Houston still carries the name recognition with stars like Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Alex Bregman, but this year’s lineup hasn’t been that reliable night to night. Detroit, on the other hand, is very much a team built on arms, not bats. Spencer Torkelson hasn’t fully broken out yet, Riley Greene is talented but streaky, and the supporting cast is below average compared to the league’s offensive leaders. So when Griffin calls this “two aces,” he’s leaning heavily on the fact that both rotations line up for a top-end starter clash. In MLB betting, totals of 7 are already on the low side, signaling respect for pitching. When two starters with genuine ace potential go head-to-head, that number can still look generous if you’re expecting a duel. The Pitching Matchup Detroit has been leaning on Tarik Skubal, a lefty who’s emerging as a legit frontline guy.
