The first Test of the series will be played at Windsor Park Roseau Dominica. An interesting factor about Dominica is that the particular venue is hosting an international red-ball game after six long years. Team Preview (India): Led by Rohit Sharma the Men in Blue have been the dominant side in both WTC cycles played so far. But despite being a team to beat India haven't fired when they needed losing the finals to New Zealand (2019-21) and Australia (2021-23). And in pursuit of an ICC title the Men in Blue are regrouping with a mixture of young and experienced squad. It is confirmed by captain Rohit Sharma that Yashasvi Jaiswal will make his Test debut and will open the batting alongside him. Shubman Gill will bat down at number three the place opened after management dropped veteran Cheteshwar Pujara for the tour. Virat Kohli Ajinkya Rahane Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will complete the middle and lower order. It will be interesting to see who the team management will opt for the glove work. So the fight will be between Srikar Bharat and Mumbai Indians' Ishan Kishan for that most-important spot in the XI. On the pace bowling front it will be led by the fiery Mohammed Siraj. Giving him the company it is expected to be the duo of Jaydev Unadkat and Shardul Thakur. But don't be surprised if Mukesh Kumar gets an opportunity to make an India debut. India will hope for a winning start but it won't be easy in the Caribbean Islands. India featured only once in Dominica and it was back in 2011 when the venue made its debut in Test match cricket. Both these sides played out a draw when they met back in 2011. Team Preview (West Indies): West Indies are under their new head coach Daren Sammy who is all set to make his Test coaching debut. The two-time ICC T20 World Cup-winning captain is coming off a horrible experience in the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers as the Men in Maroon failed to make it to the main event later in the year in India. Focusing on the purest format of the game the records aren't pleasing. The Kraigg Brathwaite-led side has been pretty poor in the previous two championship cycles. West Indies would want to start the third WTC cycle well but they are facing the two-time runners-up of WTC India which is not going to be an easy task. West Indies team management has named a 13-man squad for the first Test. A few new faces have been added to the team. As usual Brathwaite is leading the side. The impressive Tagenarine Chanderpaul will accompany his skipper up at the top with the bat. Alick Athanaze had a wonderful domestic season and has been in the pick of the things in the West Indies-A set-up as well as toured South Africa in the previous WTC cycle. Kirk McKenzie has got his maiden call-up to the camp. The rest of the side is pretty similar comprising experienced Jason Holder Jermaine Blackwood Alzarri Joseph Shannon Gabriel Kemar Roach Raymon Reifer and Joshua Da Silva as expected will don the gloves. Rahkeem Cornwall an all-arounder who last played in a Test in November 2021 as well as left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican who was a member of the team that toured Zimbabwe but was absent from the most recent tour of South Africa in February have been called back. Gudakesh Motie was unavailable for the selection as he is undergoing rehabilitation from injury. Kyle Mayers is rested for the first Test after complaining about some niggles in the recently concluded ICC World Cup Qualifiers. The equation is simple for Lucknow. A win takes them through to the playoffs regardless of what happens elsewhere. They might still go through even if they lose but for that to happen they need at least one of MI or RCB to lose tomorrow. As for KKR they need nothing short of a miracle to make the playoffs from here. Not only are they relying on other results they also need a massive win in this game to improve their NRR. To be precise they need to beat LSG by at least 110 runs if they score 180 batting first to climb above RCB on the table. So a 74-run stand between Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni revives Lucknow Super Giants from a terrible situation. The visitors have got 176 runs on the board and thanks to some calypso power. Nitish Rana the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first. It was the two young guns- Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora who operated with the new ball. It was Harshit Rana who outsmarted the UP-based Karan Sharma in the third over of the innings. A 41 runs partnership followed between Prerak Mankad and Quinton de Kock for the second wicket with the former playing some crisp shots. But unfortunately for LSG Arora struck after the powerplay and followed it with another wicket in the same over. Stoinis who arrived then departed without disturbing the scorers much. Krunal Pandya and de Kock followed him with the scoreboard displaying 73-5 after 10.1 overs. The spinners operated in the middle phase with Suyash Sharma being the impact sub. The astonishing factor being that Suyash was given to bowl just a solitary over where he conceded 12 runs. The LSG batting came into the act with Nicholas Pooran lighting up the atmosphere at the Eden Gardens. He counter-punched the bowlers of KKR and helped the franchise reach a more than respectable total. Narine went on to remove Badoni at the end of the 18th over with Shardul Thakur bragging two scalps in the penultimate over. With some lusty blows from Krishnappa Gowtham off Andre Russell in the last over LSG ends the tally at 176. KKR will need 177 runs to get a consolation triumph. But here's a thing. If KKR scores at least 80 runs in this innings CSK will finish in the second position. Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w) Karan Sharma Prerak Mankad Marcus Stoinis Nicholas Pooran Krunal Pandya(c) Ayush Badoni Krishnappa Gowtham Ravi Bishnoi Naveen-ul-Haq Mohsin Khan. Lucknow Super Giants Subs: Kyle Mayers Yash Thakur Daniel Sams Yudhvir Singh Charak Deepak Hooda. Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w) Jason Roy Venkatesh Iyer Nitish Rana(c) Andre Russell Rinku Singh Shardul Thakur Sunil Narine Vaibhav Arora Harshit Rana Varun Chakaravarthy. Kolkata Knight Riders Subs: Suyash Sharma Mandeep Singh Anukul Roy N Jagadeesan David Wiese. Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders): "I think it's a good pitch if you put your mind into it you can bowl well. There is a bit of spin but you have to bowl a little quick. I think the situation of the game depends on how you bowl so it depends on the best option for you. If we get a good start in the powerplay I think we should come out victorious. No dew in the pitch it's pretty dry." Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. IPL 2023 Match 39 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Gujarat Titans Live This Match Will be Played at Eden Gardens Kolkata on 29th April 2023 This Match Will Start at 3.30pm From Indian Standard time. The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday 29th April at 3:30 PM IST. Team Preview Kolkata Knight Riders: have played eight matches in the tournament so far. They have managed to win three of these matches and are currently at number seven in the points table. After a relatively good start in the tournament KKR lost their way as they lost four matches on the bounce. But they have returned back to winning ways with a victory against RCB in the last match. The 'Purple Army' will be looking to ride on the winning momentum that they have and win against GT on their home turf picking up two valuable points. Mentionable in the last meeting with GT Rinku Singh pulled off an improbable heist for the team hitting five sixes in the last over to take them across the line. Nitish Rana and company will be keen to repeat the antics in this match also. Team Preview Gujarat Titans: The defending champions have been consistent in their campaign this year. They have played seven matches in the tournament and managed to win five. Currently they are at number two in the points table and will be looking to maintain their position in the top half of the table with a win in this match. Hardik Pandya and his men will be mindful of the way they lost the match this time. They will try and avoid any late slip in this match and pick up two important points. In their last match against Mumbai Indians the Titans practically batted their opponents out of the match. They posted a stellar total of 207 runs on the board while batting first and then restricted the five-time champions to 152 for 9 in 20 overs. They will look to maintain this momentum and pick up another win on the bounce. Kolkata Knight Riders Shardul Thakur bowled an extended spell and also batted during practice before the game in Bengaluru but did not play the game as he was still recovering from a niggle. and is likely to replace Vaibhav Arora unless KKR opt to leave out Umesh who has been bagged only one wicket and has an economy of close to 10. Tactics & match-ups: Shardul could prove an effective option against Shubman Gill having dismissed him twice and conceding only 36 runs off 32 balls against the GT opener. Narine has dismissed Wriddhiman Saha four times and could be used early by KKR when they are bowling. Gujarat Titans: The Hardik Pandya-led team are likely to stick to the same combination that won them the last two matches. Tactics & match-ups: Andre Russell averages only 3.67 against Rashid Khan with a strike rate of 61.11 and has been dismissed three times by the Afghanistan legspinner. GT are likely to focus on this match-up and turn to Pandya who has dismissed Nitish Rana twice. Did you know: Hardik Pandya has scored 366 runs in 11 innings against KKR averaging 61 with a strike rate of 173.46. He has also picked up 11 wickets against them at an average of 14.45 with an economy of 6.91. Sunil Narine has bowled 1442 dot deliveries in the IPL. He needs 11 more to overtake R Ashwin who is currently in the second spot. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1473) has bowled the most number of dot balls. What to expect: As many as four 200-plus totals have been scored in only six innings at the Eden Gardens so far with 222 being the average first innings total. The team batting first has won each of the three matches but those were all evening games and it remains to be seen if the conditions differ for the afternoon match. Both teams have had a break of six days before this game and are currently level on four wins each. Punjab have done a great job to be in this position despite some key players missing. Their last couple of victories haven't come because of one or two players. Instead different names have stepped up with the bat in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan while the bowling has largely been brilliant throughout - the highlight being that over from Arshdeep Singh at the Wankhede. How good was that! And how much better can Punjab do if Dhawan and Rabada were to return now! Some unbelievable strikes and continuous power hitting from Kyle Mayers Ayush Badoni Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran have helped the LSG side to post the highest total this season. Only the second time 250+ total have been put by a team in the history of the IPL! Earlier in the evening Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and invited LSG to bat first. Kyle Mayers was going all guns blazing and added 41 runs for the first wicket in no time alongside KL Rahul. The latter was playing second fiddle to Mayers but showed intent by lofting Kagiso Rabada on his first ball for a six. But the South African pacer had the last laugh on the LSG skipper and dismissed Rahul on the next delivery. Mayers continued his onslaught and hammered his fourth fifty of the season. Ayush Badoni was promoted to number three and batted freely. Mayers and Badoni added 33 runs for the second wicket. Mayers (54 off 24) too was taken care of by Rabada in the last ball of the powerplay. LSG smoked 74 runs in the first six and lost both the openers. Badoni and Marcus Stoinis took off and smashed the bowling side to all parts of the ground stitching 89 runs for the third wicket. Following this Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran took the scoring rate up exponentially and blistered 76 runs for the fourth wicket. PBKS bowlers had no answers to this and ended up flat on the ground. While Badoni scored 43 off 24 balls Stoinis slammed 74 off 40 balls. Pooran was out in the final over but before getting trapped infront the West Indian clubbed 45 off just 17 balls as LSG posted 257/5 in the 20 overs. Punjab Kings (Playing XI): Atharva Taide Shikhar Dhawan(c) Sikandar Raza Liam Livingstone Sam Curran Jitesh Sharma(w) Shahrukh Khan Kagiso Rabada Rahul Chahar Gurnoor Brar Arshdeep Singh. Punjab Kings Subs: Prabhsimran Singh Mohit Rathee Rishi Dhawan Matthew Short Harpreet Brar. Lucknow Super Giants (Playing XI): KL Rahul(c) Kyle Mayers Deepak Hooda Marcus Stoinis Krunal Pandya Nicholas Pooran(w) Ayush Badoni Naveen-ul-Haq Ravi Bishnoi Avesh Khan Yash Thakur. Lucknow Super Giants Subs: Krishnappa Gowtham Daniel Sams Prerak Mankad Amit Mishra Mark Wood. Ayush Badoni (LSG): "I feel really good. I was waiting for this opportunity for so long and I finally got it today so really happy I could contribute. When I came on I realized that the wicket is very good and I can bat for long and I was just told to play my shots and put away the old balls. We were not thinking too much about the total but to put away the bad balls and put away the bad balls." Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content.
