#PSL #QGvsMS #QaisAhmed INTERVIEWS, Imran Tahir and Interview Usman Khan After four consecutive defeats, Quetta Gladiators got their first victory in the event Karachi, March 3, 2021: Quetta Gladiators beat Multan Sultans by 22 runs to clinch their first victory in HBLPSL-6. Chasing 177, Multan Sultans were all out for 154 in 19.4 overs. This is the first victory of Quetta Gladiators in the event. The team led by Sarfraz Ahmed had lost all its four group matches earlier. Interestingly, this is the first time in the first 14 matches of the event that the team batting first in HBL PSL 6 has won a match. Quetta Gladiators spinner Qais Ahmed was declared man of the match. Multan Sultans started their innings in pursuit of the target, while openers Mohammad Rizwan and James Owens took a confident approach and gave their team a strong start of 63 runs. James Owens scored 24 runs with the help of 4 fours. He was dismissed by Qais Ahmed. Captain Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 66 runs with 7 fours and 2 sixes. He fell victim to spinner Zahid Mahmood. Apart from the two openers, none of the batsmen of Multan Sultans could stay on the crease for long and kept returning to the pavilion after getting caught in the bowling trap of Quetta Gladiators from time to time. Shaun Masood 1, Riley Russo 3, Sohaib Maqsood 2, Khushdal Shah 19, Carlos Braithwaite 4, Sohail Khan 8, Imran Tahir 14 and Shahnawaz Dhani were out without scoring a run. Imran Khan remained unbeaten on zero. Multan Sultans were all out for 154 in 19.4 overs. Quetta spinner Qais Ahmed took 3 for 21 while Mohammad Hasnain and Zahid Mahmood took 2.2 wickets each. Dale Steyn and Mohammad Nawaz also took one wicket each. Earlier, Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan decided to field first after winning the toss and maintaining the tradition of fielding. Quetta Gladiators opener Usman Khan started the game with young Saeem Ayub. Both the openers played well but Quetta's first wicket fell to a total of 69 when Saeem Ayub scored 23 runs and was bowled by Imran Tahir. Usman Khan, a young batsman, played an impressive game and took all the bowlers of the rival team, including Imran Tahir, by surprise. He played an innings of 81 off 50 balls. His innings included ten fours and three sixes. As soon as Usman Khan was dismissed, Faf Dupleix also returned to the pavilion with 17 runs, after which no other batsman of Quetta Gladiators was able to perform remarkably. Mahmood Nawaz (20), Ben Cutting (10) and Azam Khan (17) were all out. Quetta Gladiators scored 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Multan Sultans young pacer Shah Nawaz Dhani took three wickets for 44 runs, Imran Tahir took two wickets while Sohail Khan and Imran Khan took one wicket each.

The team, captained by Shadab Khan couldn’t make the playoffs along with Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Quetta Gladiators. But before the 2021 PSL draft, they roped in Alex Hales from the Karachi Kings. After a poor start last time, the United will be looking for a decent start. Their first game is against the Multan Sultans, led by Mohammad Rizwan, in the second of Sunday’s doubleheader at the National Stadium in Karachi. On the head-to-head count, both teams are locked on three wins each and a cracker of a game can be expected. The Sultans topped the table last time but bowed out after losing both games in the playoffs. They will be looking to make some amends. Pitch and Conditions The pitch at the National Stadium has been a decent one for batting in recent times. But keeping in mind the fact that the chasing teams have had quite a bit of advantage, batting first shouldn’t be an option. The temperature will be around 25 degrees Celsius with the humidity in the mid-20s. This time, he would be keen to show his class for Shadab’s United. He is in red-hot form after he became the leading run-scorer in the 2020-21 edition of the BBL. The veteran also hammered a century against the Sydney Sixers. Chris Lynn– Multan Sultans Chris Lynn scored a century for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2020 PSL. This time, Lynn would be hoping to get some big scores for the Sultans. The right-hander had some injury concerns during the 2020-21 BBL, but he came back to become the Heat’s leading run-scorer in the T20 tournament.
