NHL PLAYOFFS ROUND 1 TAMPA BAY @ TORONTO GAME 5 FULL GAME LIVE REACTION

#NHL #CSP #LEAFSNATION #GMAE1 #2022PLAYOFFS The Toronto Maple Leafs have a chance to win a first-round playoff series for the first time since 2004 Thursday night when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning for Game 6. Toronto defeated Tampa Bay 4-3 on Tuesday night at home to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series. They have lost in the opening round of the playoffs in their five previous tries, as well as in the 2020 qualifying round. Last season, Toronto even led the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 in a first-round series before falling. Toronto changed the series script Tuesday. In the previous four games, the team that scored first won. This time, Toronto fell behind 2-0 in the first but came back to take a 3-2 lead in the third period when they scored twice with the teams playing 4-on-4. Tampa Bay tied the game, but Toronto took advantage of a turnover in the neutral zone to get the winning goal from Auston Matthews at 13:54. Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe knows finishing off a series is not easy, especially against a team that has won the Stanley Cup the past two years. The Maple Leafs gave credit to veteran center Jason Spezza, who played just under six minutes, for inspiring them after a poor first period. Goaltender Jack Campbell also was a big factor in the victory. He was yanked from Game 4 after allowing five goals but on Tuesday night, he made 32 saves, including a stop on Nicholas Paul's second-period breakaway. The Lightning have been hurt by mistakes. Tampa Bay is not short on confidence as Thursday's game approaches. The Lightning know what is required. #NHL #CSP #LEAFSNATION #GMAE1 #2022PLAYOFFS The team that has scored first has won the first four games of the best-of-seven series that is even at 2-2. If the trend continues, the first goal could be vital Tuesday night when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Toronto Maple Leafs for Game 5 of their first-round playoff series. The formula worked for the Lightning on Sunday night in their 7-3 home victory. Steven Stamkos scored 60 seconds into the first period and Tampa Bay led 3-0 before eight minutes had been played. Toronto had 30 minutes in penalties on Sunday and Tampa Bay had 22. Each team scored one power-play goal. After the Lightning took a 5-0 lead in the second period, Keefe removed goaltender Jack Campbell and replaced him with Erik Kallgren, who did not allow a goal. Both Lightning goals in the third period were into an empty net. Campbell faced 16 shots and Kallgren 10. Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 22 of 25 shots. Toronto captain John Tavares earned an assist Sunday and has only two assists in the series. In Game 3, also at Tampa, the Maple Leafs opened a 3-0 lead in a 5-2 victory. Three of the games have been decided by three goals or more. In the playoffs, the Lightning are 16-0 following a loss dating to the beginning of the 2020 postseason. #NHL #CSP #LEAFSNATION #GMAE1 #2022PLAYOFFS The Tampa Bay Lightning grabbed home-ice advantage in their first-round playoff series, but the Toronto Maple Leafs could have the momentum entering Game 3 at Tampa on Friday night. A 5-3 victory Wednesday night gave the Lightning a split of the opening two games at Toronto in the best-of-seven series. Three of the next five games, as needed, are scheduled to be played in Tampa. The Maple Leafs aren't down and have kept the focus on scoring twice late in the third period on Wednesday as a positive step. Toronto responded with Michael Bunting's goal, but Kucherov scored on the power play soon after with Toronto right winger Wayne Simmonds in the box. Mitchell Marner had a goal and an assist for Toronto and Auston Matthews added two assists. The Lightning staged a comeback of their own on Wednesday after losing a 5-0 embarrassment in Game 1. Led by Victor Hedman's playoff career-best four points (one goal, three assists) and Andrei Vasilevskiy's goaltending, the Lightning showed why they're in the running for a third straight Stanley Cup. After going 0-for-5 on the power play Monday, the Lightning were 3-for-7 with the man advantage on Wednesday. They were 4-for-4 in killing penalties. Nikita Kucherov added a goal and two assists for Tampa Bay. Through two games, Keefe felt that not much separated his team from Tampa Bay, and being sharper and more disciplined would be a major key going forward. Vasilevskiy made 31 saves and his best was with a flash of his glove on Timothy Liljegren at 1:26 of the second period. With Tampa Bay leading 1-0, Liljegren wired a shot to the top corner, but Vasilevskiy plucked the puck from the air. Less than a minute later, at 2:21, Hedman's stretch pass sprung Corey Perry for a breakaway goal, a key moment for the turnaround. San Jose Sharks AT Toronto Maple Leafs 10/22/2021 Full Game Live Reaction

#CSP #NHL #LEAFSNATION The San Jose Sharks will look to close out the Canadian part of their five-game road trip with a win against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are currently 2-1-1 on the season. The last time these two teams played each other was on March 3, 2020, 597 days ago. The Sharks took home a 5-2 victory. It won’t be an easy game for the Sharks, I can assure you that, as they’re coming off of the first game of a back-to-back, and will now play their best opponent so far in the season. The Sharks are up to 3-0-0, a pleasant surprise for a team that has missed two straight postseasons and were penciled in to miss a third just a couple of weeks ago. Now, they sit at the top of the Pacific Division, trailing the Connor McDavid-led Edmonton Oilers. Toronto’s biggest threat is obviously forward Auston Matthews, and he may be able to exploit one of the very few weaknesses that Sharks goaltender Adin Hill has: his mobility. He’s not a very mobile goaltender who is quick on the edges, which may become his own worst enemy as he takes on the league’s best goal-scorer, who can release a quick shot from practically anywhere. Another player to watch is defender Jake Muzzin, who we know all too well from his days in Los Angeles. He has stealthily become a top-20 defenseman in the NHL due to his shut-down abilities and solid offensive production as well. He’s arguably the best defender on the Maple Leafs at this moment, so if the Sharks want to compete against Toronto, they’re going to need to find a way to solve Muzzin. The underlying numbers actually show that the Sharks were outplayed last night by the Ottawa Senators, trailing in expected goals 2.05-3.25. The team may have expected the Senators to roll over, and were forced back on their heels because of it. #CSP #NHL #LEAFS NYRangers at Toronto MapleLeafs 10/18/2021 FullGame Live Reaction + raw Auston Matthews will play his first game this season when the Toronto Maple Leafs host the New York Rangers Matthews, who missed the first three games of the year while recovering from wrist surgery, spoke to the media Sunday and head coach Sheldon Keefe later said he expects the reigning Rocket Richard Trophy winner will be back in the lineup. After competing in an all-Canadian division last season and enduring six exhibition contests and three regular-season games against the same two teams (Habs & Sens), the Maple Leafs are finally facing off against a U.S opponent for the first time since August 2020 as they host the New York Rangers tonight in Toronto The Leafs were in a bit of an awkward situation when it came to managing their top six and top power play without Matthews fully available. With their star players skating but avoiding taking contact and unable to participate in exhibition games, the team balanced finding new combinations while preparing for his eventual return. MONTREAL at TORONTO PRESEASON GAME 10/05/2021 LIVE REACTION
MONTREAL at TORONTO PRESEASON GAME 10/05/2021 LIVE REACTION

MONTREAL V.S. TORONTO PRESEASON GAME 10/05/2021 Recruited from the KHL, Semyonov has unsurprisingly been the recipient of good opportunities to show his stuff in this exhibition season, including two games alongside Josh Ho-Sang and Michael Bunting and now a look in between Marner and Ritchie. He hasn’t looked out of place skill-wise in terms of his ability to complete plays and get himself into shooting positions while being responsible defensively and playing a prominent role on the penalty kill. Last night in Ottawa, he got himself on the scoresheet for the first time with two third-period assists on both Leaf goals, to go along with his six shots on goal through three preseason games. This will be Semyonov’s fourth-straight preseason appearance tonight — the Leafs are giving him a good hard look, as they promise to do with all KHL recruits, and Semyonov has made a reasonable case for himself so far, with an opportunity to add an exclamation point if he can save his best for tonight’s prime opportunity. Whether or not he gets squeezed out by the numbers game for opening night, the Leafs could mix him in for a few regular-season appearances based on not just the promises made to give him a real opportunity but also on the merits of his performances to date. He is waiver exempt on his one-year entry-level contract, but it’s unlikely he crossed the pond in order to spend much time making $80,000 in the AHL. As for Gusev, it is getting difficult to picture it working out in Toronto. He hasn’t clearly unseated any roster players under contract to date — including Pierre Engvall, who made an impact immediately in his preseason debut last night — and there arguably isn’t a natural fit within the Leafs‘ lineup mix if it’s not an extended look next to Tavares or Matthews. He appears to be redundant on this Leafs team and has been outshone by all of Nick Bunting, Ondrej Kase, Josh Ho-Sang, Pierre Engvall, Kirill Semyonov, and arguably even Michael Amadio and Adam Brooks, but perhaps Leafs brass sees the situation differently. Up front, Ilya Mikheyev will skate with John Tavares and William Nylander, which makes one think he has the edge for the spot for opening night (he’s also played with Tavares before opposite Hyman when he had more offensive success pre-injury back in 2019-20), but Sheldon Keefe cautioned against reading too much into it: SUPPORT THE CHANNEL https://streamlabs.com/crackedscreenproductions1 All Things Wrestling https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfAM4Zs3BIfe7pdHyePpRIw DISCORD https://discord.gg/pQbcwZRnjf 1.
