Cross Country Set to Compete at Texas A&M Invitational

http://www.utpabroncs.com/news/2014/9/19/MXC_0919141016.aspx COLLEGE STATION – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's and women's cross country teams compete at the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday at the Watts Cross Country Course, on the Campus of Texas A&M University. The men will run a 6K starting at 8 a.m. while the women will run a 4K at 8:45 a.m. The Competition Along with UTPA and host Texas A&M, other schools that will be competing are: Baylor, Central Arkansas, Houston, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State and Texas Tech. There are nine men's teams that are competing at the Texas A&M Invitational who are regionally ranked while seven women's teams are regionally ranked. Those teams on the men's side are: No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 10 Baylor, No. 15 Central Arkansas, No. 12 Houston, No. 3 Lamar, No. 5 Stephen F. Austin, No. 9 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, No. 13 Texas State and No. 13 Texas Tech (Mountain Region). Those teams on the women's side are: No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Baylor, No. 12 Central Arkansas, No. 7 Lamar, No. 13 Stephen F. Austin, No. 15 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and No. 13 Texas Tech (Mountain Region). Last Time Out The Broncs hosted the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islanders for the Rio Grande Valley Relays on August 29. On the men's side, the Broncs were paced by junior Jose Juan Wells and graduate student Luis Serrano, who finished second and third respectively. Wells posted a time of 15:30 in the 5K race while Serrano had a time of 15:37. Valley View High School alum David Montalvo finished in eighth place with a time of 16:39 while Edinburg North High School alum Rick Montero finished in ninth with a time of 16:45. PSJA High School alum Ricardo Granados posted a time of 16:50 for a 10th place finish and Edinburg North High School alum Leo Dominguez finished in 11th place with a time of 16:52. Palmview High alum Mario Guerrero posted a 12th place finish with a time of 17:11 while junior P.J. Izaguirre, who competed unattached, finished in 13th place with a time of 17:21. Valley View High School alum Arturo Ponce finished in 14th place with a time of 17:42. PSJA High School alum Martin Perez finished in 15th with a time of 17:48 and Palmview High School alum Miguel Garza finished in 16th with a time of 18:27. On the women's side, Edinburg High School alum Robin Galloso, who competed as an unattached, led the way as she finished in first place with a time of 10:27.7. Los Fresnos alum Jennifer Zapata posted a seventh place with a time of 11:36 while Weslaco High School alum Alexandria Munoz finished in eighth place with a time of 12:11. Mercedes High School alum Teresa Sova posted a time of 12:16 for a ninth place finish. Palmview High School alum Roxanna Vidaurri finished in 10th place with a time of 12:18 and Sharyland High School alum Savanna Antley finished in 11th with a time of 13:57.
