Islanders again squander late lead, Golden Knights win Lehner's homecoming | Postgame Report

The Islanders persevered through three periods of play only to fall 4-3 to the Vegas Golden Knights after a shootout. Robin Lehner returned to the island tonight for the first time since being traded, and ultimately made some great saves in an overall solid performance that brought the Knights to the win. The Long Island team fought all the way to the finish, holding a lead until the final minute of the third period, with a solid effort by Sorokin and the Islanders defense to earn a point, albeit another somewhat disappointing one, in their latest match to bring their record to 8-12-6. Samantha Bohrer recaps the Islanders' valiant fight, Barry Trotz’s vaccine statement slip up and the brand new NHL decision to postpone cross-border travel for teams and more in this postgame report.
