Press, cover and balance | Coaching session on defending skills

Join our coach Chris as he delivers a session focused on pressing, covering, and balancing — helping players understand how and when to press, how to position themselves effectively, and how to provide cover for teammates during defensive moments. This session helps coaches guide their players to recognise pressing triggers, work on team shape and compactness, and develop communication and decision-making when defending as a unit. Players will also practise transitioning quickly after winning possession to create attacking opportunities. This session is part of a six week session programme, and this week's focus challenges players to explore pressing and defensive organisation — understanding how co-ordinated pressure, covering positions, and collective teamwork can improve out-of-possession play.
