AFC Cup: Gokulam Kerala vs Mohun Bagan 4 - 2 Riding high on their successive I-League triumph, Gokulam Kerala FC stunned ATK Mohun Bagan 4-2 in a six-goal thriller in their AFC Cup debut at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Wednesday. In a battle between the two heavyweights of the top-tier ISL and the second-tier I-League, Gokulam Kerala dished out a much more compact and technical display than Bagan. Fresh from winning an unprecedented I-League double at the same venue last Saturday, Gokulam Kerala led the way with their Slovenian centre-forward Luka Majcen (50', 65') striking a brace. Rishad Puthanveettil (57') and substitute Jithin Subran (89') slammed one each to seal three points and give a reality check to the ISL giants and the local favourites. Mohun Bagan showed some spark with goals from Pritam Kotal (53') and Liston Colaco (80'), but their defence, in the absence of Sandesh Jhingan and Tiri, who was stretchered out after sustaining an injury in the 40th minute, crumbled in the second-half. The win also gave the Malabarians an early advantage in securing the only available berth from group D for the AFC Cup Inter-Zone semi-finals. Playing in front of a strong home support, ATK Mohun Bagan squandered many chances in a dominating first half. Fijian star centre-forward Roy Krishna missed back-to-back opportunities in the 18th minute -- first a one-on-one from Liston Colaco's cross and then from Joni Kauko's assist, when the ball came off the inside of the post. In the 29th minute, Kauko had a shot at the target from inside the box but the Finnish midfielder hit straight to Rakshit Dagar, as Gokulam Kerala had anxious few moments to begin with. The two-time reigning I-League champions were cautious to start with in their maiden appearance in the continental showpiece, resulting in a goalless first half. For the Mariners, who made an inter-zonal semifinal exit in the last edition, those were the few chances they had as the tables turned after the break. The Vincento Alberto Annese-coached side struck thrice in the space of 11 minutes to virtually close out the game. Gokulam's in-form Majcen, who was the team's top-scorer (13 goals) in the I-League, led its second-half domination to force Mohun Bagan defence into submission. It was Emil Benny who initiated the move from outside the box to pass it on to Thahir Zaman on the right, setting it up for Majcen's strong finish. In an action-packed second half, Mohun Bagan took just three minutes to equalise when Colaco's corner found Kotal right in front of the goal. Four minutes later, their I-League final hero Rishad slotted into the left-bottom corner from a brilliant counterattack. Majcen completed his double after Jourdain Fletcher won the ball from substitute Ashutosh Mehta to give a through ball to the Slovenian, who capitalised to make it 3-1. Colaco reduced the margin with a stunning freekick to give the crowd a ray of hope, but Jithin came off the bench to score from a delightful one-two with Majcen to seal the issue in Gokulam's favour.
Gokulam Kerala FC 1-3 Sreenidi Deccan Football Club. Here goes the final whistle and Lalromawia's hat-trick blows the title race wide open as Sreenidi Deccan stun Gokulam Kerala in a frantic match. Sharif scored at the start of the second half but it was not enough from the defending champions as we prepare for a grandstand final round of Hero I-league.
Defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC set a record by extending their unbeaten streak to 18 games after completing a facile 2-0 win over luckless RoundGlass Punjab FC in the Hero I-League 21/22 at the Kalyani Stadium. Having equalled Churchill Brothers record set 12 years ago just four days ago, Gokulam Kerala FC had Jourdain Fletcher's finish a well weaved counterattack in style and later had substitute Sreekuttan VS get his name on the scorers list with a dramatic finish deep into the second half. Victory for Gokulam Kerala was the tenth in league and the first in Phase 2 and swelled their tally to 33 points which meant being perched at the top of the standings. RoundGlass Punjab FC began proceedings, but the early push was by Gokulam Kerala FC which livened up the contest. Emil Benny finding himself space inside the box on the left tried on goal only to have custodian Jaspreet Singh dive and punch the effort out. Pushing hard, RoundGlass Punjab created a slur of moves that pushed Gokulam Kerala to the wall. Maheson Singh Tongbram was the centre of action during this period. He first took on Sharif M Mohammad on the edge of the box on the right, cut past and let fly only to have goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar parry the ball over. Minutes later, Maheson used his footwork to beat two defenders, but his top-of-the-box left-footed grounder missed the target wide at the far post. RoundGlass Punjab were left ruing when Kean Lewis soft-touched a volley from close after the Gokulam defence was found wanting and the resultant loose ball had unmarked Maheson surprisingly go over. Gokulam Kerala FC, who was at the receiving end after RoundGlass Punjab put pressure then did the unthinkable leading to the opening goal. Following a corner-kick, Jithin MS launched a quick counterattack from the right flank. Picking up a quick and intelligently ball rolled out by goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar, who latched on to Kean Lewis' corner-kick, Jitin used the space ahead with a solo run. He then released a pass brilliantly into the path of Jourdain Fletcher, who with a pacy dash beat Shankar Sampingiraj first and then angularly finished from inside the box past goalkeeper Jaspreet Singh. The goal spurred another penetrative run by Gokulam Kerala FC which almost had Tahir Zaman score. The move was orchestrated by a brilliant defence splitting pass by captain Sharif M Mohammad who moved up on the left in his own half by combining with Fletcher. Zaman picking up the through pass got past a defender, which also forced the goalkeeper Jaspreet leave his charge. However, the attempt that followed was too tight to finish at the near post. Closing into the halfway stage, RoundGlass Punjab had Travis Major's cross from the right go abegging after Freddy Lallawmawma managed a feeble header that looped gently. Leading by a goal, Gokulam Kerala almost had Fletcher score on the switchover. However, he was done in by a brilliant block by defender Josef Yarney, who stretched long, nullifying the shot.

Luka Majcen slotted in a late penalty to hand Gokulam Kerala a point against table-toppers Mohammedan SC in their I-League 2021-22 match on Friday at the Naihati stadium. Andelo Rudovic scored the opening goal for Mohammedan early on which was later cancelled out by Luka Majcen as both teams shared the spoils. The game began with Mohammedan SC under the pump as Gokulam tried to establish an early lead through Emil Benny, who tried to score a long ranger in the third minute of the game but the shot missed the goal by inches. Mohammedan were quick to respond as they strung an attack of their own in the sixth minute. Faisal Ali tried a shot from close range, but Gokulam’s goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar showed great reflexes to prevent a goal. Both sides tried to claim their authority over the midfield in the opening few minutes of the game. In the 14th minute, Rakshit Dagar produced two fine saves to keep the scores level as Mohammedan tried to up the tempo of the game. Quick passes and fast-paced football were on full display as both teams were trying to break the deadlock.
VP Suhair Bahrain beat India 2-1 in an international friendly at the Al Muharraq Stadium in Bahrain, on Wednesday. The hosts had taken the lead through Mohamed Al Hardan (38') before Rahul Bheke (59') brought India back in the game but for a late strike by Mahdi Al-Humaidan (88') that ended up as a winner for Bahrain. India take on Belarus in another friendly on Saturday, March 27.
Gokulam Kerala FC extended their unbeaten run at the start of the Hero I-League 2021-22 campaign to five matches with a 3-2 win over Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU FC) at the Kalyani Stadium on Monday. An early goal from Jithin MS, followed by a brace from Luka Majcen saw the Malabarians get the better of TRAU FC, who registered two goals thanks to a brace from Fernandinho. Defending champions Gokulam Kerala wasted no time in taking the game to their opponents, finding an early breakthrough in the 2nd minute of the contest. Jithin MS scored for the Malabarians for the third game running, as he made an undetected run into the TRAU FC box to get on the end of a cross from the left flank. TRAU goalkeeper Amrit Gope misjudged the flight of the ball and got stranded in no man’s land, leaving Jithin the easy task of directing the ball into the empty net. Despite trailing, TRAU FC didn’t lack for any attacking intent of their own, and levelled the contest through Brazilian import Fernandinho in the 8th minute. After Kishan Singh had his snapshot saved by Rakshit Dagar, Fernandinho slid in to poach the rebound and bring TRAU back on level terms. The parity was to last for a brief period of ten minutes only, as Gokulam Kerala’s talisman Luka Majcen put the defending champions in front once again in the 18th minute. Majcen rose highest in the box to meet a cross from the left flank and place his header back across goal, leaving keeper Amrit Gope no chance. Gokulam Kerala had a golden opportunity to extend their lead further in the 20th minute when in-form striker Majcen turned provider this time, playing a lofted through ball for Thahir Zaman. Zaman did well to bring down the ball with his first touch, but skied his finish well over the bar. Gokulam skipper Sharif Mohammad had a look at goal from a free kick in the 39th minute. Although the Afghan international struck the dead ball well, his shot didn’t dip enough in time to draw a save from Amrit Gope. An eventful first half ended with Gokulam narrowly leading the contest 2 – 1 at half time. Gokulam Kerala doubled their lead on the other side of the break in the 55th minute. After playing a short corner that failed to find its mark in the box, the partially cleared ball landed at the feet of Luka Majcen. The Slovenian didn’t need a second invitation to grab the chance with both hands, unleashing a first time finish on the volley that rifled into the roof of the net. With the chips down, TRAU FC showed their fighting spirit once again with an instant response in the 56th minute. Fernando set out on a mazy dribble on the edge of the Gokulam box and bamboozled the defence to come onto his left foot and send a low drive into the far corner, thereby matching Luka Majcen for a brace each. With the final half an hour promising a nervy showdown, TRAU FC tried to pile the pressure on the defending champions and force an equaliser. TRAU’s best chance came in the dying moments of the game as they committed more and more bodies in attack. With the Gokulam penalty area extremely crowded, a looping cross was met with a towering header at the back post by Akobir Turaev, but his effort was matched with a fantastic save by Rakshit Dagar on the goal line. Gokulam Kerala forward Luka Majcen was awarded the Hero of the match award for his brace resulting in a victory for his side, taking the Malabarians to the top of the Hero I-League table. kerala blasters 2021-22 lineup, kerala blasters live match today, kerala blasters live match, kerala blasters live match today highlights, kerala blasters live match today malayalam commentary, kerala blasters live durand cup, kerala blasters live streaming, kerala blasters live football, kerala blasters live football match, kerala blasters official live, kerala blasters official channel live, kerala blasters official live match, live match of kerala blasters, kerala blasters live match today, Kerala Blasters Live Score
Kerala Blasters inched closer to a place in the final with a 1-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC courtesy of a Sahal Abdul Samad goal in the first leg of the Indian Super League semifinal, on Friday. Sahal scored in the 38th minute to hand Kerala the lead and it could have been 2-0 for the yellow shirts had Adrian Luna's knuckleball free-kick not ricocheted off the woodwork. Kerala's defence was rock-solid too, withstanding the initial threat from Jamshedpur with Marko Leskovic leading from the front. League Shield winners Jamshedpur looked off-colour upfront with Daniel Chima Chukwu spurning two gilt-edged chances in the first half and Greg Stewart also missing his usual trickery in the final third. The second leg, on Thursday, will be the decider but Kerala will go into the tie with an advantage.
