LASK Group Winners!
What an achievement for LASK! Their second ever top finish in a European group stage thanks to a late winner in Tel Aviv. Otherwise, it was a rather odd round with many teams failing to secure their places in the knockout stage. Most prominently among these was Mura's shock win over Spurs! Intense Battle Between 1. FC Köln and RB Leipzig
At the moment, some traditional power hosues in both Germany and Austria do find themselves at the wrong end of the standings. But that does not deter Bayern and Salzburg on route to another title. However, I was mostly fascinated by an intense and thoroughly entertaining top match in Cologne. Beside the quality of the match, this might also have been the most colorful white vs. black matchup you will ever see. Rant: Austria Disgrace Themselves in Israel - Again!
After another embarrassing showing in Israel, Austria's chances of direct qualification for the World Cup are nearly non-existent. Denmark - the Emotional Heart of EURO 2020
The finish of Group B was one to remember: Denmark needed to beat Russia and then hope from some help from Belgium and all that in front of a fervent partisan crowd. The whole game had its up and downs, but in the end everything turned Denmark's way who now find themselves as the darlings of Europe - rightfully so! In Group C, Austria stifled Ukraine especially in the first half and got a narrow but thoroughly deserved win to secure a date with Italy at Wembley.
