The BarcaBreakdown cover FC Barcelona's victory against Dynamo Kyiv, during which Ansu Fati scored a wonderful goal for the HUGE victory in the Champions League. The game also showed Ousmane Dembele finally back from injury with a promising performance showcasing his speed and dribbling, while Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araujo also came back. The second game under Barjuan was not perfect, as we continue to see areas of improvement in defense, midfield, and offense that we hope Xavi will come to improve. Overall, Marc Andre Ter Stegen made a few critical saves while Eric Garcia and Clement Lengelet did just enough to help keep the clean sheet. We were also very happy to see Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Memphis Depay line up as our front three in the second half. This trio will need to be deadly to ensure that Barca move on in the Champions League with group leaders Bayern Munich. Preparing for the GINORMOUS match vs. Benfica in three weeks, the continued growth of Gavi and Nico will do wonders once Pedri is back in the midfield. The BarcaBreakdown discuss two huge interviews by Joan Laporta and Lionel Messi in the last two days. Laporta spoke about firing Ronald Koeman and regrets about not firing him sooner, while he also avoids specifically discussing Xavi's return as manager. Lionel Messi also had a HUGE interview with Sport, speaking about the frustration he had with Laporta's "I wish Messi offered to play for free" comments. Messi also came out and discussed how he will eventually be back to Barcelona once retired, and possibly work for the team as a Sporting Director. Messi does seem to continue to show his endless love for FC Barcelona, and is frustrated that there has been drama made about his departure. He also discusses the 2022 World Cup as he clarifies that he does not believe it will be his retirement party. Finally, Messi speaks about the possibility of winning his 7th Ballon D'oR this year. Though not a great marketing person for his own brand, Messi says that winning the Copa America matters more to him than any individual award. Messi says it would be amazing to win, but he doesn't assume it will happen as there are many other great players out there. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The Barca Breakdown discussed another loss in the 2021/2022 season which resulted in the sacking of Ronald Koeman as manager. This comes after a loss away against Rayo Vallecano in which a fatal mistake by Busquests led to their demise. The team looked disheveled, disorientated, and disorganized. The only positive outlook was that Nico looked wonderful. In the end, Koeman, again, blames the players and takes no accountability or recognition that he needed to improve. It was clear with the loss of Messi, many problems came to light and Koeman was not able to adjust. Soon after the result, FC Barcelona released an official statement saying Koeman had been relieved of his duties. The Culers rejoiced! Finally Laporta made the financial decision to sack Koeman despite a 12 Million Euro payout. There is definitely more money to be lost if Barca do not continue through the Champions League and stay in a higher spot in La liga. In even more important news, Xavi is again linked to replace Koeman. Nothing is official as of yet, but the only reports for a replacement are circulating around Xavi. This poses a few questions: Why was Koeman not fired earlier? Will Xavi have the authority to bench senior players (Busquets, Roberto, Pique) when they are not performing well? Aren't we just putting Xavi into the same coaching situation, a club legend, in the same position as Koeman. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The BarcaBreakdown discuss LIONEL MESSI AND ARGENTINA WINNING THE COPA AMERICA!!!! Messi finally has his international trophy THANK GOD! Italy win the Euros at Wembley against England in a thrilling penalty shoot out! We talk the triumph of Argentina, lead by Angel Di Maria's wonder goal, against Brazil at the Maracana! A historic victory that puts a check on one of the final boxes for Messi that was left open. De Paul, Di Maria, and Emiliano Martinez all looked wonderful against Brazil. We appreciate how Neymar congratulated Messi even in his moment of despair. We also discuss Italy and their fantastic Euros that culminated in a dramatic win against Harry Kane and England. We mostly discuss how Southgate's penalty strategy was flawed in subbing in Rashford and Sancho late, while having 19 year old Saka take the final penalty. MESSI DID IT!!! We still can't believe it. The BarcaBreakdown discuss the Euro 2020 group stages and the path to victory for our favorite FC Barcelona players. Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong have a decent shot at making the finals, and maybe more? Antoine Griezmann, Mbappe, Kante, Pogba etc. are part of a STACKED French team that are clear favorites. We saw Yuse make an incredibly poor call of Austria over Italy, though Austria did put up an amazing fight. What are you predictions? Please let us know in the comments! The BarcaBreakdown discuss the snoozefest 0-1 victory against Eibar, as Griezmann scores perhaps his last goal for Barca in what could be Koeman's last game. The second half looked better as Riqui Puig and Jordi Alba came on, changing Barcelona to a 4-3-3. A lot of questions remain over this team, as Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay look to be on their way to Barca! We discuss the most important needs to get a striker (to start while Aguero is on the bench), a new central defensive midfielder, and a center back to help partner with Araujo for next season. In Laporta we trust! He has led Barca to a golden age before and we hope to see similar success now. Koeman's job is definitely in the air, though because of a lack of top tier coaches we believe he may have 1 more season to choose his transfers and prove his worth as a coach.
