Zum ausgiebigen Torjubel konnte der 29-Jährige erst einige Minuten später ansetzen, als der VAR-Beweis zeigte, dass Brandt nicht im Abseits gestanden hatte. Nach einem von ihm selbst gegen Östigard herausgeholten Elfmeter hätte Guirassy auf 2:0 erhöhen können. Der Torjäger schoss aber vom Punkt zu ungenau und schwach, sodass Baumann zum dritten Mal in dieser Spielzeit einen Strafstoß hielt (34.). Nach der Pause blieben die Kraichgauer zunächst unterlegen. Jamie Gittens rannte allein auf Baumann zu, der TSG-Kapitän ließ sich den Ball aber nicht durch die Beine schießen. Die Nachlässigkeiten beim Abschluss rächten sich für Dortmund: Der Ex-Leverkusener Adam Hlozek nutzte einen Fehlpass von Anton Stach und traf zum unerwarteten Ausgleich. Eine herrliche Direktabnahme von Brandt aus spitzem Winkel führte dann zum 2:1 für die Borussia. Der sträflich freie Pavel Kaderabek köpfte aber zum erneuten Ausgleich ein. Als es bereits nach einem Remis aussah, folgte eine strittige Szene um Baumann. Der Keeper kollidierte mit Carney Chukwuemeka und verletzte sich an der Stirn.
