The Oakland A's are FAR too arrogant
The Oakland A's sure like to talk a lot. When the Mariners roughed up A's starter Cole Irvin for 10 hits in May, Irvin said “A team like that shouldn’t be putting up 10 hits against me or anyone.” Unfortunately for Irvin, the M's chased him from Sunday's game after just 4 innings thanks to a 4 run third inning. A pitcher like that should probably know better. And after Lou Trivino blew the game for Oakland with a walkoff wild pitch on Saturday night, Manager Bob Melvin said "It took an oddity for them to score a run." Which is true. It just sounds salty. This is on brand for Oakland. They think VERY highly of themselves. It's a shame they can't cash those checks. . . . . . The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the most exciting young teams in baseball. They have one of the best lineups in baseball, one that features some incredible young talent like possible AL MVP / Triple Crown Winner Vladimir Guerrero Jr. AND expensive veterans like George Springer and Marcus Semien. The Seattle Mariners - despite a scrappy, impressive start that record wise is on par with Toronto - aren't that. Not yet. They're AT LEAST a year away from having that kind of young talent, and there's no guarantee they'll spend big this offseason [though as you'll hear from GM Jerry Dipoto, he's planning on it].
