His previous best was 92 in Adelaide in 2000 till the match. It was Gilchrist's 1st ODI century against India. Captain of Australian team Ricky Ponting made 108 runs in just 103 balls. Damien Martyn scored 61 runs. Australia put 347 runs on the board in 50 overs by losing just 2 wickets. Sachin Tendulkar made 89 runs for the team. Ganguly made 37 runs in just 31 balls. But unfortunately, the Indian team was unable to chase a big total of 348 runs and 286 runs in 50 overs by losing 8 wickets. Symonds took 3 wickets in his 9 over spell.
