Tom Brady, despite throwing for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns, turned the ball over three times with the final one being the nail in the coffin as P.J. Williams returned it for a touchdown. Chris Godwin finished with a season high 140 yards on eight catches, adding in a touchdown that gave the Bucs the early 7-0 lead, but it was third string quarterback Trevor Siemian that led the charge for New Orleans once Jameis Winston left the game with a knee injury. Siemian got the Saints out to a 23-7 lead early in the second half before Brady and the Buccaneers offense stormed back to take a 27-26 lead. In the end, the defense couldn't get the job done, allowing the Saints to march down the field for a go ahead field goal before the ill timed pick six put the game out of reach with under 1:40 to play. The biggest story surrounding this one was the penalties. The Buccaneers accounted for eleven of the game's thirteen penalties, awarding the Saints six free first downs because of lapses in judgement by the defense. One penalty - an early roughing the passer call - negated an interception in the end zone by Antoine Winfield Jr. that could have swung the game in the Bucs' favor in the second quarter. Though officiating was not the reason the Buccaneers lost this game, some suspect calls - or non-calls - certainly played into it. Through 24 games in the regular season, Tom Brady has turned the ball over against the Saints eight times in three games, while turning the ball over just twelve times in the other 21 games. The Bucs have now lost six regular season matchups in a row, their last win coming in week one of 2018 where they were led by Ryan Fitzpatrick. With the Buccaneers headed for the bye week, they have time to continue to get healthy and get some things figured out on both sides of the ball. The New Orleans Saints claimed a statement win in Foxborough against the New England Patriots, but lost yet another key player for extended time after star tackle Terron Armstead suffered an elbow injury. Armstead is expected to miss three to six weeks and thus could go to injured reserve. Expect James Hurst to step into his role in his stead. While the Saints may be adding another name to IR, five players are now eligible to return, depending on their injury recovery. Wil Lutz and Tre'Quan Smith could be two important players making their way back to the active roster in the coming weeks. Nick Vannet, Will Clapp, and Ken Crawley could all be of great value as well. The Saints are finally back in the Big Easy and excited to get back to their long-awaited Caesars Superdome opener. This will be the first fully-attended New Orleans Saints game since the January 5th, 2020 playoff exit against the Minnesota Vikings. The Who Dat Nation is ready to make some noise and a top-5 NFL defense will be ready for their help. The Saints knocked the Patriots down some key efficiency rankings on the offensive side. However, the Saints and Giants are evenly matched on offensive efficiency so for this season. The difference? The Saints will be facing the Giants 28th ranked defense in terms of efficiency while New York may struggle to topple the 2nd ranked unit in New Orleans. This could be a good opportunity for the Saints offense to kick into gear. But the biggest reason for this highly ranked Saints team comes down to the stars on the defense. Marshon Lattimore, Demario Davis, Marcus Williams, and others have led the way to start the season allowing only 14 points per game. Today's vlog takes us to the newly anointed Caesars Superdome where the New Orleans Saints took on the Jacksonville Jaguars on ESPN’s Monday Night Football in NFL Preseason Football action. I was lucky enough to be rolling on BOTH Jameis Winston -Marquez Callaway touchdowns. As well, I did my best to give a virtual walkthrough of the newly remodeled Superdome. This was the first night since the coronavirus pandemic started that a full house was allowed inside the Dome, provided you are vaccinated and wear a mask of course. It was preseason, so the Dome was not filled to capacity and it was no where close to the atmosphere that we expect on September 12 when Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers come to town in the season opener, but the mood and atmosphere was still festive and the Saints and city of New Orleans showed why there’s not quite any home field experience in the NFL like here in the Big Easy. Also, JB Smoove was there. If you enjoyed this video, SUBSCRIBE!!: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrKedjV7NSiAvjL0m4Eu96A?sub_confirmation=1 ...or not, I'm a description, not the law.
