Trade rumors, Is Anthony Davis Finally Coming to Boston?! 🤯
The NBA offseason is heating up and the rumors are swirling around a potential Anthony Davis to the Celtics deal. With the Washington Wizards winning the draft lottery and securing the number one pick to rebuild their young core the veteran star Anthony Davis is suddenly looking for a new home. This massive shift in the Washington timeline has Boston fans wondering if Brad Stevens will finally make the blockbuster move that Danny Ainge tried to execute years ago. However executing an Anthony Davis to the Celtics transaction comes with massive salary cap hurdles that could destroy the current roster depth. Because Davis has a massive contract exceeding fifty eight million dollars Boston would likely have to sacrifice Jaylen Brown or a massive package including Derrick White and Sam Hauser and Payton Pritchard just to make the math work. Giving up reliable perimeter depth and core pieces for an aging and injury prone big man with a massive player option could be a huge mistake for a team trying to stay in championship contention. The only safe pathway for an Anthony Davis to the Celtics acquisition involves extremely complicated salary cap gymnastics using traded player exceptions and expiring contracts. Without that perfect scenario Boston should steer clear of this massive gamble and focus on safer ways to upgrade their frontcourt rotation.
