Blowout Sends Windsor Express To 2nd Straight NBL Canada Finals
Blowout Sends Windsor Express To 2nd Straight NBL Canada Finals

In the end, it wasn't even close. The Express scored 37 points in the first quarter and 38 more in the second, as Windsor clinched their second straight Central Conference Championship with a 120-101 victory over the Brampton A's on Sunday afternoon. The Express came out firing to score the first six points before Brampton threw their first punch, tying the game at 15-15. From there, Windsor pushed forward on a 22-7 run to finish the first quarter up 37-22. Windsor's Chris Commons and Brampton's Zane Johnson carried their teams in the first, with Commons dropping 11, while Johnson went 5-for-5 behind the arc for 15 of the A's points. The Express kept the pedal down, extending their lead to as many as 35 points, and closing out the first half with a massive 75-41 advantage. Brampton showed they weren't going away quietly, outscoring Windsor 29-17 in the third quarter, cutting their deficit to 22, but Windsor never let the A's get closer, closing out their second Conference Championship in a row. Chris Commons finished with a team high 26 points, while Tony Bennett added 24. The victory continues a shocking trend of success in elimination games for the Express franchise. In nine games in which the Express could be eliminated from the postseason, Windsor is 8-1. The Windsor Express will face the Halifax Rainmen for the NBL Championship. Island Storm Force Game 5 Back In Halifax
Island Storm Force Game 5 Back In Halifax

The Island STORM took their close to 1,300 fans on a roller coaster ride at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown on Tuesday night on route to a 113-105 win over the Halifax Rainmen and force the best of seven Atlantic Division Final of the NBL Canada back to Halifax for game five. The Rainmen lead the series three games to one. While the Rainmen were talking series sweep, the STORM and their Fans were having none of it. The STORM started the game strong with a 9-0 run which led to a 33-18 lead after the first quarter. The STORM stretched that lead to 19 points, finishing the half up 59-40. But like the last two games, the Rainmen owned the third quarter outscoring the STORM 40-21 as the two teams were deadlocked at 80 after the third. And that's when it got dicey for the STORM and their Fans. The lead changed hands a couple of times but with 2:10 left in the fourth the Rainmen held a 7 point lead and it looked like their talk of a sweep would come true. But that's when the STORM dug in defensively while Brandon Robinson and Billy Rush started to hit some shots from behind the arch. In Fact, the STORM would score the last 15 points of the ballgame and the Rainmen could only foul and watch the STORM hit their shots from the charity stripe. Robinson scored a game high 30 on the night while grabbing 7 rebounds and handing out 6 assists. He was 9-16 from the floor, including 6-9 from the three point line. Rashad Whack scored 18, Nick Okorie 16 with 5 assists, and Olu Famutimi scored 12 of the bench and provided a tough defensive presents in the game for the STORM. Forrest Fisher had 28 for the Rainmen while Kevin Young scored 17 and pulled down 12 rebounds for the games only double-double.
