WICHITA, Kan. (April 17) - Anthony Beauregard scored the game-winner at 2:29 of overtime to push Wichita past Tulsa on Saturday night, 3-2, at INTRUST Bank Arena on #ILOVEWICHITA Night. Beauregard finished with three points while Stefan Fournier and Matteo Gennaro each had two. Hayden Lavigne earned his third win of the season, stopping 34 shots. The Thunder grabbed a 2-0 lead with two goals in the first. Beauregard scored his 17th of the season at 9:41. He found a rebound to the left of Devin Williams and put home a backhand to make it 1-0. At 11:28, Fournier recorded his 17th of the year as he got to look puck at the left post and beat Williams. Tulsa tied the game with two goals in the third. At 9:32, Greg Burmaster cut the lead to 2-1 with his ninth of the season. Ian McNulty evened things up at 11:24 when a puck that was dumped in by Michael McNicholas took a bad bounce off the end wall and found McNulty in the right circle. Lavigne was caught out of the net and the Oilers tied the game at two. Stephen Johnson was whistled for tripping with just over a minute left and the penalty would carry over into the extra period. After Wichita was able to get through the penalty, Beauregard thought he ended the game early in overtime. He took a pass from Dean Stewart in the slot and rifled a shot that caught the cross bar. The Thunder bench thought the puck went off the back bar, but the play was reviewed and the goal was waived off. Beauregard made up for it just a minute later as he carried the puck around the Oilers net. He tried to feed a pass to Stewart in the slot, but it redirected off the stick of Charlie Sampair and went past Williams for the game-winner. Wichita won its first game against Tulsa that was decided in overtime and snaps a five-game losing skid in the season-series. Beauregard had two goals and an assist. Fournier finished with a goal and an assist. Gennaro had two helpers. Jay Dickman collected an assist as well.

RAPID CITY, SD (April 3) - Wichita closed a two-game trip to the Black Hills on Saturday night, coming back to grab an overtime win over Rapid City, 3-2, at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Brayden Watts assisted on the game-tying goal and then scored the game-winner just 53 seconds into overtime. Beau Starrett and Stephen Johnson also scored and Evan Buitenhuis won his fourth game in a row, stopping 36 shots. Starrett opened the scoring at 7:39 of the first period. He fired a shot from the right boards that beat Adam Carlson to make it 1-0. Cam Clarke and Peter Crinella earned helpers on the goal. The best chance of the second for Rapid City came from Jack Suter. He was pulled down from behind on a breakaway at 9:11 and was awarded a penalty shot. Buitenhuis came up large as he stuffed the chance and the Thunder held onto the lead. In the third, Rapid City tied the game at one. During a net-front scrum, Buitenhuis got ran into by Tyler Coulter. Stefan Fournier was assessed a penalty after arguing the call and the Rush took advantage. Avery Peterson found a rebound at 9:16 and tallied his 18th of the year. At 10:56, Peter Quenneville gave Rapid City its first lead of the weekend. During a four-on-four situation, Kevin Spinozzi poked a loose puck under Buitenhuis near the left post and Quenneville pounced on the rebound across the crease for his 14th of the year. Wichita tied the game four minutes later when Watts found Johnson at the right hashmark and he buried a one-timer. The Thunder thought they took the lead with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Garrett Schmitz found a rebound near the left post and fired it in the net. The goal was waived off after a video review for goalie interference. Overtime was needed to decide the outcome. Anthony Beauregard had a great chance early in the extra session as he found himself alone on a breakaway. He made a terrific move to beat Carlson, but was tripped in the crease. He made up for it the next time up the ice as he found Watts on a two-on-one break and ended the game. Wichita had just one power play chance in the contest. It was also the first penalty shot against the Thunder this season. Beauregard extended his point-streak to five games with an assist. He has eight points over that stretch (2g, 6a). Watts collected his first game-winner of his career and has goals in back-to-back games. Starrett has points in three-straight and goals in two of the last three. Spencer Dorowicz has assists in back-to-back games.

INDEPENDENCE, MO (March 28) - Wichita closed a four-game mini series against Kansas City on Sunday afternoon, blanking the Mavericks by the final of 3-0 at Cable Dahmer Arena. Evan Buitenhuis earned his third career shutout, stopping all 30 shots he faced. Patrik Parkkonen, Mathieu Gagnon and Beau Starrett each scored for the Thunder. Wichita took a 1-0 lead just 6:20 into the game. Anthony Beauregard won a face-off back to Parkkonen and he fired one past Matt Ginn for his fourth of the year. In the second, Gagnon made it 2-0 at 13:59. Brayden Watts and Stephen Johnson came down on a two-on-one. Watts swept a backhand from the front of the net back to Gagnon and he wristed one past Ginn. Wichita had several chances to increase the lead early in the third. Ginn was forced to stop two odd-man chances along with a breakaway. Both teams had plenty of chances on the man advantage in the frame as eight minor penalties were called and there were a total of 13-combined power plays in the game. Starrett sealed it with an empty-net goal at 17:56 to make it 3-0. He stole a puck inside the Thunder zone and sent it the length of the ice for his eighth of the year. Wichita has won all four games in the season-series against Kansas City at Cable Dahmer Arena. Gagnon has goals in back-to-back contests. Parkkonen has points in back-to-back outings. Beauregard added an assist, giving him points in three-straight (1g, 4a). Buitenhuis has wins in back-to-back games.

WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 21) - Stefan Fournier scored with 1:30 left and Wichita held off a late comeback from Kansas City for a 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon at INTRUST Bank Arena. Anthony Beauregard scored his sixth of the year and Patrick Parkkonen added two helpers. Evan Weninger stopped 35 shots en route to his eighth win of the season. Through the first 40 minutes, Weninger and Matt Ginn shined and held the game even heading into the third. The two teams combined for 48 shots, but failed to light the lamp. Boston Leier gave the Mavericks a 1-0 lead at 2:23 of the third when he skated off the right wall and beat Weninger. At 12:16, Wichita took advantage of two delay of game penalties as Loren Ulett and Luke Bafia fired clearing attempts into the stands. Beauregard, who had a goal waived off in the first 30 seconds of the third, buried a wrist shot from the slot to tie the game. Fournier gave the Thunder their first lead at 18:23 when he jammed a rebound past Ginn at the right post to make it 2-1. The goal was reviewed by the official, but this time it was considered a good goal. Cam Clarke was called for a penalty with just over a minute to go, but the Mavericks failed to find the net and Wichita held on for the win. Wichita won its third game of the season when allowing the first goal. The Thunder recorded their first two-man advantage goal of the year and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Beauregard has points in 11-straight games. Fournier took over the team-lead with 10 goals. Parkkonen recorded his first two-point outing of the season. Dickman and Gennaro added assists as well.

WICHITA, Kan. (Jan.10) - Wichita blew open a close game on Sunday afternoon, scoring three times in the third period and skated away with a 6-2 win against Kansas City at INTRUST Bank Arena. Bobby McMann led all scorers with 4 points (1g, 3a) while Noel Hoefenmayer, Jeremy McKenna and Matteo Gennaro each had two. Evan Weninger made 37 saves to grab his second win of the season. Fournier put the Thunder on the board with an early power play goal during the first period. McMann caught a pass across the face-off dots, fired a shot towards the net and Bonar couldn't hold onto the rebound. The referee reviewed the play to make sure Fournier didn't kick it in with his skate and the goal was allowed to count. Kansas City tied it up seven minutes later during a delayed penalty. Bryan Lemos put home a long rebound for his third of the year to pull even at one. Jay Dickman broke the tie at 3:48 of the second. He redirected a pass from Sean Allen through Bonar to make it 2-1. McMann increased the lead to 3-1 as he stole the puck near the red line, raced up the left wing, got behind the defender and slid a backhand past Bonar. Kansas City answered on the power play at 11:38 as Willie Corrin cut the lead back to one with a shot from the slot. Towards the end of the frame, things started to get chippy as Jacob Graves threw a hit near the benches and Loren Ulett went after him. Both were sent off with an extra two minutes being given to Graves for tripping. In the third, Wichita opened up the floodgates and skated away with a 6-2 win. Gennaro notched his sixth of the season at 4:53 from the slot. At 8:15, Hoefenmayer increased the lead to 5-2 with his second of the year. He caught a pass at the right circle and buried a shot past Bonar's glove. Brayden Watts netted his first goal as a pro at 13:32 as he slammed home a one-timer from the right dot and made it 6-2. Wichita scored a power play goal for the first time in three games. The two teams combined for 52 penalty minutes. Kansas City had eight power plays, which ties a season-high for the opposition against the Thunder in a game this year. McMann had four points, which is a new career-high and snapped a two-game scoreless streak. Gennaro and Hoefenmayer both had a goal and an assist. McKenna added two more helpers. Fournier has goals in back-to-back games and scored in three of the four contests this week.

FORT WAYNE, IN (Mar. 11) - Fort Wayne used a five-goal second period to skate past Wichita on Wednesday night, 7-2, at Memorial Coliseum. Ostap Safin and Peter Crinella found the back of the net for the Thunder in the losing effort. After a scoreless first period, Brady Shaw broke the tie as he fired a wrist shot through a screen at 2:21 to make it 1-0. Safin quickly got the Thunder on the board less than a minute later as he caught a pass from Stefan Fournier and beat Stefanos Lekkas to tie it at one. The Komets scored the next four to grab a hold of the game. At 6:51, Drake Rysmha came down the middle of ice from center and beat Dylan Wells with a wrist shot to make it 2-1. Shawn Szydlowski scored a power play tally at 9:16 to make it 3-1. Just over a minute later, Mason Bergh tapped home a rebound past Wells to make it 4-1. Shaw book-ended the period with a shorthanded goal at 17:20 to make it 5-1. At the start of the third, Mitch Gillam came on in relief for Wells. The Thunder got on the board as Peter Crinella scored early to cut the lead to 5-2. He appeared to be going around the net, but a shot got through the legs of Lekkas and past him for Crinella's 19th of the season. Brett McKenzie recorded a pair of power play goals to close the scoring down the stretch for the 7-2. win. Wichita's streak of power play goals was snapped tonight, going 0-for-5. Fournier, Exell and Merasty collected assists.

INDEPENDENCE, MO (Mar. 8) - For the first time this season, Wichita won back-to-back games on the road with a comeback victory at Kansas City, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Stefan Fournier potted the game-winner late in the third and Mitch Gillam held down the fort for his 15th win of the year. Kansas City got off to a good start, scoring twice in the first 20 minutes. At 14:32, Mason Morelli got in behind the defense and scored to make it 1-0. Dylan Fitze made it 2-0 as he redirected a wrist shot from the blueline at 16:58. Towards the end of the second, Wichita started to generate scoring chances and cashed in at 13:17 when Jacob Graves found Lane Bauer near the net and he re-directed a backhand past Nick Schneider to make it 2-1. Garrett Schmitz tied the game at 9:30 of the third as he hammered a one-timer from the left circle past Schneider. At 13:31, Fournier gave Wichita its first lead of the game as he re-directed a pass from Ostap Safin and made it 3-2. Kansas City pulled Schneider down the stretch, but the Thunder held on for the win. The Thunder have scored power play goals in six-straight games. Fournier has goals in back-to-back games on the weekend. Schmitz notched his 7th of the year while Bauer collected his 2nd of the season.
