Hunter Dickinson was asked to do a lot with Austin Davis out due to injury, and he definitely didn’t disappoint. He continued his impressive non-conference campaign into the Big Ten opener, putting up 20 points on 9-14 shooting, adding 7 rebounds, as well. While it was a tough outing for Livers & Wagner (a combined 16 points), they provided some key defensive plays and were perfect from the free throw line, with Livers going 8-8 and nailing the final 2 to go up by 4 with less than 10 seconds remaining to ice the game. Eli Brooks proved to be a pivotal part of this one, putting up 12 points and showing his defensive chops throughout the game and especially down the stretch. While he’s been generally quiet, him stepping up in this one goes to show how deep this Wolverine squad truly is.
