Neymar sends message to Man Utd fans ahead of PSG Champions League clash
Neymar sends message to Man Utd fans ahead of PSG Champions League clash

Neymar has claimed Paris Saint-Germain's upcoming Champions League clash with Manchester United will be a "match for football lovers".  PSG travel to Old Tafford to face United in the first leg of the round of 16 encounter on February 12th, with the return match in Paris on March 6th.  The French champions are 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with two games in hand and have set their sights on Champions League glory this season.  They were installed as heavy favourites for the tie as soon as the draw was made last month, but United's form has picked up under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has overseen seven successive victories in all competitions.  And Neymar is expecting an epic encounter.  "We are winning everything," he told Canal+. "The Champions League is every footballer's dream.  "We realise it is difficult, but our team can do it. We have high-quality players, we can aim high. We are on the right path.  "We have a great match coming up [against Manchester United]. It will be a great match for football lovers, and we are happy to face great teams."   Neymar was also asked about reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid but insisted there was nothing "concrete" to discuss.  He said: "There is always speculation about my name. Since I became a professional footballer they have always said that I was going to leave other clubs.  “But there is nothing concrete. As soon as there is something definitive, be reassured, I will tell everyone.”

Man City have their own bounce to take into Huddersfield game
Man City have their own bounce to take into Huddersfield game

Bounce for City  Pep Guardiola had spent most of Monday preparing for Manchester City's win over Wolves but by the time he sat down for his post-match media duties he was well aware of the major departure at Huddersfield.  David Wagner was still backed as the right man to turn things round at the John Smith's Stadium, but one point out of the last thirty sees them marooned at the bottom of the table.  There is the potential for the dreaded new-manager bounce, with Mark Hudson in interim charge and an appointment on a permanent successor expected soon.  City, though, have their own bounce to be encouraging for. The last time they headed out on the road their state was fragile, having lost the last two games and handed the initiative in the title race to Liverpool.  After four significant home games to kick off 2019, the Blues will be buoyant making the short journey to West Yorkshire.   Aguero vs Jesus is back  For the first time possibly this season, the debate over whether Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus (or both!) should start is back.  It has been a mismatch for most of the campaign but finally Jesus is scoring goals with a smile on his face, and Aguero hasn't played since the Liverpool game at the start of the year.  City need as much healthy competition as they can and this is some of the finest. De Bruyne to return?  Speaking of, it was notable after the Wolves game that Guardiola spoke of how important Kevin De Bruyne's introduction had been in the game even though City had already won the game by that point.  The Belgian was singled out as having the key attributes needed to unlock deep defences and Huddersfield are likely to set out that way on Sunday.  It will be a tough ask leaving either Silva out but De Bruyne could well be the perfect man for the task. Pressure is unavoidable  The two-horse race for the title sees Liverpool take on Crystal Palace at the weekend in a game you would expect them to win. They can extend the lead to seven points, piling the pressure onto City before they play.  But any slip from the leaders will put a different slant on the task in front of Guardiola and his side. However much noise they are able to shut out in terms of the title race, their matches will be pitted against Liverpool's for as long as they are jostling for first place and that intensity will grow as the games tick down.  Handling pressure well is required for knockout competitions, so it can only do City good for the rest of the year. Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals what he REALLY thinks about Jose Mourinho
Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals what he REALLY thinks about Jose Mourinho

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Mourinho as manager last month and, in the time since, has completely transformed the Red Devils. Last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham was their sixth win in a row after previous wins over Cardiff, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Reading. Solskjaer appeared to aim a dig at his Manchester United predecessor’s style of play last week, saying the club were no longer doing ‘stupid backwards or sideways passing.’ Yet the 45-year-old believes Jose Mourinho is still a fantastic manager despite his troubles at United. “Yeah, why shouldn’t he,” he said when asked if Mourinho can return to management at a top club. “Because he’s a fantastic manager and with the results he’s had at don’t think he’ll be struggling for work. “I can’t really comment on everything he says and I’m enjoying working with these boys and that’s all I can say.” Solskjaer also opened up on his winning start to life at United.  “As I’ve said before you go into very single game as a Manchester United coach as a player or manager thinking you’ll win the next one,” he added. “That’s just the nature of this club. “We’ve had six good games but the next one is the most important one. “Everyone said about Tottenham being the test, I don’t think that’s a test in attitude, the players are gonna be up for that game, I’m looking for a reaction in a home game against a team you should dominate and be better than, that’s the attitude if we go out there and do it in these games it’s these are the points that will get you up the table.” Solskjaer has been tipped to take the United job on permanently amid his side’s fine form.  And the 45-year-old has confirmed he is enjoying life back in Manchester - and will soon be moving out of the Lowry Hotel. “I’m still in the hotel but I’ve found a place and won’t be too long,” he said. “I’ve been driving around a bit and finding my bearings. “I’ve met mates so it’s not like I’m on my own.”

David Brooks shows why Man United and Tottenham are keen to sign him
David Brooks shows why Man United and Tottenham are keen to sign him

Long before David Brooks had done enough to convince Bournemouth to pay Sheffield United £11million for him last summer, Everton had spotted the potential.Academy scouts at Goodison Park would rave about him as he made a name for himself after being shunned by Manchester City but a deal never came to fruition and, after impressing under Chris Wilder at Bramall Lane, Eddie Howe got a deal done. It's funny then that, as Everton huffed and puffed their way to a third win in 10 games on Sunday, the 21-year-old Welshman offered the creativity and flair that the Toffees are sorely lacking.  Brooks was a product of City's bloated academy but joined Sheffield United at 17 after failing to make the grade. He endured a tough loan spell at Halifax before finally being given a chance in the Championship that he most definitely took.Howe had no hesitation in bringing him to the Premier League and is known to have been amazed by how little one-on-one tuition has been necessary for a player who has started all bar three league fixtures, scoring five goals this campaign. In fact his development has been so impressive that going into Sunday's clash at Goodison Park, the so-called 'Warrington Maradona' had been linked with a big money move to Manchester United and Tottenham. It is easy to see why.Typically deployed on the right side of midfield to allow him to cut onto his natural left foot, Brooks instead played as a roaming No 10 for large parts of the game.Within minutes he had picked apart the Everton defence and some neat footwork down the right saw him breeze past Lucas Digne and pull back an inviting cross into the box that came to nothing.Moments later the Welshman had a shout for a penalty. He slalomed through two defenders as though they weren't there and found himself bundled over, only for referee Anthony Taylor to dismiss his claims. If there has been one criticism leveled at Brooks since he exploded onto the Premier League scene it is his ability in front of goal.Midway through the first half, the visitors stole possession deep in Everton territory and Brooks did marvelously well to hold his run, stay onside and then latch on to Junior Stanislas' deft through ball. With the ball at Brooks' feet, he looked uncertain over when and how to strike his shot. As he made up his mind, the ball ran slightly underneath his right foot and forced him to push his effort wide and on to the post.Missing a chance you should score can knock confidence but just a moment later Brooks produced an outrageous flick on the edge of his own box to launch a counter attack. His influence on the game dwindled in the second-half and he was withdrawn by Howe after 82 minutes as Everton claimed all three points thanks to goals from Kurt Zouma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.Sportsmail columnist Jamie Redknapp described Brooks as 'the best player on the pitch' at half-time and he certainly showed signs of why the top six are all keeping tabs.Reports suggest Bournemouth are considering doubl

Man Utd news: How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shocked United stars in Old Trafford dressing room
Man Utd news: How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shocked United stars in Old Trafford dressing room

Solskjaer was appointed by Ed Woodward on a temporary basis in December after Jose Mourinho paid the price for United’s worst ever start to a Premier League season. And the Red Devils have since strung together an impressive run of six wins on the bounce in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and conceding just three. Manchester United’s fifth win in that sequence came a little under two weeks ago as they dumped Championship side Reading out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage. It seems Solskjaer saw that match as the perfect opportunity to show a different side of his personality as a warning in case things go sour at Old Trafford. According to the London Evening Standard, Solskjaer left United players shocked as he screamed at them in the dressing room despite leading 2-0. A Juan Mata penalty and Romelu Lukaku’s injury time strike had effectively put the match beyond Reading’s reach. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not altogether happy with the performance and used the opportunity to remind his much-changed team he’s no soft touch. Solskjaer’s approach seems to have earned him more admirers amongst the United squad, some of whom already adored him due to his playing exploits in Manchester. And it has been claimed there is support for him to be handed the reins on a full-time basis once the season draws to a close. However Paul Ince, who left United the year before Solskjaer arrived, claims he could have had the same impact as the Norwegian. And he’s claimed United should carry on their pursuit of No 1 managerial target Mauricio Pochettino rather than appoint Solskjaer. "We can’t get too sucked in with what Ole’s done," Ince said. "Let’s be honest, it couldn’t get any worse at Manchester United before Jose Mourinho left. "There was a dark cloud over the entire club, the players, the fans and the staff. It was impacting performances on the pitch. "Ole’s come in, a friendly face at the club with a calming influence and it seems as though the players have upped their effort as a result. "The shackles are off, but that doesn’t mean that Ole is the right man for the job. I could have gone in and done the same thing, so could Steve Bruce. "Anyone could have gone in and done what he has done, it wasn’t a hard thing to do to give those players freedom and improve the mood. "So, for the next few years what the club need to do is bring in a manager that can seriously get United competing with City and Liverpool. And of the options available, Pochettino is the man to do that. "The club shouldn’t be making rash decisions, picking a manager just because he’s had six wins on the bounce, all of which came against below average sides bar one. You’d like to think that even under Mourinho they’d have won those games. "People say the acid test was against Tottenham, but United won that by default of Tottenham having an off-game in terms of scoring and De Gea being so fantastic. They didn’t outclass Spurs at all. "It’s easy to default to the Ole bandwagon, but the

He also registered 142 caps for France and lifted the 1998 World Cup.   Man Utd join Arsenal and Tottenham in race for Roma star   Manchester United have put pressure on Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League and now they are providing competition to their rivals in the race to sign Cengiz Under .   According to ESPN FC , Roma winger Under is open to leaving Italy this summer, with Bayern Munich also interested in the €50million-rated star.  Turkey international Under is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2022, meaning the Italian club are in no rush to let him go.   Man Utd set to complete transfer of Norwegian wonderkid   Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to land a Norwegian prodigy at Manchester United - swiping him from under the nose of Liverpool .  Fourteen-year-old wonderkid Isak Hansen-Aaroen is reportedly set to move to United from Tromso IL.   Liverpool and Everton had also shown particular interest in the midfielder, but it appears Solskjaer's side have won the race for the boss's Norwegian compatirot.   Tromso chiefs Svein-Morten Johansen and Kristian Hoydal are set to travel to Manchester for talks with the Premier League giants, according to Bergens Tidende.  Hansen-Aaroen is a United supporter and the move would be a dream come true for the teenage prodigy.

Hugo Lloris reveals Tottenham's target after Man Utd defeat
Hugo Lloris reveals Tottenham's target after Man Utd defeat

Hugo Lloris has warned Tottenham they must show they can manage without Harry Kane – or risk having to look over their shoulders.  Spurs face a crunch period without their top scorer and talisman as Kane is facing a spell out with an ankle injury.   They play Fulham on Sunday, as they try to cling on in the title race, Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-final next week, and then face an FA Cup tie at Crystal Palace .  It leaves manager Mauricio Pochettino’s men facing a major test as they are set to be without both Kane and Heung-Min Son, who is away on international duty with South Korea in the Asia Cup.  Keeper Lloris said: “We have now got two days to switch off and then we have all week to prepare for the next few games because not only is there Fulham, but Chelsea and the FA Cup, too.  “We are still involved in four competitions, but the main thing is to finish in the top four. We have said that from the beginning.  “Everyone is talking about the teams in front of us, but it is important to keep an eye on the teams behind because in football things can change very quickly.  “In the League Cup we have an advantage, but it is going to be tough at Stamford Bridge.  “Then there is the FA Cup and Champions League coming quickly, so there is no time to think too much, just time to recover and be ready in our minds for fighting.”   Kane hobbled off against Manchester United on Sunday, which left Spurs’ title hopes in tatters and a deeper concern that his ankle injury curse has struck again.  Kane missed a long spell in each of the last two seasons with ankle problems and, even though this is a different ankle, it is another worry.   Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola infamously referred to Spurs as “the Harry Kane team”.  But Lloris said: “We all know how important Harry is in our team, but he is not all of our team. Football is about the team and every player is ready to help the team.  “During the season, you have ups and downs, and you have to always adapt to those and we will see about ‘H’.  “But everybody is ready and the most important thing is the mind – being ready to fight, being ready to help, being ready to compete.  “It is better when you have all your best players on the field, but that can happen here or it can happen at other clubs.  “Every season is different. Every player is different. With or without him, we will see how we do. The most important thing is to prepare for the games as well as we can. We need to try to find a freshness and the right energy.  “Throughout the whole team, you have important players but the main thing is the collective. It is the only way to get trophies. It is not about one or two players, but we all know the importance of ‘H’.”   Lloris was searingly honest about Tottenham ’s defeat to United and refused to blame bad luck or David de Gea’s heroics as he claimed Spurs got what they deserved.  The France World Cup winner added: “In football, you only get what you deserve, and if we didn’t scor
