Keegan and Kris Murray have emerged as versatile weapons for the Iowa men's basketball team, with Keegan even garnering significant NBA Draft interest. It can be hard to believe for two players who were under 6 feet tall and primarily 3-point shooters early in their high school careers. On this episode of T'd Up with Connor and Patrick, the twins discuss their basketball journeys, which included a stop at prep school after their time at Cedar Rapids Prairie. T’d Up with Connor and Patrick is presented by Hames Homes.

Panelists: Chris Jones (University of Iowa), Michael Schmidt (IEC), John Norwood (Polk County Soil and Water Conservation)

By the time No. 7 Iowa and No. 19 Illinois tip off Friday night in Champaign, Ill., it will have been eight days since the last time the Hawkeyes played. They’ve had plenty of time to stew over a loss to Indiana that snapped a five-game winning streak. But was there anything to take away from that game last Thursday beyond poor shooting? The Gazette’s Mike Hlas and Nathan Ford discuss on this edition of the On Iowa Podcast, plus preview Friday’s game against the Illini — one that is sure to deliver intensity — and this tough upcoming stretch made even tougher by some Big Ten rescheduling due to COVID-19. One team that hasn’t stopped winning is Drake. The 14-0 Bulldogs get a shoutout at the end of the show ahead of their game Wednesday at Missouri State. Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery slips into hyperbole at times when his describing his players, but he was on the button Saturday when he called Keegan Murray’s play against Rutgers “fabulous at both ends.” Murray had 14 points, a team-high nine rebounds, three blocked shots and three steals. He sank two free throws with 16.4 seconds left to give his team a 76-75 lead it didn’t surrender in an eventual 77-75 win. With 19 seconds left and things long since decided, Minnesota took a timeout with the ball at the Iowa 4. Play began to resume, only to have Iowa counter with a timeout of its own. Then another and another. Clearly a bit of gamesmanship. “No sense taking them on the bus with us,” Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz said. “I think you guys have reminded me of that a couple of times over the last 22 years. Figured we’d take Floyd home with us and leave the timeouts here.” Read more: https://www.thegazette.com/subject/sports/hawkeyes/iowa-football/iowa-vs-minnesota-score-timeouts-20201113
