Bournemouth 1-2 Chelsea REVIEW: Armando Broja & Ugbo SCORES | Callum Hudson-Odoi IMPRESSIVE | Pre-Season Match Yardbarker (Match Report): Chelsea kicked off their pre-season proper with a fiercely competitive 2-1 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Blues made the trip to face their infamous Premier League bogey side, now under the stewardship of one Scott Parker - who needs no introduction to Chelsea fans. Despite yielding no goals, the first half was a tight affair played with great spirit and intensity. Tammy Abraham went close thrice with the best chances for either side. Thomas Tuchel rung the changes at half-time, introducing seven new faces for the second half and only retaining Callum Hudson-Odoi, Marcos Alonso, Conor Gallagher and Abraham. The Cherries took the lead in the 66th minute, with Emiliano Marcondes stealing a march in the middle to bundle home - but the Pensioners had completed a quickfire double just ten minutes later, with Armando Broja and Ike Ugbo finishing off sumptuous deliveries from Baba Rahman and Ross Barkley. Plenty of food for thought for trainer Thomas Tuchel, and it'll be something to chew on quickly given next up for the Blues is a saunter across London to take on bitter rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. Chelsea jumped in and out of the Champions League places over a topsy-turvy 90 minutes at Villa Park, despite being haunted by their former player Bertrand Traore on Sunday. Chelsea dominated the early stages as they camped in Villa's defensive third, but the hosts eventually took the sting out and went ahead through former Chelsea man Bertrand Traore's near-post effort from a low, well-worked corner (43). With Leicester and Liverpool also winning at the time, Chelsea was already fifth by the time Anwar El Ghazi converted a penalty to make it 2-0 after Traore had been tripped by Jorginho (52). Ben Chilwell clawed one back for Chelsea with a far-post finish (70), but Spurs equalized at Leicester to move the Blues back into fourth, and then took the lead to cement their spot, eventually winning 4-2. Cesar Azpilicueta was dismissed late on for striking Jack Grealish in the face, but the final placing is another mark of progress for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel. Villa, finishing 11th, has ended a fine season with back-to-back wins over so-called 'big six' sides. Chelsea 2-1 Leicester REVIEW | Rudiger & Jorginho SCORES to lift Chelsea to 3rd in the Premier League | BIG WIN BBC Sport (Match Report) Chelsea beat Leicester City to boost their Champions League hopes - and leave the Foxes in danger of missing out. Just three days after Leicester beat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final, Chelsea got some measure of revenge to win thanks to Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho goals in front of 8,000 fans. Kelechi Iheanacho gave the Foxes hope but they did not create enough chances to deserve anything out of the game. Chelsea's win takes them up to third place in the table, while Liverpool could knock Leicester down to fifth place if they win at Burnley on Wednesday. There was no doubt Thomas Tuchel's side deserved their victory as Rudiger bundled home from close range from a corner. Jorginho put the game beyond doubt with a penalty after Wesley Fofana clipped Timo Werner. They had been unlucky not to be ahead at the break as Werner had a penalty appeal controversially turned down and two goals disallowed. Iheanacho's goal after good pressure from Wilfred Ndidi was not enough for Leicester, who now need to score at least three goals against Tottenham Hotspur on the final day or hope for Liverpool to drop points. There was a late melee, with most of the players and the benches involved too - with Leicester's Ricardo Pereira and unused substitute Daniel Amartey booked. Werner & Mount SCORES BBC Sports (Match Report): Chelsea will face Manchester City in the Champions League final in Istanbul after convincingly overcoming a fading Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge. On a night of high tension, even behind closed doors, Chelsea fully deserved a victory that sets up an all-English final against Pep Guardiola's Premier League leaders on 29 May. Thomas Tuchel's hosts were grateful to goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for two fine first-half saves from Karim Benzema but they were able to build on the 1-1 draw they achieved in Madrid when Timo Werner headed in from almost on the goal-line in the 28th minute after Kai Havertz had lofted a finish on to the bar. It set the platform for a second half of total Chelsea domination that was nevertheless laced with anxiety as the hosts missed chance after chance to put the game to bed. Real's former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved from N'golo Kante and Havertz, who also headed against the bar, while Mason Mount shot wildly over the top when clean through. It was Mount, though, who finally sealed Chelsea's place in their first Champions League final since they won the competition in 2012. The outstanding Kante, who was also instrumental in the opening goal, fed substitute Christian Pulisic and his cross was turned in by Mount with five minutes left. The result adds another chapter to the remarkable transformation under Tuchel since he succeeded the sacked Frank Lampard in January - and gives him the chance to make amends for the 2020 Champions League final, when his Paris St-Germain side lost to Bayern Munich.
