Manchester City's Sergio Aguero to have fitness test ahead of United derby
Manchester City's Sergio Aguero to have fitness test ahead of United derby

Sergio Aguero could return for Manchester City's derby against United if he passes a fitness test on Friday. The Argentine striker has not featured for City since March 4 after suffering a knee injury in training."I don't know right now [whether he will play]," said Guardiola. "We have training on Friday afternoon and will see how his physical condition is." Man City vs Man Utd April 7, 2018, 5:00pm Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass Gabriel Jesus has started up front in Aguero's absence and admitted he produced one of his worst performances in City's 3-0 Champions League defeat at Liverpool, but Guardiola is backing the Brazilian to respond."He is so strong," said the City boss. "He is 21 years old. It is the first time he played at Anfield, it is the first time he played in a knockout game in the Champions League. "You have to live those situations to be better players. You always suffer the first time. The next time will be better."But I don't agree with him - he played good. He did what we spoke about [beforehand] and fought a lot."'We are close to being champions'Guardiola will clinch his first Premier League title, and City's third in seven seasons, with victory over their city rivals on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League. "It's another game," said the Spaniard. "United defend differently from Liverpool. We try to play the same way as we have all season."So far our season has been so good. It's almost done. It's a bit like Liverpool - it's almost done. We are close to being champions. "It's a coincidence because it's the derby but it doesn't matter. We just have to be focused on what we have to do to win the game."Victory over United would be a welcome boost to City ahead of Wednesday's second leg against Liverpool but Guardiola admits the Reds already have one foot in the semi-finals. "It was a tough result and makes it difficult for us next Tuesday," he said. "Of course we are going to try, we will have our chance to be in the game and to try and go through."I reviewed the Liverpool game and they played like they always play at Anfield. For the last 15 or 20 minutes of the first half, they were much better than us. But the first 25 minutes and the second half, we were so good."They are already almost qualified for the semi-finals but we have 90 minutes. The door is almost closed but it is still a little bit open. There is still some space to get in and we're going to try."

Aston Villa 3-0 Reading: Steve Bruce's side cruise to victory over 10-man Royals
Aston Villa 3-0 Reading: Steve Bruce's side cruise to victory over 10-man Royals

Aston Villa bounced back to winning form with an easy 3-0 Sky Bet Championship win over Reading. Steve Bruce's side outplayed struggling Reading for almost the entire game and the Royals, who played with 10 men for the last hour, succumbed to second-half goals from Birkir Bjarnason, Conor Hourihane and Scott Hogan.Reading had defeated Villa in their last two encounters but there were few opportunities to repeat their success as they slumped to their ninth defeat in 10 away games and now find themselves deeply involved in a relegation battle. They were completely dominated by a Villa side who eventually recorded their most comfortable win of the season. A late bonus for Villa saw Jonathan Kodjia, their main marksman last season, made his first home appearance since last October as a second-half substitute to give the club an added boost in the run-in to the end of the season. He has been absent with an ankle injury. With only one point from their previous three games, Villa's uncertainty was evident in the early skirmishes.Although Jack Grealish had an early chance in the fourth minute with a volley which went over the bar, Villa lacked initial conviction against a Reading side who began with five players across the back. Norwich vs A Villa April 7, 2018, 12:00pm Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass Sterling defensive play enabled the Royals to stay in the game, helped by some indifferent finishing which was highlighted on one occasion midway through the first half when Neil Taylor made a hash of a left-footed shot.Reading's hopes effectively disappeared on the half-hour when David Edwards collected a second yellow card and an early departure from the game. Two minutes later only a smart save by Vito Mannone kept out a Hogan header and in the next raid he blocked an effort on the goal-line from the same Villa player. The over-worked Mannone then casually held a long-range Grealish shot. The goalkeeper was helpless a minute into the second half though when Villa broke the stalemate.Grealish set up Robert Snodgrass, who jinked his way into space before slipping a low pass into the path of Bjarnson to score with a swerving shot to the right of Mannone. The second goal arrived in the 62nd minute when Hourihane was on hand to head home a short cross from Snodgrass.Villa's third goal came when Mannone was stranded yards out of his goal and Hogan took full advantage to score with a low raking shot in the 70th minute.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink sacked by Northampton after Peterborough defeat

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been sacked by Northampton Town, Sky Sports News understands, after a 2-0 defeat to Peterborough left the club two points adrift of safety in League Two.
