Reaction after Australia beat England by two wickets to take a 1-0 lead in The Ashes following an all-time classic at Edgbaston. Ben Stokes' England set Australia a target of 281, and after rain delayed the start of the final day's play, Pat Cummins' side resumed their second innings on 107-3. England worked through Australia's top order, and after Joe Root caught Alex Carey, which left the visitors 227-8, Nathan Lyon joined captain Pat Cummins at the crease with victory seemingly inevitable for the hosts. However, the duo produced a stunning ninth-wicket partnership of 55 to hold off the attacks of Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson to seal a famous win after five days of enthralling Test cricket. It was a fitting conclusion to a match which ebbed and flowed, and produced some unpredictable moments, including captain Stokes' decision to declare on day one with England 393-8. After the match, the 32-year-old refused to dwell on the surprising call and whether it affected the final outcome. The second Test of the five-match series gets under way at Lord's in London on 28th June.
