Novak Djokovic will bounce the ball with his racket, then with his hand. Rafael Nadal will usually pull his shorts and the sleeves around his shoulders, then touch his nose and tuck his hair behind his ears. All very distinct routines. But there’s one tennis ritual nearly every pro tennis player does: choosing a specific tennis ball. A common belief among players is that the ball they choose can help them win. But there’s real physics at play behind this ritual — and It all comes down to the fuzz. For a faster serve, players try to find a compact ball. For a slower serve, they feel for more fuzz. The idea is that a fluffier ball is more likely to be slowed by drag as it travels through the air — and that choosing the right level of fuzz can help the serving player defeat their opponent. 2017 U SPORTS Women's Rugby National Championship - QF 4
Looking to repeat as U SPORTS women’s rugby champions, the top-seeded StFX X-Women exerted their size and strength, moving on to semifinals with a 39-12 win over the host Lethbridge Pronghorns. StFX will now face the Laval Rouge et Or in the second semifinal, Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. ET. Lethbridge will face the Guelph Gryphons in the second consolation semifinal at 3:00 p.m. ET. -- En quête d’un deuxième titre consécutif de championnes de rugby féminin U SPORTS, les StFX X-Women, classées premières, ont su démontrer leur force avec une victoire convaincante de 39-12 contre les Pronghorns de Lethbridge. Playing a near perfect game, the fifth-seeded Laval Rouge et Or ended defending champion StFX’s quest for a second straight national championship, beating them 23-0. The 2017 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship gold medal game will now be an all-RSEQ final with Laval joining the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the final Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. ET/ 2:00 p.m. PT. Laval will make the program’s first appearance in the championship game. StFX will face the Calgary Dinos in the bronze medal game Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT. -- Grâce à une performance pratiquement parfaite, le Rouge et Or de l'Université Laval, cinquième tête de série, a mis fin aux aspirations de StFX de remporter un deuxième championnat national consécutif, les blanchissant 23-0.
