With both teams already qualified to the Final Six, the match was more of a formality, but both teams got to showcase some players that would not normally see much time on court. The result sees Iran complete pool play on a 12-3 record in second place in the standings, behind leaders Brazil. USA, who had their spot in the Final Six secured anyway, as hosts, wrapped up the preliminary round at 9-6. No team got a lead wider than two points at any time during the first set and USA were first to reach set point at 24-23. Iran promptly cancelled that and the next one, but back-to-back kills by Benjamin Patch and Jake Langlois brought it home. It was similar in the second, but this time USA had three set points to spare at 24-21 and a George Huhmann block on Masoud Gholami closed it immediately. And again in the third it was not after 19-19 that USA got to peel off and build a four-point lead which Jeffrey Jendryk II extended to five with a match point block on Farhad Ghaemi. Iran's Farhad Ghaemi gets in front of libero Mohammad Reza Hazratpour to defend the ball against USA, Sunday in Plovdiv. Patch ended up with a match-high scoring of 16, followed by Langlois on 13 and Jendryk on 10, as USA outblocked Iran 10 to 6 - five stuffs coming from Jendryk alone. Milad Ebadipour was the Asian side's best scorer on 14 points, with Porya Yali adding another 13. ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Brisbane, Australia, June 30, 2019 - Defending champions Russia have fine tuned for the finals of the Men’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League with a 3-0 victory over China in Brisbane, Australia. Russian head coach Tuomas Sammelvuo used the match to rest a number of his key players ahead of the finals in Chicago. This provided valuable game time for the younger players in the squad. The victory over China completed a clean sweep for the Russians in Brisbane with victories over Australia and Argentina earlier in the weekend. Russian opposite Denis Zemchenok said: "From this weekend we gained a lot of confidence, we can play better in serve and reception. We did well in the game against China because the coach gave an opportunity to a lot of young players to play today, maybe they were a little bit nervous at the start but they grew in confidence, this is also really important. The five set win over Argentina was also very important for us. This weekend was the last before the finals so it gave us a chance to rest some of our key players.” Russia finished the preliminary round of 15 matches with 12 wins and 3 losses. China finished 16th with 1 victory and 14 losses. ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Milan, Italy, June 22. 2019 - Reigning world champions Poland defeated Serbia in five sets in Milan on Saturday. Nikola Grbic, head coach of Serbia: "In the first set we had good chances but we were not focused enough. We lost consistency during the match and we were not clinical enough to close important points. We would need more training to improve our game." Drazen Luburic, opposite spiker of Serbia: "At the end we lost consistency, they deserved to win because they played better in the end. We knew it would be a difficult match, and it was." Vital Heynen, head coach of Poland: "A very important win because today played some players that yesterday in the opening match didn't play. This is a win that cheers us up and it's useful for the final six in Chicago. The match with Italy represents for us a chance for the finals." Karol Klos, Poland spiker: "We expected a point to point fight like this: our coach told us that tomorrow against Italy maybe it would be the same. We need to keep focused, and this is what we did today. The most important thing is always fighting for every ball." ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Milan, Italy, June 21. 2019 - Poland claimed a tie-breaker victory against Argentina in the first match in Milan on Friday. Vital Heynen, Head Coach of Poland: "Getting to the tie-break in a match like this is pretty normal. This is a young team, so tie breaks are useful for the team to grow in consistency. I hope we can play another ten tie-breaks in this pool in Milan." Jakub Kochanowski, Poland middle blocker: "The match was balanced and we managed not to lose concentration in the tie-break. In the third set we started to struggle because Argentina entered in the match and they started to serve very well. In the tie-break we never gave up and this mindset rewarded us with the win." Marcelo Mendez, Head Coach of Argentina: "We struggled to understand Poland's game plan and we committed many mistakes. We didn't start well but during the match we improved in serving and receiving. It was a balanced match and at the end they won with a two point lead." Luciano De Cecco, Captain of Argentina: "We played a bit tensely in the first two sets and we managed to get better in the second one. In the third set we started to play as we usually do and we acquired confidence. We arrived to the tie-break focused and at the end nothing was missing, but we lost the last two points." ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Cuiaba, Brazil, June 21, 2019 - Russia coach Tuomas Sammelvuo celebrated the efficiency of service of his team to overcome Germany by 3-1 (22/25, 25/21, 25/19, 25/14) in the opening match of week 4 of the men's FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Cuiaba. Russia Captain Igor Kobzar - "It was a difficult game for us. We did not start as confidently as we are suppposed to be, so we lost the first set. But after that we found our game and in the end we won" Russia Coach Tuomas Sammelvuo - "We did not start this match with the kind of service we want. It was a matter of confidence. I am happy for the players because they did not get nervous and stayed focused on the match. They believed in themselves and during the game they played point by point to overcome the adversary. We started to serve very well and it was a key to win." Germany Captain Christian Fromm - "The difference in the end was that they served better than us. They found better solutions in the spiking and we could not stop them. Then we lost some energy and it is a big disappointment. I think that tomorrow the game will be even harder. I hope we stay focused and do what we know." Germany Coach Andrea Giani - "We had a bad game tonight. We played better in the first set, but in the second one we committed several errors. This is the kind of match where the skills are important, but also to be ahead on the scoreboard matters. This is a young team, and when we have a lack of confidence it make things even harder. ✅ Subscribe ©Titans Volleyball LIFE ➤ https://goo-gl.me/bxJU1 ===================================================== | Ningbo, China, June 19, 2019 - Germany defeated a young Serbian team 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) in the fifth week of the FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations Leaegue on Wednesday afternoon at Beilun Sports and Arts Center. Serbia captain Maja Aleksic: "I am very happy that we won the third set though we lost the game. Tomorrow we will play against team China, I am very much looking forward to that." Germany captain Denise Hanke: "I think we did pretty well in the first two sets but in the following set we came back very late, so it was almost impossible for us to win the third set. We knew that team Serbia was very strong physically and attacked very strong in serve. We made some substitutions in the third set and we are very happy to win the fourth set." Serbia coach Branko Kovacevic: "Congratulations to both teams and especially to team Germany. I think the game after the first set was very interesting because there were many nice long rallies. We could really improve our reception especially the organization in first attack. In the middle of the game we had the chance to come back but team Germany had a very good serve and caused many problems to us. It was very difficult to play against Germany. But tomorrow is a new game. Team China is much stronger than us. Our target is to give these young players more opportunities to play at this level of competition and to enjoy the game." Germany head coach Felix Koslowski: "Congratulations to team Serbia since they fought very hard on the court. We did well in serve but it was not easy for us to hold on to the end. Many coaches always say they have a young team on court but I have to say team Serbia is really young and an interesting new generation. Actually it does not matter how mature they are. Even when they lagged five or six points behind, they always fought hard and did an amazing job." Gondomar, Portugal, June 15, 2019 - Serbia conquered today a win by 3-2 by defeating Portugal in the tiebreak 3-2 (20-25, 25-15, 25-22, 30-32, 15-9). Bozidor Vucicevic, with 28 points, was the man of the match. Serbia Coach Nikola Grbic: “We scored many blocks and attacked well from the second line. Unfortunately we didn’t win the fourth set, which would give us 3 points. We made six errors in the reception that complicated our attack and that was the key of the fourth set. I’m pleased with the performance of my players and I hope that we have enough energy to play at this level tomorrow and win against China.” Portugal Coach, Hugo Silva: “Serbia is the highest ranked team and we were able to overcome their block several times. If we had believed more and kept the focus until the end the result could have been different. We felt many difficulties in building our game. Serbia has a very good team and we weren’t able to stop their opposite (who scored 28 points). But the players were relenteless, they gave all that they had. Tomorrow, with five sets we will have to forget the fatigue and try to play as equals against Brazil.” Subscribe NOW http://bit.do/FIVB-Sub Get ALL the Volleyball Action https://volleyballworld.tv FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA Instagram: https://instagram.com/fivbvolleyball/ Facebook: https://facebook.com/FIVB.Internation...
