#AlperenSengun #HoustonRockets #NBA The Houston Rockets found a total steal of a big man as they have acquired 6’10 Turkish big man Alperen Sengun with the 16th pick of the 2021 NBA draft after the Rockets gave up two protected future first round picks for him. And after participating in the Summer League for the Houston Rockets together with other rookies like Jalen Green, Usman Garuba, and Josh Christopher, fans have witnessed why Sengun would have qualified as a lottery pick. In 4 summer league games, Sengun averaged 14.5 points, 11 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 3 blocks per game, while also shooting a solid 38 percent from deep, as he played against the Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Orlando Magic. Even as an 18-year old playing in Turkey, Sengun was the MVP of the Turkish BSL while playing for Besiktas as he averaged 18.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks, while putting up a decade-high PER. This earned Sengun recognition as one of the most highly ranked international big man prospects coming into the draft while earning some Nikola Jokic, Domantas Sabonis, or Marc Gasol comparisons. Alperen Sengun’s skillset has wowed NBA scouts because of his crafty footwork, natural playmaking ability, and solid offensive package. And although a lot of NBA mock drafts and big boards had Sengun pretty low, he’s starting to show how good he can become. But can Rockets’ coach Stephen Silas utilize him alongside big men like Christian Wood and Daniel Theis. Is Sengun really the next big international NBA superstar? #AtlantaHawks #JalenJohnson #TraeYoung #NBA 6’9 Duke forward Jalen Johnson has been drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 20th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. They’ve also landed 6’1 point guard Sharife Cooper with the 48th overall pick. Both guys could be considered draft steals by Hawks GM Travis Schlenk most especially Johnson, as the Duke forward was widely considered to be a lottery pick in a lot of NBA mock drafts. While at Duke, Jalen Johnson only played 13 games but averaged a solid statline of 11.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from deep. Johnson is considered to be one of the most versatile forwards in the draft because of his natural playmaking ability that goes with his 6’9 frame and 7’0 wingspan. And in the NBA Summer League, Sharife Cooper drained the game-winning three-pointer vs. the Pacers but Johnson put up solid numbers throughout the Hawks first two summer league games, putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds in a loss against Boston and 18 points and 10 rebounds in a win against Indiana. Johnson will be another wing who will join a loaded Atlanta Hawks rotation which features guys like 6’7 Kevin Huerter and 6’8 wings Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter. Hawks rising star Trae Young made his first playoff appearance last season and took the team all the way to the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals with the help of veterans Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, Clint Capela, and Lou Williams. Trae Young just signed a 5-year 207 Million max extension. But moving forward, Trae Young will need to count on guys like John Collins, Onyeka Okongwu, Hunter, Reddish, and Huerter to lead the Hawks. But is Jalen Johnson the perfect wing next to Trae Young? #2021NBAdraft #CadeCunningham #EvanMobley #JalenSuggs #JalenGreen The 2021 NBA Draft is fast approaching and a lot of NBA mock drafts and scouting reports have been put out already., most of which have named Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Jalen Green and Jalen Suggs as the consensus top 4 picks. The 6’8 Oklahoma State product Cade Cunningham is an oversized point guard who has been widely compared to Luka Doncic, with his playmaking and scoring ability. USC 7-foot big man Evan Mobley has been seen as the perfect rim-running center in today’s NBA. Jalen Green of the GLeague Ignite is a 6’5 guard who just might be the best athlete and most explosive scorer in this year’s draft class. And Gonzaga 6’4 combo guard Jalen Suggs, who has been seen as a physical and mature player, also has been strengthening his case as the number one overall pick with his buzzer-beater against UCLA and national championship game appearance. But who among Cunningham, Mobley, Green, and Suggs will go number one? Who will lottery teams like the Houston Rockets, the OKC Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, or Minnesota Timberwolves target in the 2021 NBA draft? #UtahJazz #DonovanMitchell #NBA The Utah Jazz has just ended their 11-game win streak but they are looking like a contending team. Donovan Mitchell is looking like the real deal after Shaq called him out on national television. And after the Jazz signed Rudy Gobert to a 5-year $205M extension, Utah is looking to go further into the playoffs and into NBA championship contention. After blowing a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets during last last playoffs, they have defeated good teams so far. The Jazz have taken a new identity as Mike Conley, Joe Ingles, and Royce O’Neale are all shooting above 40 percent from three-point range. While Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson, and Bojan Bogdanovic are not so far behind. Jordan Clarkson is also looking like the prime candidate to win the 6th man of the year award so far. But how far can Coach Quin Snyder take this team? Are the Utah Jazz actually legitimate threats to the Lakers, as well as the Clippers, or the Nuggets for dominance in the Western conference?
