The Montreal Canadiens played tonight at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs and would end up beating them by a final score of 4-2 in regulation. In the 1st period Auston Matthews would open up the scoring just 36 seconds into the game. In the 2nd period David Savard would tie the game up followed by a Cole Caufield goal for his 14th of the year giving the Canadiens a 2-1 lead into the 3rd and final period. In said 3rd period William Nylander would tie the game up but late it would be Paul Byron on a 3-on-1 giving the Canadiens a 3-2 lead and the eventual game winning goal after Christian Dvorak would score the empty net goal to ensure the Canadiens win this hockey game 4-2 as the final shots were 51-19 Maple Leafs, Jake Allen making 49 saves in a highlight reel night for him. With this victory the Montreal Canadiens are now 18-37-10 with 46 points currently one of the worst teams in the NHL.
