down. The Horned Frogs finished the first quarter short of a touchdown and was stopped at the Baylor 13. They settled for a field goal and went into the second quarter 10-7. Defense continued to play with force and had their best defensive possession all season with a rush loss of two yards, rush loss of six yards, rush gain for five yards and forced a Baylor punt at the Baylor seven yard line. The TCU defense played some of their best football this afternoon. TCU took over on offense and was stopped by Baylor but Griffin Kell kicked a 46 yard field goal to put the Frogs ahead by six, 13-7. The Baylor Bears opened up the second quarter with an 11 play, seven minute series that resulted in a touchdown, putting Baylor back on top 14-13 from a pass completion to Drake Dabney from Bohanon for a 21 yard touchdown. TCU struggled in the red zone in the second quarter, they were in the red zone four times in the first half and only had one touchdown. That didnt stop the Frogs from getting some points, they finished the second quarter with a fieldgoal with 1:03 left in the half to take the lead 16-14 at the half. Morris had an incredible game for the Frogs, he threw 15-of-21 for 246 yards in the first half alone. The Baylor defense coming into this game only allowed 209 yards passing and Morris covered that and then some in the first half. The Horned Frogs defense started the third quarter the same way they ended the first half, they stopped the Bears and forced a punt. TCU had a rough start offensively in the third quarter, but not becuase of their play. The refs threw more flags than the press box could count and it continued on the offensive side for TCU. They lost 15 total yards in penalties after the refs were done with their shenanigans and still finished the drive off with a touchdown. The touchdown was made possible by a beautiful pass from Morris to Taye Barber for 29 yards at the Baylor 26, that was finished off by a pass from Morris to Dominic DiNunzio for a five yard touchdown. TCU went up 23-14 with seven minutes left in the third quarter. Baylor came back and scored a touchdown with three minutes left in the third quarter, making the game too close for comfort but TCU still led 23-21. TCU came roaring back with a 53 yard pass to Quetin Johnston to the Baylor 22. The drive was short lived and TCU attempted for a field goal and it was deflected by Baylor. Baylor then shot one down field for a 49 yard pass completion to Tyquan Thornton. The very next play, TCU intercepted it in the end zone by Kee’Yon Stewart to end the fourth quarter. TCU resumed play to start the fourth after the interception and Johnston scored a touchdown to pull away with a 30-21 lead. Baylor scored yet again to make it a barn burner late in Fort Worth. TCU led 30-28 with five minutes left in the half. TCU’s next drive ended in a missed field goal giving Baylor the ball back with two minutes remaining in the game down two points to the Horned Frogs. The game was a close one but an interception with 30 seconds left in the game by Baylor solidifying the win for the Horned Frogs. KEY PLAYERS: Chandler Morris threw 29 of 41 for 461 yards. Morris also led in rushing yards with 70 yards rushing for 11 carries. #TCU #Baylor #CollegeFootball
