NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Joel Berry II and Theo Pinson each scored 19 points, and No. 4 North Carolina bounced back from a loss to Wofford with a convincing 86-72 victory over Ohio State on Saturday. Pinson scored six points on flawless free throw shooting inside the final 1:06 of the game as the Tar Heels (11-2) kept the Buckeyes (10-4) at bay in the CBS Sports Classic. Cameron Johnson — a graduate transfer from Pittsburgh whose recent debut was delayed by injuries — scored 13 points in just his second game for North Carolina, which had 13 3-pointers. Keita Bates-Diop had 26 points — one point shy of his career high — for Ohio State. He shot 10 of 17 for the game and scored 19 points in the second half, including eight straight for Ohio State during a late 13-4 run that briefly pulled the Buckeyes within 78-69 with 1:10 to play.

Joe Chealey added 14 points and Cameron Johnson scored 11 for the Cougars (9-3), who beat the Chanticleers (6-7) for the 16th time in the last 17 games and lead the all-time series 36-13. Zac Cuthbertson paced Coastal Carolina with 19 points, Jaylen Shaw added 12 points and six assists and reserves Demario Beck and Artur Labinowicz scored 10 each. Riller scored nine in a game-opening 12-4 run for the Cougars, but Coastal Carolina answered with a 12-2 spurt to regain the lead. The game featured 10 ties and 17 lead changes. Shaw's two free throws with one second left in the first half gave the Chanticleers a 27-26 lead.

USC (7-4) overcame a nine-point deficit in the first half and narrowed the deficit to 33-29 at halftime. The Trojans emerged from the break on a 20-5 run with Stewart and Metu scoring 15 to put USC up 49-38 with 14:39 to play. The Trojans shot 61 percent (17 of 28) from the field in the second half and were 27 of 55 (49.1) overall. Stewart, a 6-foot-5 senior guard, shot 6 of 14 from the field, but made three of his seven attempts from beyond the arc, and was 5 of 6 at the free-throw line. He scored 15 of his points after halftime.

(AP) — Devin Sibley scored 24 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the floor and Andrew Brown added 18 points and Furman beat UNC Wilmington 90-84 on Sunday. Early in the second half, Brown made a 3-pointer for a 50-48 Furman lead and the Paladins never trailed again. The shot triggered a 15-5 run that involved 3s from Brown, John Davis III and Sibley. Later, Ty Taylor II had back-to-back layups to trim UNC Wilmington's deficit to 79-75 with 6:08 left. The Seahawks cut the deficit to three points on three later occasions but couldn't get closer. Brown and Davis made 3 of 4 free throws combined in the last 12 seconds to seal the win as UNC Wilmington scored just once in the final minute.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Dwayne Brown Jr. and Koby McEwen combined to score 44 points as Utah State romped past Life Pacific, posting 96-62 victory over the NAIA school from San Dimas, California on Saturday night. It was the first meeting between the schools. Utah State has never lost to a non-Division I opponent and now is 25-0 against NAIA schools. The Warriors were able to hang with Utah State in the first half, trailing by five at intermission, 40-35, but the Aggies roared out of the break to outscore Life Pacific by 29 points over the final 20 minutes. Brown hit 11 of 15 shots from the field and scored 24 points to lead the Aggies (6-6). McEwen made 7 of 11 from the field and knocked down 5 of 9 from behind the arc to post 20 points.

Alkins scored a career-high 26 points lead No. 23 Arizona to an 89-73 win over New Mexico on Saturday night. The Wildcats (8-3) hit a season-best 9 of 13 3-point attempts with Alkins making all three of his attempts. Alkins missed about 11 weeks before getting back on the court and it didn't take to long for him to get into a rhythm as he started and hit his first shot, a baseline 3-pointer.

Riley scored 22 points — 14 from the free throw line — and Evansville needed overtime to beat Austin Peay 78-74 on Saturday. Blake Simmons scored 18 points for the Purple Aces and his 3-pointer to start the extra session put Evansville (9-2) ahead for good. Evansville entered the game 8-2 for the third time in four years. Austin Peay's Averyl Ugba made a 3-pointer with three seconds left to force the extra session. Terry Taylor made a jumper to put Austin Peay up 61-60 with 1:48 left. Riley made a pair of free throws with 50 seconds left, and two more with 12 seconds to go, before Ugba's tying shot. Simmons made a layup with 9:40 to go and gave Evansville a 55-46 lead before Austin Peay (4-6) used a 15-5 run and took the lead on Taylor's jumper. Taylor scored 10 points during the run.
