Suwałki [suˈvau̯kʲi] (Lithuanian: Suvalkai; Yiddish: סואוואַלק, German: Suwalken, 1941–1944 Sudauen) is a city in northeastern Poland with a population of 69,420 (2011). It is the capital of Suwałki County and one of the most important centers of commerce in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
Suwałki Region is a small region around the city of Suwałki (known in Lithuanian as Suvalkai) in northeastern Poland near the border with Lithuania. Lithuania disputed Suwałki being part of the new Polish Republic after its re-emergence as an independent state after World War I.
