On Wednesday night, Indiana (finally!) opened the 2020-21 season with a breezy 89-59 victory over Tennessee Tech. The Hoosiers delivered the knockout blow with a 28-2 run to end the second half, and Trayce Jackson-Davis opened his sophomore season with a dominant 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists. After the game, our crew broke it all down on The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show. On the mics: Andy and Coach
On Wednesday night, Indiana defeated Nebraska to clinch its first 20-win season under Archie Miller. Armaan Franklin delivered another great performance in Bankers Life Fieldhouse, and Trayce Jackson-Davis contributed 17 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. After the game, our crew broke it all down on The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show, plus plenty of talk about the impact that coronavirus is having on the sports world ... and might even have on the rest of the Big Ten Tournament. We also point out a few meaningful moments you may have missed, go inside the numbers, and hand out our game balls. All of that, and more, on this edition of The Assembly Call. On the mics: Jerod, Andy, Coach (and a special guest appearance by Ryan)

On Thursday night, Indiana fell yet again to Purdue. The Hoosiers played solid defense for most of the night, but a woefully inept offensive performance from everyone on the roster left Indiana with little chance of stealing a road victory. After the game, our crew broke it all down on this edition of The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show. On the mics: Jerod, Andy, and Coach Among the topics discussed: — Why Race Thompson's play was, yet again, one of the bright spots for Indiana — How much credit do the Hoosiers get for fighting back in the 2nd half? — What went wrong with Trayce Jackson-Davis and Indiana's offense. — Issues with the coaching from offensive strategy to lineup decisions (with some kudos for the defense). — The tantalizing second half stretch from Rob Phinisee in the midst of yet another disappointing game. — How Indiana lost yet another game to Purdue thanks to a stretch in which it got out-toughed and out-executed. We also point out a few meaningful moments you may have missed, go inside the numbers, and hand out our game balls. All of that, and more, including an extra cranky AC After Dark, on this edition of The Assembly Call.
On Sunday afternoon, Indiana defeated Penn State to earn its third win in the last four games. The Hoosiers led by as many as 19 points early, then fell behind by six in the second half, before reasserting control and making winning plays down the stretch. It was yet another breakout performance by Race Thompson. After the game, our crew broke it all down on The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show. On the mics: Jerod, Coach, and Ryan Among the topics discussed: — The massive plays by Race and Jerome once Indiana fell behind by six in the second half. — Why this was one of the most impressive outings of the season from Trayce, even if his numbers weren't particularly efficient. — The big bounceback performance by IU's guards. — Why on earth does Joey Brunk continue to start games and second halves? — The huge closing plays made by Justin Smith down the stretch. — Why Archie Miller deserves a ton of credit for getting this season turned back around. We also point out a few meaningful moments you may have missed, go inside the numbers, and hand out our game balls. All of that, and more, on this edition of The Assembly Call.
On Sunday afternoon, Indiana played terrific basketball for 18 and a half minutes, turning a 9-point halftime deficit into a 7-point lead late in the second half. But a series of a miscues and bad decisions down the stretch cost Indiana a huge home victory. After the game, our crew broke it all down, and also reacted to the tragic news about Kobe Bryant, on The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show. On the mics: Jerod and Ryan Among the topics discussed: — They key stretches in the second half featuring Trayce Jackson-Davis down low, one with Joey Brunk and the other with De'Ron Davis. — What led to Indiana's collapse and where the blame lies. — Jerome Hunter's breakout game finally came, on both ends of the court. — Devonte Green's up and down day. — Why Rob Phinisee had a good game ... except when it mattered most. — How to process the conflicting feelings of Indiana playing well and continuing to improve, but pissing away a victory in winning timing. And our thoughts on Kobe Bryant's sad, shocking death in a helicopter accident. We also point out a few meaningful moments you may have missed, go inside the numbers, and hand out our game balls. All of that, and more, on this edition of The Assembly Call.
