Mets @ Cardinals 9/1/00 (Edmonds' Walk-Off Blast)

In an NLCS Preview, the Cardinals and Mets battled for three at Busch II. In Game One of this series, the Cardinals won on a Jim Edmonds blast off of the father of some future NFL guy ... In Game Two, the Cardinals bested Mike Hampton and the Orange and Black via a Fernando Vina walk-off single. In Game Three, the Mets blew an 8th Inning lead, the Cardinals blew a 9th Inning lead, and Jim Edmonds hit another walk-off homer in the 11th. I so wish I had more than just game one of this series to show you.

The Cardinals put up double-digit runs for the second day in a row at the Friendly Confines, aided by a two-run homer and a Grand Slam off the bat of Brian Jordan. Keep your eye out for Tony La Russa's current Analytics Coordinator with the White Sox, Shelley Duncan, on the bench!

Cardinals @ Mets 8/20/98 (McGwire #51; Game Two of Double Header)

After winning the first game of a double header, in which Mark McGwire hit his 50th Home Run (becoming the first player in MLB History to hit that many in three consecutive seasons), the Cardinals looked for the Double Header sweep, with newly acquired starter Darren Oliver (who would later play a pivotal role in the Cardinals' dramatic Game Six win in the 2011 World Series) throwing for St. Louis. McGwire hit his 51st in the top of the 1st, Brian Jordan added a homer of his own, and it looked like the Cardinals were well on their way to their second victory of the day. Unfortunately, as was the case with the Cards teams in '97, '98, and '99, the pitching could not hold the lead.

Braves @ Cardinals 8/5/00 (Garrett Stephenson Complete Game Shutout; Will Clark Homers)

In his second home start with the Redbirds, Will Clark continued to impress, homering in the bottom of the first in support of Garrett Stephenson, who hurled a complete game five-hit shutout.
