October 21, 2019 Teddy Bridgewater threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, and the New Orleans Saints improved to 5-0 without injured starter Drew Brees with a 36-25 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Bridgewater completed 23 of 38 passes, Michael Thomas had nine receptions for 131 yards, and Latavius Murray ran for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Drew Brees said he plans to return to practice this week and hopes to be able to play as early as next Sunday's Week 8 home date with the Arizona Cardinals. In only seven games, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow broke two LSU single-season touchdown records, as the Tigers defeated Mississippi State, 36-13. LSU led 9-7 after Mississippi State scored a touchdown with 5:24 to play in the first half. However, Burrow connected with Racey McMath for a 60-yard touchdown strike on the next play from scrimmage, as LSU scored the game's final 27 points. Up next for the Tigers is Auburn in Death Valley next Saturday at 2:30 pm. SEC Nation, the SEC Networks pregame show on Saturday mornings, will broadcast live from LSU's campus for the Auburn game this upcoming weekend. They will set up at Nicholson Gateway Park on campus, the network announced. LSU remains at No. 3 in the Coaches Poll and remains No. 2 in the AP Poll. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left Saturday's game vs. Tennessee after suffering a high ankle sprain and could miss time to recover, according to Nick Saban. Tagovailoa had a “successful” tightrope ankle procedure Sunday morning, which is the same procedure both he and Jalen Hurts had last season. The Astros won 6-4, clenching the pennant in six games. The World Series starts Tuesday night as the Nationals take on the Astros in Houston.
Annie Apple stopped by Off the Bench in hour two, and she started by talking about visiting New Orleans to bring her son Eli some home-cooked meals before the Dallas Cowboys game. “I had my first snowball two nights ago, “so I’m gaining weight, but sweating it off.” Apple helped break down the elite defensive match-up last Sunday as well. “That game was one of the most beautiful defensive games ever,” Apple said. “I was so proud of how our guys stayed the course. There’s unity; you can’t fake that.” Additionally, Apple talked about the negative comments she gets on Twitter regarding her son. “You have to have a strong sense of who you are,” Apple said, “and you can’t go through life trying to get people’s acceptance. Unfortunately, (the talk) comes with the territory.” Eli’s favorite part of a meal is a New Orleans staple, Apple said. “Eli loves rice,” Apple said. “So I make seafood, curry chicken, but whatever I make, it has to be accompanied by rice.” Apple also highlighted the importance of parents’ presence at their children’s games, whether or not they see the field. “You have to show up in the redshirt year,” Apple said. “You have to show up when they’re not playing.” Eli’s college recruitment was full of interesting moments and important decisions, Apple said. “There was no space in the room (during our visit with Notre Dame),” Apple said, “because Brian Kelley’s ego took up the whole room.” Apple also reviewed her lastest initiative to benefit survivors of abusive relationships in the Heal Her Network.
LSU IS BACK! It isn't about LSU winning against Georgia Southern, it is about the spread we have seen out of this LSU team. It is obvious that we are back in business and going to dominate this season.
Zion Williams is staying with The Pelicans and Dave Griffin will use it as leverage to bring Davis back into the fold.
