Despite an amazing 107-wins they barely evaded their longtime rival the Los Angeles Dodgers with a one-game lead heading into the MLB Postseason. Following a heartbreaking loss in extra innings against the Padres Saturday night, the Giants needed a quality performance from Logan Webb. Webb delivered seven strong innings and helped his own cause offensively with a two-run homer. Buster Posey broke open the scoring early for the Giants with a bases loaded 2-RBI single. A dominant 11-4 victory against San Diego gave the Giants their first division title since 2012. This was the first NL West division championship not won by the Dodgers in eight season.
