Coming on the back of a draw against SC East Bengal, Jamshedpur FC took the early initiative of jumping on top of the table after dominating FC Goa for a 3-1 win in a 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Friday. Nerijus Valskis (51', 61') was the hero of the match as he remained one shy of a perfect hat-trick, managing to first drive the ball with his left foot and then score via a header. Jordan Murray (80') piled the third right after coming off the bench. Airan Cabrera though denied the Men of Steel a clean sheet with a neat finish to register a goal in the 86th minute. Fourth-placed FC Goa will take on a team which is two spots below it in the 2020-21 Indian Super League standings - Jamshedpur FC - in match 58 of the tournament at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao on Thursday. The duel between strikers Igor Angulo (Goa) and Nerijus Valskis (Jamshedpur), who are on top of the ISL 2020-21 Golden Boot standings, with nine and eight goals, respectively, will be the main talking point of the game. FCG has never lost an encounter in which Angulo has scored. However, the real problem for the outfit is the lack of goals from other players. Jorge Mendoza, with two goals, is the second-highest goalscorer for The Gaurs. #FCGoa #JamshedpurFC #ISL
We saw an amazing performance from Jamshedpur after going down to 10 men! They hold Mumbai to a 1-1 draw with Peter Hartley putting a big, big performance in central defense. There were chances that fell Ogbeche's way in the second half but he could not convert. Valskis found the back of the net but was deemed offside. We have a fan from the West Coast Brigade sharing his thoughts on the match and Mumbai's performance.
