We match up their top championship teams against one another, and one thing was a stand-out -- DEFENSE -- particulary the Bulls defense. Bulls were active in the passing lanes but Lakers two 7 footers were also forcing blocks. Jordan had 15 pts in the quarter, while Kobe struggled with the Bulls defense shooting 2/7 from the field. Bynum however was effective in the paint and had 10 pts 6 rebs 21-19 after first quarter. In the secodn quarter the Bulls held the Lakers to 12 pts en route to a double digit advantage going into the half. Pippen had some success in the post and the triangle, scoring 18 pts while Jordan was resting in the bench. Bulls go up by douible digits, 45-31 at the half. In the third quarter, the Lakers continued their dry spell offensivel. THey trailed by as much as 22 in the period. Gasol was not showing any energy on offense while Kobe continued to struggle. The Bulls lead the LAkers by 21 heading into the 4th quarter. It was the same story in the 4th quarter as the Bulls continue to suffocate the Lakers on defense. Jordan had 14 in the 4th. Kobe was having moderate success here with 13 pts in the 4th but it was all for naught. THe Bulls led by as much as 30 and ended up winning by 20, 91-71. Jordan and Pippen combined for 78 pts, scoring 42 &36 respectively, handily winning their matchups. Rodman had 20 rebs and 11 assits, another double-double for him. Kobe Bryant finished with 24 pts on 11/35 shooting. Bynum had a double-double with 18 pts and 19 rebs. Odom added 15. Pau Gasol was largely MIA, 0 pts, 12 rebs.

CHICAGO -- THe best 2-way players of their generation colide in this matchup between the 2019 Raptors and the 1996 Bulls. The Raptors got off to a fast start, starting 7-0 prompting an early timeout from the Bulls. The Bulls continued to striggle on offense and Mark Gasol came off the bench provided extra lift for Toronto, giving them as much as a 12-pt lead in the period. He would score 12 pts off the bench, including 2 3-pointers and the Raptors are off to a good start with a 27-19 advantage after one. The 2nd quarter was all about Scottie Pippen. He put on a postup masterclass. Initially finding himslef guarded by the smaller Lowry, he got himself in rhythm and once he was on, no matter if it was Kawhi or Siakam in front of him, he was scoring on a multitude of moves. He scored 12 in thbe period and had the Bulls retake the lead. The Raptors regained some ground behind some strong play from Van Vleet and the Raptors hold on to a 2-pt lead going into the half 44-42. The 3rd quarter was hard fought as both sides stayed solid on both ends. Pippen had another strong quarter here with Jordan seemingly having an off game. Toni Kukoc however provided the extra lift off the bench, scoring 7 pts and dishing out 5 assists in the period, as the Bulls led by as much as 5. Toronto kept their toughness however, with Leonard staying aggressive, scoring 10 and VanVLeet continuing his strong play off the bench. Bulls keep a narrow 2 pt lead heading into the 4th. In the fourth quarter, Michael Jordan broke out of his slump (was 8/17 at that point), came out aggressive and had a huge quarter. He would go on to score 22 pts in the this final quarter, scoring on a variety of moves... dunks, spin moves, and his fadeaway was clicking. The Raptors attack was more balanced, with Siakam leading the way with 10, but also some aggressive play from Lowry and Leonard. THey kept it close despite Jordan's huge quarter. Bulls led by just 1 point with 2 mins to go Jordan would answer the call with a jumper on the other end to put the lead back up by 3. This was followed by back-to-back blocks by Luc Longley on Kawhi Leonard on the next play. Leonard would still bring it down to 1 with a driving dunk with 56 secs to go. Bulls would rely on their defense to keep the lead. Kukoc would make a huge defensive play on an inbound pass in the last few seconds to protect a 1 pt lead and Jordan played excellent defense on Kawhi on their last play. Bulls would make their FT's down the stretch to seal the win. Jordan finished with 38 pts 5 rebs 3 assts 5 stls. Pippen added 34. Kukoc added 12 pts 6 rebs 9 assts. Kerr with 14, 3/5 from 3. Kawhi led 5 Raptors who scored double figures. He finished with 24 pts 4 rebs 4 assts 5 stls. CHICAGO -- The Lob CIty Clippers of CHris Paul, Prime Blake Griffin visit MJ at the UNited Center and look to make a big splash with an upset. The Bulls were playing solid physical defense versus the Clippers in the first quarter, but this led to early foul trouble for MJ and early penalty leading to FT's for the Clippers. In the second quarter, with Rodman sitting down, the Bulls frontcourt appeared thin, and DeAndre Jordan took advantage. He scored on putbacks, mismatches and had 8 in the period. Collison also gave an extra lift, and the CLippers led by as much as 11, 39-28. Rodman, Pippen and MJ regrouped on the floor, with Dennis givinge the extra hustle and muscle inside and go on a 6-0 run before they started turning the ball over again. Clipper hang on to a 7-pt lead at the break. THe third quarter was all about Scottie Pippen. He was aggressive on both ends of the court. He would lead Chicago back in this game, scoring 22 pts with a steal and a block, tying the game with 2Ft's in the last few seconds. A last second 3-pointter from Granger kept the Clippers up by 3 but momentum was starting to go to Chicago's direction. Michael Jordan would carry this momentum in the 4th quarter, scoring 17 pts handing out passes to open teammates, and pushed Bulls ahead by as much as 7 with over 5 mins to go. They looked on the way to winning this thing, but they would start missing open shots and the Clippers claw their way back. It was a tied game with less than 2 mins left. Clippers continued to make Jordan pass the ball and Kukoc and his other teammates would fail to connect on open shots. On the other hand, Chris Paul was making big plays down the stretch on both ends He only had 2 pts to this point but hit 8 big ones down the stretch and found open teammates. Clippers pull of the upset 104-96 Jordan and Pippen combined for 68 pts but no one else inthe team reached double digits. Kukoc was just 3/12 and missed some key open jumpers down the stretch. Blake Griffin led the CLippers with 27 pts. JJ Redick added 20. DeAndre Jordan was actualy awarded PLayer of the Game honors 16 pts 17 rebs 6 blks. But Chris Paul was biggest down the stretch. He had 10 pts, but 16 assists and 5 steals.
