It’s Thursday afternoon and we’re coming at you with an early episode of Oilersnation Radio to help you finish get through your week with an hour of all things Edmonton Oilers. On this week’s show, we looked at the Oilers' loss to St. Louis, the WJC cancellation, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week’s podcast, we got started with a look at Oilers New Years' resolutions that we'd like to see the team carry into 2022. Whether it's shooting more, approaching the game with a pack mentality, shooting more, or anything in between, we offered our takes on what the Oilers should look to accomplish as we start a new year. From there, we look at last night's loss to the St. Louis Blues and how mistakes proved costly. Seeing as he made a couple of costly errors in his NHL debut, we also looked at Dmitri Samorukov's first game and whether or not it was fair that he was benched for the rest of the game after he was beaten twice for a pair of first period goals. That conversation led us into discussing Dave Tippett's future behind the bench and whether we're nearing the time when the team should be making a coaching change. Personally, I don't think we're all that close to having Tippett fired because that's not how Ken Holland rolls, but there is little doubt that the yearning for a new voice behind the bench is growing in Oil Country. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performers to recap what was a very busy week here in Edmonton.
Another Thursday has landed on our calendars and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get you through what’s left of your week. Today, the boys were talking about Tuesday's loss to the Maple Leafs, why it's wrong to throw a jersey on the ice, and a whole lot more. To kick off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the podcast got started with a look at Tuesday's loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs and how it was a demoralizing loss for Oilers fans, especially after the team started reasonably well but just couldn't put the puck in the back of the net. From Leafs fans taking over the building to the Oilers being completely snakebitten to a jersey being tossed on the ice, it was a rough night all around and a game that encompasses all of the things that are going wrong right now. From there, the podcast fell off the rails a little bit as the guys got into a passionate discussion about how MSG used to be the enemy even though the war has seemingly subsided here in 2021. From there, the MSG talk led into a chat about jean-skiing after Tourism Jasper joined the podcast as a brand new sponsor to pump up Jasper in January. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys looked at tonight's matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets and how the team is nearing must-win territory after losing six straight games. No, that doesn't mean they'll be eliminated from the playoffs if they lose, but they do need to get back in the win column to stop the bleeding and right the ship a little bit.
Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world. To kick off this week’s segment, we jumped in with a look at last night's loss to the Jets and specifically how another dreadful start put the Oilers in a hole too deep to find their way out. Needless to say, when you give up a goal on the first shot of the game and then another three before even getting started, it's going to be nearly impossible to win in this league and that's exactly what happened. I don't know why the Oilers are struggling with their starts so much these days, but it's a problem that Dave Tippett and his staff need to sort out sooner than later because it's a trend that cannot continue. From there, we looked at Connor McDavid not getting anything called in his favour, which has led some fans to say he's a whiner. Seeing as I haven't missed any games in McDavid's career to this point, the fact that anyone could say he's whining tells me that they just don't watch him play very often. In his defence, however, I don't know how many hacks, slashes, and holds the guy is supposed to play through before being allowed to say something, ya know?
The long weekend may be over but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end because the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to help you get this new week started. In today’s episode, the guys looked at the new recording studio, Tyler's tough day, previewed the new season, and a whole lot more. Kicking off today's podcast, the guys got started with a conversation about the new recording studio and all of the new content that's happening at Nation HQ for the upcoming season. As you'll hear, all of that new content meant more opportunities for Tyler to stress out which is an endless source of entertainment for anyone that gets to watch the chaos happen. Changing gears, the guys spoke with great enthusiasm about the new season as they walked through some of the futures bets that are listed on PointsBet. With the Oilers kicking off their season tomorrow night against the Canucks, the guys expressed their excitement about the new season and took a few guesses as to what the atmosphere will be like at Rogers Place for the first non-preseason game with fans in the building. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life by trying to extend the show long enough where Tyler wasn't able to get the food he was so desperately needing.
Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in local Edmonton radio. As I do every Wednesday, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about Monday’s big win over the Jets, what to expect from tonight’s rematch, and anything else that’s going on in the world of the Edmonton Oilers. To kick off this week's appearance, we jumped in with a look at Monday's dominant win over the Winnipeg Jets and specifically how the tempo of these games has really cranked up as we near the finish line. Seeing as the end of the regular season is just around the corner, we also spoke about whether or not Dave Tippett might look at easing back Connor McDavid's minutes to make sure he's ready to roll for the playoffs. With the captain playing out of his mind, however, pulling McDavid off the ice might be easier said than done. We also looked at Ryan McLeod and Dmitry Kulikov's debut with the Oilers, so I gave my take on both guys.
A new week is here and that means the boys are back with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast recorded to help make sense of the world around us. This week, the guys covered Tyler's donair feedback, a potential new segment, NHL documentaries, and a whole lot more. Kicking off the Monday episode of Real Life, the boys got started with a look at the passionate feedback that came in from Tyler's first donair, specifically how he was getting bombarded with hatred over the way he held it and the toppings that were included. Amazingly, donairs weren't the only common food that Tyler hasn't eaten before and may have spawned a new segment where the boys get him to try new foods and activities. Next up, the guys looked at the UFC's weekend after two gruesome injuries came out in back-to-back fights and another round of discussion came up that the fighters are poorly paid. Back to hockey, the guys decided to brainstorm some ideas for potential documentaries that the National Hockey League could look at doing now that they have a new agreement with ESPN. Would it make sense to do a series about the Seattle Kraken? Would it make sense to focus on individual teams throughout the season? Lastly, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a look at tonight's matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets for what could potentially be a playoff matchup.
Good morning, dearest Internet strangers, and welcome to another edition of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in local Edmonton radio. As I do each and every Wednesday, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a few minutes to talk about last night's debacle, what to expect at the trade deadline, and anything else that's going on in the world of the Edmonton Oilers. Kicking off this week’s segment, we jumped in with a few minutes about a Snapchat memory he had pop up from a past Nation Road Trip to Calgary, which was absolutely devastating to hear because it made me miss our trips so much. If you've never been on one of our trips, you have to make it happen whenever we're allowed to leave our houses again. Back to the Oilers, it went without saying that we were going to discuss last night's disaster but I definitely didn't want to. The Oilers were about as bad as we've seen them in that game against Montreal and all I could really say is that I hope it's a one-off. Speaking of that game, we wrapped up this week's conversation about the elbow Connor McDavid caught Kotkaniemi with in the second period and whether or not it merits a fine/suspension. Personally, I can't imagine it will, but the NHL often doesn't make any sense so what the hell do I know?
