Series conceded 2-0 Sri Lanka will have pride to play for in the third and final ODI against India in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday (January 15). While there are no Super League points at stake in this inconsequential clash Sri Lanka do have a one final shot at automatic qualification for the 2023 World Cup later in India when they take on New Zealand at home and a win before that would do their confidence a world of good. On the other hand the World Cup hosts have a packed multi-format home season ahead with at least 12 more ODIs and an Asia Cup to go after this and the players' workload would be on the management's mind. "We haven't thought about it yet once we get there we'll have a look at the pitch and have a look at some of our guys" captain Rohit Sharma said at the Eden Gardens on the expected changes for the final game of the series. "There are three ODIs coming up against New Zealand as well so we need to keep the guys fresh. We've got a long season now and we need to keep everything in mind. If needed we'll make some changes" he added. If not in the batting-order - where the team management has backed Shubman Gill and a recently-demoted vice-captain KL Rahul despite the red-hot form of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav in white-ball cricket - India could ring in some changes in the bowling department to manage the bowlers' workload. The only left-arm pacer in the squad Arshdeep Singh could get a look in as India seek to test their bench strength in the lead up to their World Cup preparations. The focus would once again be on Kuldeep Yadav who bowled superbly in Kolkata but may find himself sidelined once again after yet another Player of the Match performance - like in Bangladesh in the recently-concluded Test series - should India's first-choice wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal recover fully. After a complete performance in Guwahati and a hard-fought win in Kolkata India have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Ahead of taking on a stiffer opposition in New Zealand just next week the hosts wouldn't want to let their guard down even in the dead rubber. India have been clinical with both bat and ball so far. However the biggest positive for India has been their bowling unit. So moving on to this clash the Men in Blue are high on confidence to accomplish a whitewash over the visitors. On the other hand Sri Lanka have been patchy with both bat and ball which has led to their debacle in the series. Team News India: Injury kept Chahal out of the second ODI in Kolkata and it's unclear yet if he has recovered sufficiently to return to the XI. At the end of the game Rohit mentioned the need to manage players workload and that could translate into a chance for some of them on the bench. Team News Sri Lanka: The visitors too have injury concerns in their camp and are fretting over the fitness of Dilshan Madushanka (shoulder injury) and Pathum Nissanka (stiff back). What to expect: A bit of clouds but no interruption is expected for the game day. The dew should make chasing the preferred choice of captains. Pacers do get assistance at the venue but the batters will also enjoy the shorter boundaries here. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Live Scores This Match Will be Played at Eden Gardens Kolkata on 12th January 2023 This Match Will Start at 1.30pm From Indian Standard time. Despite failing to gain control over the seam movements they have managed to bag wickets at crucial junctures. For India they would be hoping that the best friend duo of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya steer them to victory. But the road isn't safe as the ball is still moving especially when Kasun Rajitha is the architect. A target of 216 on a superb batting wicket for India. They should chase it down with ease but in cricket anything can happen. There is some assistance for the spinners and Sri Lanka have the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga and Dunith Wellalage to make use of it. Early wickets will be the key for them. Let's see if they present any fight. Mohammed Siraj (5.4-0-30-3) says that the wicket did not have much pace at the start and he was trying to bowl stump-to-stump as there was no swing. Mentions that he was just trying to keep the pressure on. Tells that he was talking to KL Rahul and he said that there was not much swing after the first over and that's why Siraj attempted to bowl with a scrambled seam. Feels that it is a batting wicket and Kuldeep bowled an extraordinary spell. States that the Indian batters just need to keep it simple to chase this total down. The only change that India made for this game was replacing the unfit Yuzvendra Chahal with Kuldeep Yadav and he grabbed the chance with open arms. He bowled with a lot of control and skills and his execution of plans was brilliant. The other bowlers also rallied around him and the likes of Umran Malik and Mohammed Siraj were again among the wickets. The start from Sri Lanka was decent as they batted out Powerplay 1 by losing only one wicket and managed to put 51 runs on the board. Debutant Nuwanidu Fernando and Kusal Mendis formed a partnership and the former impressed everyone with his calm and composed knock. At the first Drinks break the visitors looked in control and would have been dreaming of a score in excess of 300 but Kuldeep Yadav came out of syllabus for them. The magical wrist spinner created havoc and ran through the middle order in a jiffy. From 102 for 1 Sri Lanka collapsed to 126 for 6. The lower order contributed a few handy runs taking the score above 200 but failed to last the distance. A dominant bowling show from India on a batting-friendly surface. They will be immensely pleased with their efforts on the field - bundling out the opposition for a paltry score inside 40 overs. The crowd has loved the entire action thus far and is roaring as the Men in Blue walk off the field. Sri Lanka have been bundled out for 215 on a good batting deck after opting to bat. Avishka Fernando struck three successive fours off Siraj but the latter had the last laugh by providing the early breakthrough for the hosts. Debutant Nuwanidu Fernando took 11 balls to get off the mark but he along with Kusal Mendis scored at a brisk rate stitched a half-century partnership and were unperturbed by pace. Rohit Sharma introduced spin only in the 17th over and both the left-arm spinners struck in their respective first over as Mendis and DDS perished playing for spin when there was none. The set Nuwanidu was run-out and Sri Lanka imploded as they slipped from 102/1 to 126/6 with Kuldeep starring with three wickets. Sri Lanka's lower order showed some fight with three 25+ stands. Heading into this India lead the three-match series 1-0. It was Virat Kohli's show at Barsapara Cricket Stadium which pipped the visitors despite Dasun Shanaka's inspirational fight back. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill laid the platform with classy half-centuries and Virat Kohli continued the onslaught with his 45th ODI hundred as India posted 373/7 in their allotted 50 overs. The only part of talking was that the middle order consisting of Shreyas Iyer KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya didn't make the runs galore. Instead they scored quick cameos which was then the need of the hour. The Men in Blue would love the top order to continue their good run of form in the second ODI alongside the middle and lower order as they will look to seal the series with a game in hand. During the toss the topic of bowling under dew was raised and Rohit said that they were upto it. And so the bowlers showed their class with Mohammed Siraj starting the Lankan collapse with the new ball. Umran Malik followed suit to dismantle the opposition with his raw pace. However they couldn't get past the Lankan skipper but the massive total was more than enough to restrict them to 306/8 in their allotted 50 overs winning the first match by 67 runs. On the other hand Sri Lanka have more things to ponder about. Their bowlers let them down after opting to bowl first on a solid batting track. More so the fielders didn't show support to their hard-working bowlers and you cannot give two chances to a player of the caliber of Virat Kohli which they did and the former Indian skipper made them pay with a brutal knock. The Island Nation were behind the eight-ball right from the get-go chasing 374 to win. While Pathum Nissanka held one end up with a fighting half-century wickets fell regularly at the other end. Once Nissanka got out it was thought that the visitors would fold out quickly but Dasun Shanaka had other ideas as he continued his rich vein of form from the T20Is amassing his career-best score. As of now Team India shouldn't make any changes to their winning combination. But Sri Lanka might make a change or two depending on the fitness of Dilshan Madushanka who landed awkwardly on his right shoulder in the previous match and walked off the field bowling only six overs. It will be another batting paradise awaiting us in Kolkata and we expect another high-scoring thriller. It was here in 2014 that Rohit Sharma scored his career-best 264 and that too against the same opposition. So the memories will be there for both sides and it will be interesting to see who comes on top. India Team News: There was much debate about putting Ishan Kishan on the bench based on his recent form but Shubman Gill added to the dilemma as he scored a 60-ball 70 in the series opener. With the ball Umran Malik repaid the faith put in him with wickets in the middle-overs. India should retain the same XI that earned them the series lead. Sri Lanka Team News: Dilshan Madushanka dismissed Rohit but had a middling debut otherwise finishing with figures of 1 for 43. Lahiru Kumara in his place could be an experienced option. Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage was ineffective too and could make way for Maheesh Theekshana. What to expect: More runs and more dew at a venue that's been kinder to batters. A sunny day and a hazy evening with temperatures in the early 20s is on the cards. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st ODI Live Scores This Match Will be Played at National Stadium Karachi on 9th January 2023 This Match Will Start at 3.00pm From Indian Standard time. PAK vs NZ 1st ODI Live Commentary By Sports Updates by Chandan. Follow us on Social Media. If we talk about their form the Kiwis have lost three of their last five completed ODIs. Kane Williamson will be seen leading the team again in this format. All-rounder Henry Shipley has earned his maiden national call-up. Blair Tickner has come in as the replacement for injured Adam Milne. Matt Henry has also been ruled of the series with an injury. Pakistan: Pakistan is going to play ODI cricket after five long months. The last time they played the Netherlands and hence this was going to be a tough challenge for the home team. Notably in their last five ODI matches Pakistan has won all. Babar Azam will be leading the team and Shan Masood will be seen as his deputy. Haris Rauf who was not a part of the Test team is available for selection. However the absence of Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi will be something Pakistan will have to deal with. So the Tests are over and it is time to move on to white-ball cricket in New Zealand's tour of Pakistan. The two teams will now be facing each other in a three-match ODI series. The first of these matches will be taking place on Monday 9th January 2022 from 3:00 PM IST. The match is scheduled to take place at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. World Cup 2023 qualification: This series is a part of the 2020-2023 World Cup Super League cycle. Ten points are up for grabs for a win in each match. However both teams have qualified for the 2023 World Cup and the result of the series does not bear much significance. Both the teams will look to get off to a good start in the series and hence we are all set for a cracker of a contest. Pakistan Team news: Shan Masood and Haris Sohail have earned ODI recalls while the Shahid Afridi-led selection panel also included uncapped batters Tayyab Tahir and Kamran Ghulam and wrist spinner Usama Mir in the 16-member squad. New Zealand Team news: Matt Henry has been ruled out of the ODI series against Pakistan and India with an abdominal strain. Jacob Duffy could be a contender to replace him should New Zealand seek a replacement. Earlier this month Adam Milne had also pulled out of the ODIs citing lack of preparation and was replaced by Blair Tickner. Meanwhile uncapped all-rounder Henry Shipley is likely to make his debut. What to expect: The last ODI games to be played in Karachi were Pakistan's matches against Sri Lanka in September-October 2019. Pakistan had defended 305 in one of the matches and chased down a target of 298. There were several 300-plus totals scored during the Pakistan Cup - the domestic List A competition - held recently with 350 being crossed four times and the highest being 387. Batters can expect conditions favouring them in the upcoming series as well. A pleasant weather with a high of 27 degree Celsius is forecast. India vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20 Live This Match Will be Played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium Pune on 5th January 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.00pm From Indian Standard time. The first match saw a cracking contest between the two teams with the hosts pipping their counterparts by two runs. Chasing 163 Sri Lanka could post 160 despite valiant efforts from skipper Dasun Shanaka and quick-fire cameos from Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne. So moving on to this clash the visitors would like their mainstays Pathum Nissanka Dhananjaya de Silva Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa to step up with the bat. Meanwhile although their spinners did a fabulous job the pace battery must evolve its performance in not only the powerplay but also the death overs. On the other hand India were saved by Umran Malik and debutant Shivam Mavi on a day that could have ended on a worse note for them. The likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel went for plenty while Harshal Patel conceded more than ten runs an over in his four-over spell. On the batting front Ishan Kishan and Deepak Hooda ensured a fighting total for the Men in Blue while the big names Shubman Gill Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya failed to live up to the expectations. So these players would be raring to make their presence felt in this match. Considering the contest between the teams in the first game we reckon it will be another cracking game on Thursday. However India are high on confidence which is why we expect them to emerge victorious in this clash. But can the Lankans restore parity? What to expect: Moderate temperatures are expected. The last T20I encounter at this venue also featured these two sides in a game where India made over 200 and won by a huge margin. India Team News: Arshdeep Singh was unavailable for the first game having not recovered in time for illness. With a short turnaround and an ODI series coming up India might be tempted to not rush him in. Sanju Samson is a doubtful starter for this game and that might open the doors for Rahul Tripathi. Sri Lanka Team News: Kasun Rajitha was taken for runs in Mumbai but he did fare well in Pune way back in 2016 in a T20I to help Sri Lanka win. Will that help him retain his spot? Avishka Fernando may have to wait. Pitch Report IND vs SL 2nd T20 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium: Black soil makes up the pitches at MCA Stadium which should help spin bowling. The MCA Stadium’s surfaces are renowned for being initially favorable to batting but also support good spin bowling. The chasing team has an advantage in Pune based on past international and IPL games. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. The first T20I will be hosted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India will be playing a T20 series after 5 weeks and Sri Lanka is going to play their first T20 series after the T20 World Cup. India have lined up a squad full of youth and jampacked top-order batters. On the other hand Sri Lanka have an amalgam of young guns and senior pros. We shall see who edges past in the first match of the series. Team News (Sri Lanka): The Sri Lankan team will be led by Dasun Shanaka with Kusal Mendis as his deputy. Sri Lanka last played a T20 game in the World Cup 2022. Nuwan Thushara (T20Is) and Sadeera Samarawickrama have came into the squad. Samarawickrama and Avishka Fernando have performed extremely well in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL). The batting order is jammed up with renowned names like Pathum Nissanka Charith Asalanka Dhananjaya de Silva etc. On the flip side the bowling will be spearheaded by Lahiru Kumara. Kasun Rajitha should be making the first XI with either of Pramod Madhushan or Dilshan Madhushanka. Team News (India): Indian captain Rohit Sharma sustained a thumb injury in the previous series against Bangladesh and therefore isn't applicable to play in this series. The management also decided to rest Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for the series. Hardik Pandya will be leading the home side in this series with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. Shivam Mavi has earned his maiden India call-up and we might see him make his debut later in the series. Also Mukesh Kumar is a part of the squad who is yet to make his national debut. What to expect in IND vs SL 1st T20: As we have seen over the years the conditions are usually favorable for the chasing side at the Wankhede with the dew coming into the picture. Moderate temperatures are expected during the game. IND vs SL 1st T20I Pitch Report: A high-scoring game is expected at the Wankhede Stadium with the average first-innings total in the last three matches being 189. Bowlers have not found much help especially the spinners who have picked up only four wickets across the last three matches. There could be some help available with the new ball with almost 35 percent of the wickets over the last three T20Is falling in the powerplay phase. Chasing would be the ideal choice upon winning the toss with dew expected to play a part in the second innings. IPL 2022 Teams to Play: Royal Challengers Bangalore - Chennai Super Kings - Mumbai Indians - Kolkata Knight Riders - Sunrisers Hyderabad - Delhi Capitals - Rajasthan Royals - Gujarat Titans - Punjab Kings -Lucknow Super Giants. Chennai Super Kings Purse - INR 20.45 cr | Slots left - 7 | Overseas slots left - 2 - CSK pacers had the second worst economy in death overs in IPL 2022 with an ER of 11.46; Mukesh Choudhary went at 13.69 while Pretorius conceded at 12.70. Since 2018 Deepak Chahar has bowled only 10.3% of his overs in this phase. Delhi Capitals Purse - INR 19.45 cr | Slots left - 5 | Overseas slots left - 2 - An established backup opener will be in the shopping list for DC given how they struggled last season when either David Warner or Prithvi Shaw was absent. Gujarat Titans Purse - INR 19.25 cr | Slots left - 7 | Overseas slots left - 3 - With Jason Roy released and Rahmanullah Gurbaz traded Titans need an overseas backup opening option. - The defending champions would also look at an ideal No.3 after their options struggled to cement their spot. Kolkata Knight Riders Purse - INR 7.05 cr | Slots left - 11 | Overseas slots left - 3 - Having spent heavily on Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson KKR have the least amount of money to spend. Mumbai Indians Purse - INR 20.55 cr | Slots left - 9 | Overseas slots left - 3 - A big issue for MI in their last two editions were their domestic seamers behind Bumrah. In five seasons since 2018 outside of Bumrah and Hardik Pandya the domestic Indian seamers have managed an aggregate of mere 59 overs between them and no bowler has picked more than six wickets. Punjab Kings Purse - INR 32.30 cr | Slots left - 9 | Overseas slots left - 3 - Shahrukh Khan has had two middling seasons with PBKS and they would need some backup in this department should he not turn it around. Rajasthan Royals Purse - INR 13.20 cr | Slots left - 9 | Overseas slots left - 4 - Royals rode on the back of the quality of Buttler and Chahal to overcome their depth issues in both departments in the run to the finals. None of their top five batters could bowl and of their five bowlers only Ashwin had any pedigree with the bat often resulting in him promoted up the order to extend their batting lineup. Royal Challengers Bangalore Purse - INR 8.75 cr | Slots left - 7 | Overseas slots left - 2 - RCB's requirements would be to fill in the backup options. A backup left-arm batter and a left-arm seamer could be in their radar. Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the first day's play of the Second and final Test match in this 2-Test series featuring the hosts Bangladesh against the visitors India from the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Dhaka. It was India who drew first blood in an enthralling encounter at Chattogram as they beat the hosts by 188 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series. Opting to bat first India posted 404 on the back of crucial contributions from Cheteshwar Pujara (90) Shreyas Iyer (86) Ravichandran Ashwin (58) and Kuldeep Yadav (40). Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam picked up 4 wickets apiece. Bangladesh in reply were blown away for 150 with Kuldeep Yadav picking up 5 wickets and Mohammad Siraj picking up 3 wickets. This is where Bangladesh lost the plot as they ended up conceding a massive 254-run lead to India. On Thursday hosts Bangladesh will take on India in the final Test of the two-match series in Dhaka. This is a must-win game for Bangladesh as a loss will hand them a series defeat. India suffered a massive blow with Rohit Sharma being ruled out of the Test due to thumb injury. However the likes of Shubman Gill Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli are pretty much capable of guiding the visitors with their stoic batsmanship. Their bowling was clinical in the first Test as the spinners especially Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel wreaked havoc in the Tigers' camp dismissing them twice in the game. Ravichandran Ashwin's failure with the ball was surprising so he would like to get some wickets under his belt in this game. On the other hand although Bangladesh batters put up some fight in the second innings it was their horrendous outing in the first innings that handed them the crushing defeat. Also they were less penetrative with the ball as compared to their opponents. The pacers Ebadot and Khaled must chip in with some breakthroughs something which they failed to execute in Chattogram. Additionally veteran batters Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das should convert their starts into big ones as scoring in mere 30s and 40s doesn't at all help in the longest format. Considering the strengths of both teams we reckon India will start as the firm favourites to win the face-off. But can the Tigers force an upset? What to expect: The pitch at Chattogram was slow and low all through the track in Dhaka is expected to have a little more bounce and probably more assistance for the seamers as compared to the previous one. Teams News India: They'll have little to worry about despite KL Rahul copping a blow in the nets ahead of the match. They are likely to go ahead with an unchanged eleven. Teams News Bangladesh: Litton Das was seen doing keeping in the practice session and that could put pressure on the out-of-form Nurul Hasan. Former skipper Mominul Haque is all set to return. Yasir Ali's performance in the opening game makes his place doubtful for second Test. If he is excluded then Mahmudul Hasan wold come in which also suggests that Nazmul Hossain will return to No. 3 with Mominul at four.
