Arrival in Abuja for Nigeria vs Ghana World Cup qualifier
The Black Stars could only manage a draw against Gabon on Friday, January 14 as Jim Allevinah scored late in the game to earn a draw for Gabon at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium. Ghana went into Friday’s game as they search for their first win in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations but failed to protect their lead. Andre Ayew gave Ghana the lead in the 18th minute with a cracking finish from outside the penalty box after receiving a pass into his path from Thomas Partey. After opening the score, Ghana looked to have relaxed the game as they allowed Gabon to see much of the ball. The Panthers should have equalised before the half-time break but Joojo Wollacott was on hand to make a fine save from Athanase Bouanga’s free-kick. The Balck Stars headed into the break with the scoreline at 1-0. #AFCON2021 #BLACKSTARS #COMEROON2021
Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released a statement to disprove the allegations made by the South Africa Football Association (SAFA). SAFA on Wednesday, November 17, held a press conference to detail their observations from their final group game against Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Despite Ghana progressing to the play-off round of the qualifiers, South Africa have been persistent with their efforts to downplay the integrity of the match. Before the game at Cape Coast, there were various stories about how South Africa team was made to travel for nine hours from Accra to Cape Coast. I have had mixed reactions and feedback on why FIFA could order a replay of World Cup qualifier. Many have said South Africa won't get the evidence to their claims. I say, FIFA did not ask Senegal to provide them stats of J.O Lamptey's officiating record. Sports radar, FIFA EWS, commissioning of top 14 or 15 referees from Africa, did come from Senegal. Engaging a Prof from Scotland in their investigation of the matter did not come from Senegal. FIFA will find a way of establishing South Africa's allegations. They won't rely on only evidence provided by SAFA. If they find nothing, they will throw it out. Just remain open-minded about what the outcome could be.
World football governing body FIFA has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to furnish the secretariat of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee with any comments it deems appropriate on the protest filed by South Africa Football Association(SAFA) by November 20, 2021, Joy Sports can report. In a letter dated November 17, 2021, to SAFA, copying the Ghana FA, FIFA said the protest filed by the football association of South Africa will be forwarded to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on November 23, 2021.
Second-half substitute Isaac Oppong provided two assists and scored a well-taken volley as Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Dreams FC at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday. Dreams’ marquee signing Fatawu Issahaku, who was drafted straight into the team, scored a wonderful solo game on his debut. The 17-year-old glided his way past four Kotoko players before lifting the ball past an onrushing Razak Abalora. The goal came against the round of play as the Porcupines were starting to assert their dominance in the second half.
Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has explained how his team recovered from a goal down to beat Dreams FC 3-1 on matchday one of the Ghana premier league. #AsanteKotoko, #DreamsFC
