Celtics Vs Clippers Review | NBA February 5
The Los Angeles Clippers weren’t able to hold onto a first-half lead as the Boston Celtics were able to storm back thanks to a 38-20 3rd quarter and take the game 119-115. The Celtics move to 12-9 on the year thanks to 34 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals by Jayson Tatum, and 24 points by Kemba Walker. The Clippers fall to 17-7 despite 28 points and 11 rebounds from Kawhi Leonard and 18 points off the bench for Lou Williams. The Clippers will host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night while the Celtics will continue their western road trip against the Phoenix Suns. Mavs at Spurs 122 - 117 Review
The Dallas Mavericks thanks to an amazing performance by Luka Doncic were able to hold off a late run by the San Antiono Spurs for the 122-117 victory. Doncic was one rebound away from a triple double as he matched his season high with 36 points. DeMar DRozan did his best for the Spurs with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss. And be sure to follow the host Joshua Griffith on Twitter @JoshuaGriffith0 1st Quarter – Kristaps Porzingis came out hot for the Mavericks as he would make a 3 to start things before scoring the first 7 points for Dallas. Doncic would hit a fading two and the early lead was 11-4. Both Teams would go cold until Lonnie Walker was able to nail a 3 for the Spurs to cut into the lead. Porzingis would hit another 3 as that would set the tonne for the Mavericks game plan. Demar DeRozan was doing his best from the mid range as usual and attacking to get to the foul line. Lamarcus Aldridge had a big dunk on a clear out from Walker to make it 14-10. Luka Doncic had a impressive first quarter and drove for 2 of his 19 first quarter points. Aldridge would hit a 3 before Doncic would respond with a 3 of his own. The teams were lighting things up from beyond the arc as Aldridge would hit not one, but 2 more 3 top cut the lead to 21-19. Dallas would take a timeout but the Spurs would hold defensively before Rudy Gay would give them their first lead with a 3 of his own. Mills would come right back after a stop by San Antonio, The Aussie was fouled it what looked like a shot but it didn’t matter as he nailed another 3 off the inbound play. The Spurs had their largest lead of the night 25-21. Doncic would set up a nice alley op for the Mavericks before Aldridge nailed another 3. Luka Doncic was having a brilliant first quarter as he would find Willie Cauley-Stein for the flush. Derozan would respond with a spin in the lane for 2 but Doncic would take over to end the Quarter, two big 3’s capped off by this bomb to make it 37-32. Rudy gay would cut the score to 37-34 as the first quarter came to an end. Doncic had 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. In the Quarter! 2nd Quarter – The Kid from Compton DeRozan would get an early layup before Porzingis nailed another 3. The Mavs were shotting 6/11 from 3 point range at this point. Try as Demar might he could only do so much as his 2 was countered with a Jalen Brunson drive for the bucket and one to push the lead back up to 43-38. A Brunson 3 and a Tim Hardaway Jr. slam before Hardaway would nail a 3 of his own to force Greg Popovich to take a timeout down 10, 48-38. Keldon Johnson would score a pretty little reverse layup by the Spurs were still down 59-45. Dallas had two quick buckets to push their lead to the largest on the night at 18 before San Antonio would wake up. Derozan would attack, attack, attack for two’s and trips to the line. Lonnie Walker was able to cut the lead to 10 with a big 3 off a Dallas turnover before Johnson took the pass from Walker and brought things down to 8. Hardaway would stop the bleeding with a jumper and the teams would go into the half with the Mavericks up 68-58. DeRozan had 15 points to lead the Spurs while Doncic had 21-6-7 well on his way to another triple double. 3rd Quarter – 68-58 Down by 10 to start the 3rd quarter the Spurs came out trying to get back in the game. Aldridge would hit a two and they would get some stops on defense before Keldon Johnson would get the Offensive rebound and put it back in to cut the lead to 70-62. But the Mavericks would respond thanks to Hardaway Jr. who threw down 2 of his 21 points. Patti Mills would pick up for the Spurs as he hit a mid range shot before what ever this was between DeRozan and Brunson as they just comically bounce off each other. You need to make that shoot D! 4th Quarter – Johnson would get an early tip in on an offensive rebound before Patty Mills would hit a 2 as the 4th quarter would grind down to a snails pace. Lot of fouls and whistles. Rudy Gay would hit a 3 on the second chance possession to cut the lead back down to 8 with 9:19 to go and it looked like we had a game. Hardaway was trying to make sure it wasn’t with a slam that caused the Spurs to use another timeout. The Spurs couldn’t take advantage with Doncic on the bench and he would check back in with 7:18 to go. He would right away make an impact to bring the lead back to 108-98 with a jumper. Lakers at Bucks 113-106 Review | The Unnamed Sports Show
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks were coming off loses in this clash of titans Thursday night. Thanks to a season high 34 points by Lebron James the Lakers were able to move to 12-4 on the season. Giannis Antetokounmpo lead the way for the Bucks with 25 points but was plagued with foul trouble and turnovers all night. The Bucks lose their second consecutive game for the first time this year and fall to 9-6 on the year. Anthony Davis had 18 points 9 rebounds and 6 assists while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was on fire from beyond the arc with 7, count em 7 threes for 23 points. LA moves to 12-4 for the season and 8-0 on the road. They take on the Chicago Bulls Saturday. The Bucks saw good games from Jrue Holiday with 23 points and 7 assists and Kris Middleton with 22 points and also 7 assists. They just couldn’t stop the Lakers offensive fire power. They were scheduled to play the Wizards Friday night but the game has been postponed so they will play the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. A sign of things to come for the whole game. Giannis was able to nail a straight away 3 to give the Bucks a 2-point lead before A.D. came right back down low for the Lakers. Donte DiVincenzo would get a steal for Milwaukee and find Jrue Holiday for the big 3 before an early Laker Time out. With the Bucs up 19-13 Lebron James would hit one of his many shots to cut the lead back down to 3 with 6:20 to go in the first quarter. LBJ would soon check out which meant it was time for Anthony Davis to go to work. Lebron James would assert his dominance once again after the Bucks brought the lead back to 6. A deep 3 followed by another deep 3 and the game was exciting as anyone had hoped. After a layup for the Bucks Lebron would hit his 8th straight point for LA and they were down 41-37 as the Bucks took a timeout with 8 minutes left in the half. After Montrezl Harrel would cut the lead to 2, A.D would tie it up at 41 with his 5th FG on a nice fadeaway. Brook Lopez would respond for the Bucks with a big 3 and then bring it back to 5 after a turnover by the Lakers. It was 46-41 as things would resume and already in foul trouble Giannis was called for the charge and the flagrant foul on Harrell. K.C.P. was on fire all game from beyond the arc and late in the half he was able to give the Lakers the lead. Just to add insult to injury he would nail the buzzer beater at the half to make it 63-57. 3rd Quarter – (63-57 Lakers) The Lakers would keep adding to their lead in the second half, KCP hit another 3 before Lebron would push things to 12 with a big 3 of his own. The Bucks wouldn’t go away as Middleton was able to dish it through the legs of Lebron and find Holiday for the easy flush. Holiday would score again to cut it to 69-63. Davis would get sent to the line on an and one but miss the foul shot before Divincenzo would cut things back down to 3 from beyond the arc. The lead was just 70-67 for the Lakers. Cue up KCP for LA as Marc Gasol would get the LeBron miss and kick it out. KCP would come back with another 3 and after a bucs 3. Lebron scored his 22 point of the night on a layup to make it 78-70 with 5:23 to go in the 3rd quarter. Middleton was great for the Bucks and put up a floater for 2 of his 20 points. The Lakers were up 78-76 but would go on a but of a run thanks to Dennis Schroder and A.D. not to be out done Holiday would hit a nice step back 3 and the 3rd quarter would end with the Lakers up 86-81. 4th Quarter – Giannis would try his best to put the Bucks on his back scoring his 17th points early but a Lebron fade away would bring it back to 88-83. At 10:42 Lebron would hit his 5th triple of the game and the lead was back up to 8. Giannis would look to drive again but was called for the offensive foul and his 4th of the game. Things would go back and forth as the Lakers pushed the lead to 91-83. With just 9:45 the Bucks were running out of time. Kuzma and Holiday would trade buckets before Morris would nail a 3 and stretch the lead to 11. The Bucks just couldn’t stop the lakers as their rotation was slow all game.
