Anthony Joshua meets Steph Curry of Golden State Warriors
Anthony Joshua meets Steph Curry of Golden State Warriors

As fans await confirmation of a fight with Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua arrived in the United States on Tuesday to meet a heavyweight from a different sport. The British WBO, IBF and WBA title holder arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday with members of his entourage and headed to San Francisco, to meet Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.Curry and co were in action in a play-off game against the Houston Rockets, which they lost 95-92. Alongside a photo posted on Instagram showing manager Freddie Cunningham, PR man Andy Bell and others boarding a private jet, Joshua commented 'work work work'. Joshua also later shared a video of him greeting Curry courtside.Promoter Eddie Hearn, who is not in Joshua's Instagram image, told the Daily Telegraph on Tuesday that a decision on the staging of the Wilder fight will be made in the next three weeks, although a UK showdown is preferred. Wilder, who holds the WBC title, in April made the unusual move of emailing Joshua directly to insist his backers had the money - worth £35.9million - for a bout which could take place later this year. However Hearn said his client was prepared to take a pay cut of more than £7million to fight in front of a home crowd. 'One thing is for absolute certain, AJ wants Wilder next,' Hearn told the Telegraph. 'We’ll see how the conversations go, but I’d say we’ve got another three weeks to go.' 'He's made that clear. He also feels though, after talking to Rob McCracken, his trainer and manager, that this is a fight that should be delivered in the UK. One for the fans and two, he feels like he's earned that right.'Hearn said talks were also ongoing over a mandatory WBA title fight with Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin.Should the Wilder fight not go ahead, a bout with Povetkin is 'almost certain', the promoter said.

Cleveland Cavaliers 116-86 Boston Celtics: James scores 27 points
Cleveland Cavaliers 116-86 Boston Celtics: James scores 27 points

Before taking the floor, LeBron James stood in the hallway with his team-mates outside Cleveland's locker room and pounded his chest with both hands. The Celtics got thumped next.James had 27 points and 12 assists, Kevin Love added 14 rebounds and the Cavaliers looked like a different team on their home court, tightening the Eastern Conference finals with a 116-86 victory in Game 3 over Boston on Saturday night. Outplayed during two losses in Boston, the Cavs used a three-day break in the series to regroup and re-grip this series. With James leading the way, they built a 19-point lead in the first quarter, pushed it to 30 in the second half and overpowered the Celtics, who fell to 1-5 on the road in the posts-season.Any discussion of Cleveland's demise is premature. Kyle Korver made four of the team's 17 three-pointers, six players scored in double figures and the Cavs, who have spent the season seeking chemistry and cohesion, were connected defensively.'Even when things broke down, we just covered for one another,' James said. 'We made them make extra passes. We made them make extra dribbles. We were flying around, and I just happened to be one of the guys on the floor that wanted to fly around as well.' Game 4 is Monday night before the series returns to Boston.Jaylen Brown was in foul trouble all night and scored just 10 for the Celtics after averaging 23 in the first two games. Jayson Tatum scored 18 and Terry Rozier 13 for Boston, which couldn't match Cleveland in any aspect.'They took it to us,' Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. 'Point blank: They just outplayed us.' Only 19 of a possible 300 teams have ever overcome a 2-0 deficit in the play-offs. James and the Cavs, who previously did it in 2007 and again in 2016 while winning the NBA title, took the first step toward a third comeback. To return to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight year, the Cavs have to win four of five and re-write Boston's illustrious history. The Celtics are 37-0 when they win the first two games in a series. The Cavs came in wanting to play faster and be more physical with the younger Celtics, who were the aggressors in Games 1 and 2.Not this time.'The toughest team sets the rules,' Rozier said. 'They came out aggressive from the jump and never looked back. We've got to play aggressive from the rip. Tonight, we were all over the place, playing too fast and doing things we didn't want to do.' The Cavs needed more from point guard George Hill after two poor performances (8 points, 1 assist) in Boston. Hill responded with a driving lay-up to start the game and drained three three-pointers in the first quarter as Cleveland wasted no time taking control.Hill finished with 13, J.R. Smith 11 - they were outscored 41-3 in Game 2 - and Cleveland's supporting cast played so well that James was only on the floor for 37 minutes.Stevens was confident his team would play better on the road than earlier in these play-offs, but the Celtics were shaky early, committing four t

Aguero insists he's on the same page as Pep after a tough first season
Aguero insists he's on the same page as Pep after a tough first season

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that Pep Guardiola was 'angry with him last season but the manager has insisted it was 'worth it' following the Argentine's stellar campaign. The 29-year-old has admitted to struggling with Guardiola's demands when he arrived in 2016 and Gabriel Jesus' arrival just six months later saw his opportunities to play dwindle. In a trophyless season for City last year, which saw them finish third in the Premier League, Aguero looked destined for the Etihad exit with a rumoured return to Atletico Madrid on the cards. Aguero believes his fortunes turned around once his striker partner went down with an injury and his hard work and dedication in training saw him get the nod again to lead the line for City.Guardiola's men went on to break many Premier League records after running away with the league while Aguero himself became the club's all-time leading goalscorer back in November.Despite not seeing eye to eye in the beginning, Aguero insists he and Guardiola are now on the same page and reveals that Guardiola's initial anger made him a better player.  'Pep is a very demanding coach and adapting to what he wanted was not easy during the first year,' Aguero told Argentine TV channel TYC Sports.'Besides my responsibilities as a striker, he wanted to get me involved as the first defender of the team. When Gabriel Jesus arrived, he had more options and I started to play less.'I kept giving my best in practice and working hard so, when Gabriel went down with an injury, I was able to come back stronger and scored a lot of goals.'I think this year we were on the same page with Pep. He told me he was happy with my performance and his anger was worth it because I had a better year.'

Neymar is back! Brazil striker returns to full training with PSG

On Thursday Neymar made his long awaited return to full training, as he and his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates practised at their home ground, Parc des Princes. The Brazilian has been missing from first-team action for three months after he sustained a foot injury in February. He broke his metatarsal during a Ligue 1 match against Europa League runners-up, Marseille. As a result Neymar missed out on PSG clinching the league and cup double, as well as the second-leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie with Real Madrid.PSG have one game to go this season and Neymar could feature in it when they face Caen on Saturday. The news will be welcomed in some parts of South America with Brazil's star man looking increasingly likely he will be back to his best by the World Cup. He recently spoke of his desire to win the tournament this summer and with Brazil favourites with the bookies, he will have the weight of his country on his shoulders to deliver the trophy.'The World Cup is the biggest championship in the world, I just want to play and be a champion,' Neymar told Desimpedidos in a Facebook interview. 'This cup has to be mine.'What inspires me the most is playing football. Being inside the field is my greatest joy.'

Kompany reveals how he coped against Messi, Suarez and Ibrahimovic
Kompany reveals how he coped against Messi, Suarez and Ibrahimovic

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has revealed how he dealt with defending against Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. during his 10-year stint at the Etihad Stadium, having come through battles with modern-day striking greats relatively unscathed in that time. In extracts from a new book - FOOTBALL 2.0 - Kompany, 32, lifts the lid on the art of defending and discusses what it is like to come up against the likes of Messi and Ibrahimovic. The City star revealed he will study his upcoming opponents by watching videos of them to ensure he is fully prepared, but also now relies on his vast experience to adapt and make sound in-game decisions.    He said: 'The game is evolving massively on the video-analysis side, so we've got virtually everything at our disposal. I'll watch the 15-minute clip about the opposition and I'll focus on what those players are used to doing.'You already know, for example, that Peter Crouch likes going back post so he can flick it back for a smaller striker who comes in and creates the danger. He used to do that with Jermain Defoe. I'm not saying you can always handle it but, if you know it, you have an advantage.'  However, preparing to handle Messi is an entirely different proposition to Crouch. Kompany came up against the Argentinian forward on two occasions when City and Barcelona clashed in the Champions League group stage back in 2016.During City's 3-1 win at the Etihad, Kompany found himself in an unenvious position of being the only person between Messi and goalkeeper Joe Hart. The Barcelona forward was bearing down on him after leaving Fernandinho in his wake, but the 32-year-old kept his composure and instead of retreating he pressed and took the ball cleanly away from Messi.'This is the hardest situation. He's coming at full pace against you. You're stuck and you know if he passes you, he's gone,' Kompany said of that particular encounter. 'But that's a good intervention. In that situation, you take it if you need to. Although, it is one thing difficult to teach. You stick your leg out at the right time and I've been doing it since I was a kid.'I love defending and I'm passionate about it. I hate getting beat one-on-one, even in training. Most of my injuries in training were because of that, because I cannot get beaten.'Having mastered the art of defending over his 15-year career, Kompany is appropriately placed to dish out tips to any aspiring youngsters. Looking back at a clip from a game against Chelsea, Kompany highlights how important positioning is after Diego Costa had dragged him out wide. The City man looked to have been beaten but managed to use his strength to out-muscle the Spanish striker and dispossess him. Kompany said: 'If you go out of position, you need to take something. It is actually a good move from Costa but on that occasion I was stronger. We made something look good that was actually a horrendous situation.'Had Ibrahimovic been in place of Costa at that moment, K
