Laporta spoke about firing Ronald Koeman and regrets about not firing him sooner, while he also avoids specifically discussing Xavi's return as manager. Lionel Messi also had a HUGE interview with Sport, speaking about the frustration he had with Laporta's "I wish Messi offered to play for free" comments. Messi also came out and discussed how he will eventually be back to Barcelona once retired, and possibly work for the team as a Sporting Director. Messi does seem to continue to show his endless love for FC Barcelona, and is frustrated that there has been drama made about his departure. He also discusses the 2022 World Cup as he clarifies that he does not believe it will be his retirement party. Finally, Messi speaks about the possibility of winning his 7th Ballon D'oR this year. Though not a great marketing person for his own brand, Messi says that winning the Copa America matters more to him than any individual award.
