Barcelona made the most of Real Madrid's La Liga absence by beating Celta Vigo 2-0 and going eight points clear of them.  Santiago Solari's team maybe on top of the world in Abu Dhabi but it's Barca on top of La Liga - and they look there to stay. Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring after the Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba mutual appreciation society worked its magic creating the chance. Those two combined again for the second goal with Messi ending another year with another goal - no one in La Liga can match his tally of 15 so far this season. Barcelona took the lead through Dembele on 10 minutes when Ruben Blanco could only block Alba's shot. The left back had played a long one-two with Messi slicing through the right hand side of Celta Vigo's defence. Celta Vigo drew both their games against Barcelona last season and came into the match with La Liga's second hottest strike pair Iago Aspas and Maxi Gomez. Those two led the protests when it appeared that Clement Lenglet had handled a cross from Brais Mendes. It would have been harsh on the defender whose arm was down and tight to his body, and the referee waved away the appeals. Dembele raced clear as Barcelona threatened to double the lead but clashed with keeper Blanco and needed treatment. The ball had run to Alba and his shot was cleared by Nestor Araujo. Celta looked good going forward and Hugo Mallo thick-edged one shot well wide spoiling one impressive attack. But they were playing with fire, playing out from the back and just before half time they did something unforgiveable - left Messi unmarked running through centrally towards the penalty area. It was Alba who found him, of course. The relationship with the left-back and the number 10 is now as telepathic as Messi's understanding with Dani Alves once was. Messi only needed one touch to nudge the ball forward before he thrashed it left-footed into the top right-hand corner. Celta came out with plenty of intensity at the start of the second half and coach Miguel Cardoso had added Stanislav Lobotka's to midfield. But they were dealt a major blow when Aspas hobbled off on 52 minutes. He was applauded from all four sides of the Camp Nou. That kind of ovation is reserved for very few players and it's a measure of the respect he has earned in Spain - a reputation so markedly different to the one he left behind in England after his brief spell at Liverpool. Aspas' old Liverpool team-mate Suarez shot just wide from Alba's assist. A pass to the unmarked Dembele might have seen Barcelona extend their lead. Messi, moments earlier, had gone to the other extreme, trying to pass when he could have finished. It was too easy for Barcelona now. Messi almost slid in the third after Blanco pushed out Nelson Semedo's shot. Messi finished up sat in the goalmouth trying to hook the ball out of the keeper's precarious grasp. Celta kept going and Fran Beltran should have converted with Araujo flicked on a corner but Ter Stegen smothered on his line. Barcelona kept their fourth successive clean sheet in the league. And with things fixed at one end they are as smooth as ever at the other - they will take some shifting from the top.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's second coming at Manchester United might kick off at Cardiff

Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/pqS0mLOle Gunnar Solskjaer's second coming at Manchester United might kick off at Cardiff. It is an interesting coincidence that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s second coming at Manchester United might kick off at a ground where his first running as a Premier League manager was such a regrettable failure. Indeed, it went so horribly wrong at Cardiff City between January and September of 2014 that the common assumption was that this most likeable of figures might never again be seen in British management. But as of Tuesday night, with United deliberating over bringing him back as a caretaker, that is suddenly a live option once more, with the likelihood that he will be taking charge at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday evening.  To those of a United persuasion, there will be something deeply heart-warming about the return of their baby-faced assassin; to those who follow Cardiff, the appointment and forthcoming fixture is a reminder of a little boy lost in their dugout. Granted, there have been few clubs, if any, in the history of the Premier League that have offered a more chaotic work space than the one built by Vincent Tan and which Solskjaer entered as the hyped young manager of Molde. But there can be no denying that what followed was a footballing disaster, spanning defeats every other game, failed signings, a broken system, a spy-gate row, a relegation and what a few reporters of the time recall simply as the day with the balloon. In that instance, it refers to the post-match briefing in a storeroom under the main stand. The Norwegian was discussing another loss when he suddenly started doing keepie-uppies with a red balloon while explaining how useful it was for building good technique. A few of us stood around confused, but then that was just about normal for those covering the club that season. The sorry truth in terms of Solskjaer was that he was the wrong choice, and an expensive mistake given he was understood to be on a £4m annual deal, rolling for 12 months. His statistics show that at Cardiff he won nine of 30 games, but only three of those were in the Premier League between his arrival and Cardiff’s relegation.  2008-2011: Manchester United Reserves 2011-2014: Molde 2014: Cardiff 2014-2016: Clausenengen 2015-present: Molde  He arrived with Cardiff 17th in the top flight and he left with them 17th in the Championship, despite having the outlay to bring in seven new faces in his first transfer window. Three of those were Norwegians who now play in the US, the German second division and Norway. A further issue of the time was his style – he inherited a side that was solid yet limited under Mackay and rebuilt it overnight with an attacking brief, which Tan would have liked. The obvious risk played out - a decent defensive side became largely useless at both ends and they finished dead last amid constant tweaks and changes that yielded no impact. Again, the environment was all wrong – the leaking of team information by an employee to Crystal Palace was a glaring example of that. But it can only be scant mitigation for a lovely man who was liked by almost everyone at Cardiff yet will be considered a disappointment by almost as many.

Police made two arrests at Tynecastle on Saturday after Motherwell substitute Christian Mbulu was allegedly the subject of racist abuse. Police Scotland received footage which shows a group of supporters in the main stand, during Hearts' 1-0 win, shouting comments at the 22-year-old as he warmed up. Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson told BBC Scotland the act was 'an absolute disgrace' and added: 'I've just seen the video of it. 'I thought this was 2018 but that was the dark ages and dinosaur stuff. For a player to have to take that kind of stuff is disgusting. 'They should not be anywhere near football. There is no place for that in any walk of life. No walk of life should accept that in modern society.' Hearts released a statement pledging to implement stadium bans for the culprits. 'The club is aware of an incident of alleged racism during the second half of today's match against Motherwell and is cooperating fully with Police Scotland on the matter,' it read. 'Heart of Midlothian abhors racism and all forms of abuse, and the individuals in question will receive indefinite bans from Tynecastle Park.' Last month, a group of Hearts fans were heard chanting in support of far-right activist Tommy Robinson during their 2-0 loss in Paisley to St Mirren.

Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/pqS0mLReal Madrid 6-1 Melilla: Captain Isco nets brace on first start under Santiago Solari as hosts win. Isco has answered his critics by netting twice on his first start under Santiago Solari as Real Madrid eased past minnows Melilla to advance to the last-16 of the Copa del Rey. Thursday's match got underway early at 3.15pm with December 6 being a national holiday in Spain - it marked the 40th anniversary since their new constitution was approved in a referendum. Despite the occasion, thousands of fans still turned out at the Bernabeu to watch Madrid put their opponents to the sword.  Solari's men already had one foot in the next round before a ball had even been kicked here, having won the first leg in Melilla 4-0. The side from the autonomous city of Melilla on the north coast of Africa knew they faced an uphill task with a significant deficit to overturn and quickly realised they would need a miracle after Marco Asensio struck a quickfire double shortly after the half-hour mark.  Asensio's goals came in quick succession amid a flurry of activity late in the first half as he found the back of the net twice. Minutes later and things got worse for the visitors with 21-year-old Javier Sanchez grabbing a moment to savour by adding the third.   Isco made it 4-0 two minutes after the break and then, after 18-year-old Vinicius Junior deservedly got his name on the scoresheet, doubled his tally. Melilla grabbed a consolation goal 10 minutes from the end through Yacine Qasmi's penalty, but there was still enough time for Isco to strike again as Real coasted to an emphatic win over the Segunda Division B, Group 4 leaders. Having left the newly-crowned Ballon D'Or winner Luka Modric out of the 18, Solari had to be patient and it was not until the 33rd minute that the LaLiga giants got their noses in front when Asensio ran on to full-back Dani Carvajal's ball and fired into the bottom corner of Pedro Luis' goal. Once the seal had been broken, Real had the bit between their teeth and they extended their lead within two minutes when Asensio repeated the feat with teenager Vinicius Junior this time supplying the ammunition. The game, as well as the tie, was effectively over six minutes before the break when Asensio turned provider to allow Sanchez to help himself to a third, and Melilla's hopes of keeping matters respectable were deal a further blow within two minutes of the restart when skipper Isco blasted home from distance. Vinicius went close twice in quick succession and then had two more efforts saved as the home side went for the kill, but he finally got his reward with 15 minutes remaining when he rounded off a pacy break. Qasmi made no mistake from 12 yards after being fouled by Sanchez as time ran down, but the respite was temporary and Isco restored the five-goal margin seven minutes from time.
