Sports stadiums in the USA vs Europe… Typically, when a stadium gets out of date in the States, they knock it down. While it’s sad to lose the history, owners generally feeling it’s too costly to fix them up. In Europe, the opposite is often true, with clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona instead opting to renovate their iconic grounds. Then, there’s Manchester United. The Premier League side is currently caught in a limbo—Old Trafford hasn’t been updated since 2006, resulting in the venue falling into immense disrepair. After months of speculation, it appears the club is pursuing a $2.6bn plan to rebuild the stadium next door, resulting in a huge debate amongst fans as to the importance of it’s history. What do you think United should do? Renovate Old Trafford, or is it too far gone to save? 🤔🏴 #football #soccer #manchesterunited #stadium #fail #europe #construction #sports #futbol #history #shorts #news #football #ronaldo #premierleague #shorts #england

When Ronaldo scored the fabled ‘volley penalty’ vs PSG in 2019, fans were dumbfounded; with the majority claiming otherworldly forces, or that it was intention. Science offered up a third theory regarding energy transfer, however, none appear to be true. I honestly think these could both be grass bubbles under the penalty spot. Not saying it’s nefarious in any way, as this area of the pitch sees a lot of use, but it’s still unusual enough to point out imo. This is what you happens when you ask a physicist to design a football boot. It’s absolutely genius — Inside the insole is 30 grams of tungsten powder. Adidas claimed this added 5% more power and 8% more swerve on the ball when striking. Sounds far fetched, I know, but this bizarre piece of tech is actually backed by science. Functionally, it works the exact same as a dead blow hammer. This tool is beloved by auto repairmen and carpenters alike because it doesn’t damage the object it’s striking, even when hit with great force. This is because, it’s filled with little bits of metal. When swinging the hammer, these pellet's slide to the back, then, as it makes contact, the pellet’s slam forward, preventing the hammer from bouncing back. This, in turn, results in a higher impact force, as it’s all concentrated in a single hit, rather than several bounces… Turns out, the biomechanics of striking a football are very similar. Foot goes back, so does the tungsten. As a player completes the striking motion, this powder shoots to the front of the boot, providing us with a rare example of sports technology that actually delivered on it’s promises… I guess #football #footballshorts #sports #cool #futbol #soccer #shorts #skills #physics #science #viral
