Chelsea 2-0 Fulham REVIEW | Kai Havertz SCORES twice to DESTROY Fulham | TOP 4 on track BBC Sport (Match Report): Kai Havertz scored twice to boost Chelsea's grip on a Champions League place and send Fulham closer to Premier League relegation. Havertz, one of five changes in between the Blues' Champions League semi-final legs against Real Madrid, latched on to Mason Mount's through ball to give them an early lead. He doubled their advantage when he finished after a one-two with Timo Werner. In between those efforts he also had a goal correctly ruled out for offside. Fulham had plenty of chances in the first half with Antonee Robinson and Ola Aina forcing good saves from Edouard Mendy. But they created nothing of note after the break and now sit nine points off safety with four games to go. Chelsea, who just need a goalless home draw against Real on Wednesday to reach the Champions League final, have a six-point cushion over West Ham in the top four. Porto vs Chelsea Champions League PREVIEW | Chelsea needs a REACTION after West Brom heavy defeat The Stats Zone (Report): Both these sides shone for different reasons in the Champions League round of 16. FC Porto stunned Juventus, after knocking out the Italian champions after extra time despite being reduced to ten men. Chelsea meanwhile, secured a second successive win to nil over Atletico Madrid, although the Premier League side come into this match off the back of their 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions having being ended this past Saturday by lowly West Brom. Despite their shock 2-5 defeat at the weekend in a match which saw them reduced to ten men in the first half, the Blues have been in outstanding form under head coach Thomas Tuchel and will be confident of capitalising on facing a Porto side without midfielder Sergio Oliveira, who scored twice in their second leg clash against Juventus and striker Mehdi Taremi, who was sent off in the same match for a second bookable offense. The absence of Oliveira in particular is a crucial one from a Porto perspective and Chelsea will look to dictate the play in this game as they did so effectively against Atletico. Ultimately the quality and strength in depth of Chelsea may see them edge this one and they are to be favoured. Jose Mourinho could only watch on in the driving rain at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as his former club bossed lackluster Spurs, who slipped to a third consecutive defeat. Jorginho's first-half penalty made it seven points from three matches without conceding a goal for Chelsea under Tuchel, lifting them into sixth place. Toothless Tottenham was outclassed and fortunate not to suffer a more emphatic loss as they slipped down to eighth following another lackluster performance. Timo Werner almost got Chelsea off to a dream start when he nodded a long ball from Cesar Azpilicueta just wide in the first minute. The Blues knocked the ball about with a swagger and deservedly took the lead 24 minutes in, Jorginho finding the bottom-right corner of Hugo Lloris' net from the spot after Eric Dier had tripped the lively Werner. Andreas Christensen replaced the injured Thiago Silva as Tuchel's side continued to dominate, although Serge Aurier wasted a chance to equalize late in the first half when he headed Son Heung-min's free-kick wide. Spurs showed more urgency after the break, pressing Chelsea higher up the pitch, albeit Callum Hudson-Odoi could have doubled the lead when he drilled wide of the far post. Aurier produced a brilliant last-ditch tackle to prevent Werner from ending his Premier League goal drought as the Germany striker was about to pull the trigger after being set up by Mason Mount. Lloris bravely punched away a dangerous cross with Christian Pulisic waiting to pounce and Mateo Kovacic poked a shot wide with Chelsea firmly in command. The excellent Mount was denied by a fine reflex save by Lloris as Spurs were opened up all too easily again before Edouard Mendy was finally called into action, palming away Erik Lamela's shot with just over 10 minutes to go. It was so fitting to have Azpilicueta start the scoring in this new era and even more poetic justice that Alonso provided the 2nd goal to seal the victory. Alonso has been shutout by Frank for nearly 3 months and he comes back with the winning goal. Brilliant performance from CHO and Mason Mount who showed immense energy throughout the match. Overall this was a very good match from Chelsea and a much deserved 3 points. The race for top 4 is on!! Chelsea News: We have seen in the early parts of the season Frank persevering with the 4-2-3-1. However, we have quickly seen the deficiencies of this formation with the personnel we have. Constantly our midfield was getting outnumbered with this formation. Now we have finally switched over to 4-3-3 and against Krasnodar (30 mins of 2nd half) and Burnley we have looked supreme in defence and offence.
