Michigan State vs Purdue | Highlights | November 6, 2021
This one hurts, I won't lie. Purdue is a quality team and winning on the road in the B1G is hard. Purdue earned this win, make no mistake about it. Giving up 536 passing yards is just unacceptable from our defense. David Bell is the best WR in the conference but still 217 yards, come on man. Aidan O'Connell really carved our defense up and our offense just couldn't score at the same pace. I have perspective and before the season if you would have told me that after 9 games we would be 8-1, #8 in the country, beat michigan AGAIN! I would have said RUN DAT!!! As much as yesterday hurt, we are having a GREAT season! For Michigan State’s Xavier Henderson, Saturday afternoon was not only a chance to even his overall record against Michigan to 2-2, but with it being almost certainly his final time playing the Wolverines, it gave the Spartans captain a chance to truly open up about how he felt after No. 8 Michigan State’s 37-33 victory over No. 6 Michigan at Spartan Stadium. He brought out the greatest hits as he walked into the interview room clapping, going back to 2007 in Mark Dantonio’s first season as Michigan State’s coach. The Spartans couldn’t hold a second-half lead as the Wolverines rallied for the four-point victory. Afterward, Michigan running back Mike Hart uttered the phrase that helped tip the series on its head, calling the Spartans Michigan’s “little brother.” “What they talking about now, huh? What they talking about now?” Henderson said to a crowded media room. “It sounded good. It sounded good before the game. Thanks Mike Hart. Coach D said it will never be over, it’s still not over.” Henderson was not done there. He called out former Wolverines Chase Winovich as well as Taylor Lewan, the Tennessee Titans offensive tackle who pulled out the “little brother” line this week when talking with the media. And he went after Braylon Edwards, too, who said he couldn’t name a single player on Michigan State’s defense. The No. 10/9 Michigan State football team improved to 7-0 on the season after defeating Indiana, 20-15, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium to reclaim the Old Brass Spittoon. PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Jalen "Speedy" Nailor and Payton Thorne started one of Michigan State football’s most historic days in the birthplace of college football. Kenneth Walker III joined them in the second half by continuing his assault on the school record books. Nailor caught two touchdown passes of 63 yards and a third of 65 yards from Thorne in the first half, and Walker ripped off a 94-yard scoring run early in the second half — the longest play from scrimmage in MSU history. That was enough to send No. 11 MSU to a 31-13 victory over Rutgers on Saturday. The Spartans improved to 6-0 overall for the first time since 2015 and 3-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 2017; they are bowl eligible for the first time under second-year coach Mel Tucker. MSU was projected to finish last in the Big Ten East Division. MSU travels to Indiana for a noon kickoff next Saturday “Football is not a game of perfect. We just want to reach our full potential, and we know that we haven't done that yet,” Tucker said. “We leave plays on the field — offense, defense and special teams. There are plays to be made that we don't make or maybe with a self-inflicted wound or penalty. “I don't believe in self-imposed limitations. We don’t how good we can be because the team has a collection of individual players. It's about how good can each player get.
