Australian Football League

The Australian Football League is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game.

Russia was expected to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, now postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It would have been the country's seventh consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics as an independent nation, but their athletes will be entered by and represent the “Russian Olympic Committee” and use the acronym “ROC” for a country name.

Australia women's national soccer team

The Australian women's national soccer team is overseen by the governing body for soccer in Australia, Football Federation Australia , which is currently a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the regional ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) since leaving the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) in 2006. The team's official nickname is "the Matildas" (from the Australian folk song "Waltzing Matilda"), having been known as the "Female Socceroos" before 1995.

Having played their first game in 1914, and their first Olympic game in 1984 they are one of Australia's most successful sporting teams, boasting three Olympic gold medals (1988, 1996, 2000), two World Cup gold medals (1994, 1998) and four Commonwealth Games gold medals (1998, 2006, 2010, 2014).
