Meanwhile Rodolfo Zapata's side AFC Leopards will battle Mathare United at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos County starting at 3pm. Nzoia Sugar will be seeking for their first win in 5 matches when they welcome bottom of table side Wazito at Sudi, Sofapaka will be looking to get back to second place when they face Ulinzi Stars at Narok Stadium.
In a pick of Sunday's FKF SportPesa Shield round of 32 matches AFC Leopards will play Rainforest at Karuturi Grounds Naivasha while Kenya Police will host Nzoia Sugar at Narok Stadium. Ligi Ndogo beat Modern Coast Rangers 4-2 on post match penalties after 0-0 draw in regular time at Hope Centre Kawangware to progress to the last 16. 2017 finalists Kariobangi Sharks also defeated Wazito 4-2 on post match penalties after 2-2 draw at Camp Toyoyo.
Kenya Premier League leaders Gor Mahia impressive run of form continued in Kenya's domestic club competition as they cruised to the round of 16 of the Sportpesa Shield with a 5-nil thrashing of Kenpoly at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Ivorian import Ephrem Guikan scored a hatrick with Lawrence Juma scoring once before a Kenploy own goal completed a comfortable win for K'ogalo. Meanwhile the game between Ulinzi Stars and Kakamega Homeboyz scheduled to be played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru failed to take place after Homeboyz failed to turn up citing poor communication from the federation. If Ulinzi are awarded the walkover they will face the winner between Western Stima and Bidco United in the round of 16. The winner of the Shield will fly Kenya's flag in the CAF Confederation cup next season.
Mathare United missed the chance to draw level on points with Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia following a hard-fought 1-all draw against 10-man Thika United in Machakos. Clifford Alwanga canceled out Eugene Mukangula’s first half opener for Thika United. Victory would have seen the Slum Boys move level on points with champions Gor who top the standings on 34 points. The draw leaves the Slum Boys second on 32 points while Thika remain 15th on 19 points. At the Awendo Green Stadium, Enoch Agwanda scored on his Sony Sugar return in an emphatic 3-1 win over Nakumatt. Sony leapfrogged Zoo to 16th spot with 17 points, as Nakumatt remain 13th on 20. Monday action will see Posta Rangers battle Tusker.
Gor Mahia will take on English Premier League side Everton in July after beating Tanzania's league champions Simba SC 2-0 to retain the Sportpesa Super Cup at the Afraha Stadium. Enroute to the final Gor Mahia beat Zanzibar's JKU as well as Singida of Tanzania. Singida placed third.
