FSU vs Clemson Film Review | Addressing FSU's performance in Death Valley

This was a back and forth game and it looked like what a lot of people outside of either fanbase figured it would look like. A relatively low-scoring kind of messy football game. Clemson’s defense is elite and it did what elite defenses do: defend. For the most part, outside of a few chunk plays, FSU really couldn’t get much going with the ball in their hands. On the other side of the ball, a cursory glance at the score would tell you that FSU’s defense failed spectacularly. Thirty points are the most given up by any Division 1 team against the Tigers this year. It seems like FSU failed on all levels this past Saturday. However, the true story isn’t that cut and dry. That's where the Triple Option guys come into play. They are here to slice through the narratives and uncover the truth that only the film can provide. They just had a dominant win over the University of Massachusetts Minutemen to continue their three-game winning streak. Meanwhile, their rivals are all sputtering. Miami has been hit with the injury bug and is a shell of the team they were expected to be, Florida only plays football on one side of the ball, but the strangest of all is Clemson. The Clemson Tigers have as many losses early in this season as they have had the past three seasons combined. Their offense is anemic and their defense is the only thing keeping their heads above water. It seems like FSU may have a much better chance to beat the Tigers than anyone would have guessed a few weeks ago. This episode of the Triple Option is a two-parter. First, we take a quick peek at some Clemson film and look at what they like to do and what can FSU do to stop them. Then we move on to the second half of the UMass game to take a look at some of the up-and-coming players that don’t normally get in-game reps. FSU vs Louisville Film Review | Addressing Some Common Narratives

This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. The Louisville Cardinals were the most recent roadblock on FSU’s race to the bottom of the barrel. The Cardinals sped off to a 31-7 lead behind a solid performance by quarterback Malik Cunningham. However, that momentum couldn’t be sustained and FSU began to climb out of the hole throughout the second half. The Seminoles made up some ground but the early lead proved insurmountable as their valiant comeback was halted short of its objective. A loss like this and a season like this can only spur on a litany of narratives as people search for answers. Some of these narratives are good. They help explain and alleviate some issues within the program. Some of these narratives aren’t as good. They deflect blame from the true issues and only serve to further handicap the program. That's where the guys at the Triple Option come in. This week they play mythbuster as they evaluate the validity of a few claims surrounding this game and this team. Namely: Did Louisville fundamentally changed their game plan for the second half, going too conservative to allow FSU back into the game? Is McKenzie Milton is the biggest problem in the passing game? Would the offensive issues would be solved if Jashaun Corbin and Treshaun Ward got all of the touches? Are failures on 3rd down are due to coaching issues or talent issues? The most recent addition to this inauspicious start was a loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons that never really felt within range. Head Coach Mike Norvell and his staff are still searching for answers to how they can get this team back on track and the FSU fanbase as a whole has not been hesitant to supply advice. After that performance, the coaches were bombarded with a litany of questions- some good and some not as good- asking them to explain some decisions made throughout the game. Luckily at Tomahawk Nation, we have easy access to a man that participated in Monday’s press conference firsthand.
